"Go for it," Van Helsing muttered, happy, for once, that his mind could read hers. "I won't complain."
"Better," Van Helsing sighed, still not breaking a sweat and, he noticed, would have been able to block her attacks with one hand. Dracula better not get closer to her than I'd let him to Carl, he thought. That would mean death for her, no doubt.
"Good!" Van Helsing said again. "But keep up your guard!" He swung hard, twisting his blade around Beatrice's, sending off balance and back several feet as he beat her blade nonstop. "It's not a fake fencing match, Beatrice!" he insisted, not letting up on his attack. "You want to kill me, stab me, make me bleed out, not poke me in the chest and walk away!"
Van Helsing could tell she was trembling under his blade and swung lighter this time, moving his feet toward her. "Too tough for you?" he sneered, trying to provoke her.
Van Helsing grinned. "Good!" he said, admiring her stance and ignoring Carl's worried look. "And I won't hurt you," he added, raising his own blade. "I just want you to have an advantage because, if you're insisting on coming, which I don't mind, then you must be prepared! Everyone else, including me, have battle talents to a certain extent. Practice and no experience isn't enough for the son of the devil!" He swung his blade hard a Beatrice's.
"I see," Van Helsing said, an idea coming to his mind. "Excuse me, dear," he said, jumping swiftly around Jinx to hit the ground and walk over to Carl carriage. The man seemed surprised to see him instead of just hearing his voice. Van Helsing smirked at the friar and saw what he was looking for; a sword hilt stuck out of one of Carl's many bags and he pulled the blade out, turning to face Beatrice. "Consider this a 'real' fight," he began, supressing a laugh at the terrified look on her face. "Go on, then! Pratice makes perfect! Tuche, Beatrice! Draw! Stance! I'm waiting!"
"No one would expect less of you," Van Helsing said politely. "When was the last time you used that thing anyway?"
Van Helsing snorted. "You know Edward uses a silver bulleted gun on vampires knowing it will do nothing but hinder them under he can ch-" he stopped himself. "Until he can have me help him out," he recovered, ignoring Jinx's nervous sideglance. "So I'm sure a sword is better than nothing; Edward has no idea how to use any weapon, the innocent little Roman boy!"
"Ah," Van Helsing said. "I've never seen you use it, though. You're not just for show, are you?"
"Well, I'm not like Hannah, silly," Van Helsing smirked. "I do love that sword," he added suddenly, looking to Beatrice's side. "I don't I've said that before."
"Sorry, but why did you ask?" Van Helsing inquired. "Curious," he added.
"To me?" Van Helsing repeated. "Well, unfortunately, I do not have a heightened or special sense of smell. You smell to me just like any random person in the streets would smell. But," he added, not wanting to sound incompetent, "I do have excellent hearing... though not as well as you, dear," he finished, inclining his head to Jinx.
"Sorry," Van Helsing muttered. "It isn't even nightfall yet anyway; I should stop rushing them because God knows that this will be easier if they're on better terms..."
"So Beatrice," Van Helsing asked. "I don't mean to sound rude but, what in Jesus Christ's name are those two doing in the God d.amned room?"
OOC: ooh baby... *sigh* lol "Since I was six," Edward spoke. "When Dracula turned my entire family into... well, what we are. Do you realize..." he faded, unwanted, unexpected emotion coming up in his throat. He cleared and then tried to smile. "You realize that the last werewolf left Van Helsing and Carl want to kill before we get to Dracula is my baby sister, right?"
^ ^ ^ WHAT LESTAT AND LOUIS DID ON WEEKENDS
OOC: Oh, yes, I know you love it! me and my vampire-master man are just cool like that! :D BIC: Van Helsing swallowed another laugh. "Yes, Carl is... enjoying himself, I think. I've know him for a long time, and you have to realize that... this... is very odd and unusual for me, so he's a little shocked and amused at the same time."
"I apologize," Van Helsing spoke, trying to look sincere through his grin. "I'm just in the bad habit of being used to hearing you argue instead of entertain."
Van Helsing frowned, pulling his hat off his head and smacking Jinx across the arm with it. "I'm sorry to have offended the lady," he snapped, emphasizing the last word unnecessarily with a smile. "But I think you enjoy entertaining me and vice-versa, so... we don't have much reason to argue, do we?"
"Well, I keep Hannah around for Edward's sake," Van Helsing spoke with a small smile. "And you entertain me, so... there you go!" He laughed loudly, hoping Carl could hear him.
