'Edward had some issues with gun control," Van Helsing muttered, not watching Edward try to scoop up the remains of Elijah in his arms. "Don't worry. He'll clean the place up."
"I don't care," Van Helsing said. "But I don't want it around here, and neither should you considering how it affects Jinx and Hannah. So... it's got a cloak over it... get rid of it somewhere! The woods, the street, the garbage gutters, I don't care!"
"I'll tell you what you'll do," Van Helsing began, turning to Edward. "Get rid of that." He pointed to Elijah.
"Sleep," Edward insisted. "Just for a little while. I will go down and help Van Helsing prepare the carriages and the horses... or I can stay here with you. It's your choice."
Van Helsing smiled when Jinx left and turned to Carl. "Well, I kind of lied when I said you didn't miss anything this afternoon. We had an... accident with another vampire hunter, and, well... let's just say his little sister is in much better condition than him now."
"Like I said," Van Helsing sighed. "There isn't much we can do." They rounded the corner to the stables now, stopping the carriages behind it so they could detach the two carriages and hook up Sorin as well. "I guess someone should check on Hannah and Edward," he said now.
"I'll make Edward get rid of the body... or what's left of it," Van Helsing said. "As for the sister, yes, it is our fault... but I don't know what to do about it."
"No," Van Helsing spoke. "She won't be. She will have to try and find him eventually and no one will know what happened to him... want to why?"
"It might be an improvement!" Van Helsing joked, and then cleared his throat. "No, Rome is a lovely city. I always hate leaving it."
"I see," Van Helsing replied, guiding Lexi over a bump in the road slowly so as not to disturb the carriage she was slowly pulling along. "I bet Edward would drain the entire city of blood if Hannah need some to get better!"
Van Helsing laughed, nodding his head. "You're right. Do you think Hannah will be well enough to travel by the time the sun goes down?"
"Ah, I see," Van Helsing replied. "Well, as for leaving, which the plan when we get to the stables, I guess now it's up to Hannah and how well she feels. But, regardless if she is in perfect condition again by nightfall or not, we need to leave by then. It's not good for me, or any of you, probably, to stay in one place this long. You know what I mean?"
Van Helsing nodded at Jinx, jumping into the driver's seat of the carriage that Lexi was pulling. "Carl, you lead, and Lex and I shall follow. Jinx, if you want to jump up here it'd be easier than running the rest of the way back to Sorin and Beatrice in the other stables."
"No rush, Carl," Van Helsing smiled. "Take a pick of a carriage and put your things whever you wish. Take that team of horses, and I'll guide with Lexi behind you." "Oh," he added a moment later. "And you didn't miss much this afternoon."
The monk soon returned with the carriages, one horse pulling each slowly. He quickly harnessed them both to one carriage, leaving the other for Lexi. "You can handle that on your own for a few minutes, can't you, girl?" Van Helsing said. "Hook those horses's carriage to the front of this other one, so they can help my horse pull it. Oh, and," he added. "Can you please fetch Carl when you have a chance? He should be here already."
Van Helsing saw a monk standing outside the back of the stables behind the Vactican and called out to him to stay. "I need a team of horses and two carriages," he began. "Carl should have informed you of our departure," he added, just to mention a name. The man shook his head, clueless. Van Helsign sighed. "Well, Carl can be like that, forgetting things. Anyway, I'm in a bit of a hurry, so..." The man nodded and rushed off. Van Helsing smiled and dismounted Lexi. "I'll have him fetch Carl and then we'll head back so you can rest a bit more before we go, alright?"
Van Helsing mounted Lexi and rode her out of the stables. He planned to go around the backside of the Vatican and get two carriages from the churche's stables there. I can pick up Carl as well. He can take one team of horses and Lexi can pull the second carriage on her own for a little. I'm sure Beatrice will let Sorin join her. Then we'll have enough room for people and their things.
"Thanks," Van Helsing said, grinned at her, and then turned to go over to Lexi as the other three left. "Okay, girl," he whispered to her, rubbing her nose. He smiled. "Ready to go find a nice carriage to pull around?"
"You can go," Van Helsing said to Beatrice. "I will get that carriage and meet you all back here before nightfall."
Van Helsing pulled his bandages toward him and began to wrap them around Hannah, completely surrounding her waist. He tied the knot a few inches below the bullethole, and pulled her shirt down, sighing. "She should wake soon," he began, wiping his forehead and sheathing the small knife. "And then she'll be fine."
