If someone truly feels that way and they're not just trying to discredit you, there must be a better way to communicate that than telling someone to "check their privilege." There's no way for me to not hear that without it sounding like one of the most asshole things ever. There's an inherent degree of disrespectful demand in that particular arrangement of words that immediately makes the conversation more antagonistic which helps nothing. We're no longer debating this issue, we're debating my oppression vs your privilege that you may or may not be aware of. It's you vs me. If you feel like I'm oppressing you, kindly (kindly) tell me in more words than three, without being so abrasive, so that I have a better understanding of why you feel that way and how I can try to remedy that without you making me feel like the enemy or me coming to think of you as the enemy. i said i would be done with fairy tail by the end of june. we're approaching october. i dont know who here reads one piece but am i the only one who thinks the dressrosa arc is waaay too long i dont like long arcs in general. im not looking forward to the grand magic games in ft. one of the reasons i liked ft was because of its shorter story arcs i was thinking about naruto today and it occurred to me how the powers are used to parallel the characters maturing (as people, not anime characters) or evolving over time. i like this. it's nice for the gimmick to be a little less gimmicky.

i love exploring music Lately I've started developing a taste for the harder punk that I previously couldn't get into. Because of this, I feel like I can genuinely call myself an AFI fan now. I've always loved their ability to create distinctly atmospheric and haunting rock, it's no secret that I adore Burials, but I'm now appreciating the Art of Drowning and Black Sails more. I've also started listening to more Weezer. Maladroit is probably my favorite album of theirs. I hated this band as a kid (probably because Beverly Hills was the first song I heard from them) but now I'm really liking them and I'm very excited for their upcoming album. I like All Time Low. Or at least some of their stuff. This is something I never imagined myself saying before this past winter when I heard Don't Panic, and last month I listened to Put Up or Shut Up and it immediately became one of my favorite EPs and I'm now listening to their first album and it's pretty alright. I have the same problem with them that I do with AAR, though to a lesser extent, which is their lyrics. Both bands are great at choosing the words they craft into lyrics (AAR specifically), I just wish they would write about something other than love and heartbreak and cheating and teenage problems and all that bullshit. I started listening to Queen, something long overdue. It's one of those things I've been meaning to do for years (since I heard the Breaking Benjamin cover of Who Wants to Live Forever) but never got around to doing. It's interesting to listen to them and then hear how My Chemical Romance drew heavily from A Night at the Opera (as well as other classic rock), both musically and theatrically, when they made The Black Parade. I've known that Queen was one of their biggest influences for a while, but to hear it and understand how is an interesting experience.
