First off, you need to make sure the WLAN switch on the top of the PSP is turned on. Unless it's on, you won't be able to connect. From there, go to the Internet Browser option on the menu (under Network), and select it. Once you try connecting to the internet, a Network Connection screen should come up and from there you can set up a wireless connection. You can do this either manually (Manual Input) or automatically (Scan). When you see your wireless signal, go to that and do whatever setup/config you need to, and if it connects you should be good to go. Though...I don't think you need to actually be on the PSP's internet to download savefiles. When you connect your PSP via USB cable you should be able to get to all your files anyway.

It's probably about 50 - 100 feet. But that's most likely if you have really good conncetion quality, it's probably closer to like...35 - 40 feet, lol.
