"I'm just curious," Van Helsing said, leaning forward now. "Oh, and Carl," he added, looking at the friar. "You needn't worry. She won't bite."
"So..." Van Helsing began. "Forgive me if I already asked this question, but how do you become a vampire? I know Hannah's story, that's for sure, but you... I don't remember."
"That's true," Van Helsing said, wrinkling his own nose. "And..." he continued as they reached the stables and went inside. "I do... not see our lovely companion. I bet she went into town to find some food. We should wait for her to get back... and for Carl to get here." He went over and sat on a pile of hay, leaning back and sighing.
"Thanks for joining me," Van Helsing said, looking at Jinx as she ran up beside him. "You'll have to show me to the stables. I don't know exactly where they are."
"And find our elusive, antisocial Miss Beatrice," Van Helsing added, standing and shouldering his pack. He picked up his hat from the floor and placed it on his head. "I'm leaving now. Feel free to follow now or join me later."
"Huh," Van Helsing replied, mocking confusion. "That's odd for you."
"I know, I know," Van Helsing insisted at Hannah. "Well," he paused. "It wasn't nothing... but I'm sure that you'll confide in Edward once he wakes."
"With the horses all afternoon and all night and now the beginning of the morning?" Van Helsing asked. "Well, if you'd like to go over there, be my guest. I wouldn't be surprised if she slept at the stables."
"I don't know what 'it' is, but fine," Van Helsing agreed. "By the way," he added, "does anyone care what happened to Beatrice anymore?"
Van Helsing laughed, rubbing his shoulder lightly. "Alright, I'll leave her alone," he muttered. "Since you're so persuasive," he added to Jinx, still smiling.
"Nothing involving holes?" Van Helsing asked with a grin.
'And what did you do last night, Hannah?" Van Helsing asked. "Anything interesting in the dark?"
Van Helsing frowned when he heard the whispers between Jinx and Hannah. Holes, he wondered. From what, I wonder?
"Let him rest for now," Van Helsing said, looking at Edward now. "He waited up all night till you and Hannah got back... and, speaking of Hannah," he added, glancing at the bathroom door. "Would you be so kind as to see what she's up to?"
OOC: youre both freaks... LOL BIC: "Nothing in particular, actually," Van Helsing replied. "But I'm glad that, if I ever have a question, you can answer it for me."
Van Helsing laughed quietly. "You're probably right," he replied. "I've been taught my whole life that you and your kind are monsters, but, lately, I've found that isn't true. So," he sighed. "You'll have to forgive me for my ignorance on the true, kinder ways of your people... you'll have to enlighten me."
"Well, if you can live forever, dear, you're not a human being," Van Helsing began. "But you are a being nonetheless. That doesn't mean sleeping in cellars and coffins is bad, though. It is for your survival against the sun and therefore, actually, a smart thing to do... if you know what I mean."
"What wrong with her?" Van Helsing muttered as Hannah left. Edward still slept. "And, yes, you do sleep... usually in a coffin or a dark cellar where the light won't get to you during the day. It does amaze me how you and Hannah can stay out all say with just cloaks on."
"Sorry," Van Helsing muttered, yawning. "I know you don't like that... anyway, what are you doing up? Don't you usually sleep when the sun starts to come up?"
^ ^ ^ "Autographs, anyone?" Van Helsing opened his eyes, surprised to find the room so dark. He saw Jinx's frame against the window and Edward and Hannah on the other bed. He smiled. "Up early, dear?" he whispered at Jinx, sitting up on his elbows and running a hand through his hair.
