Van Helsing grinned. "You know, you should try sleeping sometimes," he replied smoothly. "I bet it gets boring just watching me forever. I wouldn't mind watching you for a change."
Van Helsing stirred in his sleep, trying to shake away the dream that had been bothering him as he tried to rest. He opened his eyes and tilted his hat back slightly so he could see around the room. He saw Jinx by the window and smiled. "We ladies are fine, by the way," he yawned, answering the question she had asked hours ago.
Van Helsing smiled to himself, though his recent dream still troubled him. He shut his eyes once more after trying to listen for sound next door... there wasn't much. While there's some quiet between these storms, I will get some more rest, he thought, though he could not drift off to sleep very quickly.
"Go for it," Van Helsing agreed. "And Carl," he added, a little embarrassed, "thank you for talking with me."
"I would hope so," Van Helsing replied. "It would be one less thing for us to deal with."
"Oh, yes," Van Helsing smiled. "Just like the rest of them... you'd think by now that Dracula would have noticed our giant, growing caravan." OOC: oh yes, im cool enough to get 3400, too... i izz goin to eat lunch... be back soon.... :D i love you!!!
"The new one," Van Helsing muttered. "And Lestat doesn't seem to be a hunter... Will is a collector, and as for John... well, he's just sick. He's the one I'd like to kill the most right now. No, the one that made Hannah sick last night. He's just a hinderance at this point."
This is how it should be... or at least it's cuter!
"Not really," Van Helsing laughed. "I'm not sure what else I'm supposed to do... the horses are rested, the last werewolf is dead... what about that stupid vampire hunter they were talking about?"
"Well," Van Helsing began, sitting up. "I'm not sure... I know there was something else we had to do here besides kill a werewolf woman... I can't remember..."
"So true," Van Helsing sighed. "We'll see what happens, I guess."
"Wait until they come to us, I guess," Van Helsing replied, guessing. "I'd rather they do what they must and then find us. I've got to tell Edward what I've done, and then we can move on, right?"
"With Jinx and her glamour abilities? Anywhere," Van Helsing replied. "Not that I'm worried," he added with a small smile.
"The feeling is mutual," Van Helsing yawned, waking at the sound of Carl's thought. "But it's day now, isn't it? None of our friends could have gotten far."
Van Helsing dreamt of empty castles, long corridors, and cold air, things that rushed past him faster than he could reach for his gun... the night was chilled and, no matter how hard he tried to shake his head, a fog stayed around the edges of his vision, as if someone had hit him hard over the head and he couldn't shake the impact... he wandered aimlessly, alone for once, and that empty loneliness seemed to ruin any heightened sense he had.... Focus, he kept trying to tell himself, knowing somehow that Dracula was close by and he need to pay attention. You can do it without them, they're all extra bodies, nothing more... But he couldn't shake the feeling that one on one this time would be completely unfair...
"Thank you, Carl," Van Helsing sighed, and rolled over to fall asleep as the sun began to rise.
Van Helsing smiled at Carl's words. "You're right," he replied. "It's just a little frustrating... but I guess it's all worth it; the extra people, the excessive drama, the difficulties they bring with them... right?"
"I don't know," Van Helsing sighed. "That's the problem. I don't know what's going on. This time a year or so ago, it would be the two of us... none of these others problems. I keep telling myself to get rid of them all, to just make it two horses and that's it once more. But, at the same time, there's everything else: I like having Beatrice and her lovely horse around, no matter what's happened to her. Edward seems the only person strong enough to help me get rid of Dracula, and Hannah makes him happy, which is something that I'm very glad about, despite what everyone else thinks. Plus, Jinx... she helps, too, you know? And I have a funny feeling she hates me. There are way too many moments when I want to empty my guns on all of them and just go finish the job myself, but... I have a funny feeling that I won't be able to get near Dracula, let alone kill him, without all of them next to me. Do... do I make any sense at all, Carl?"
"Asleep yet, Carl?" Van Helsing asked.
"Do what you wish," Van Helsing said from the bed. "You can have the room keys."
