Luke snorted under his breath, laughing to himself at the events taking place next to im. "This is ridiculous," he muttered.
"We're wasting time!" Van Helsing sighed under his breath. "For all we know Aleera could be finishing Jinx and Dracula could be right around the corner."
"Yes, I don't mind the badger, Alex, but my nature is to trust a man, not a beast. My god!" Luke sighed, glancing over his shoulder at Caspian and Elizabeth. "What the hell does he think he's doing?"
Van Helsing noticed Edward wincing and his legs shaking on the stone floor. "She doesn't feel it," he spoke, almost kindly. "Her nervous system and conscious mind are completely disconnected right now and she won't be in any pain."
Van Helsing relayed what Edward told him: "He says he carried her up the stairs on his back; that's it."
