I just followed Crono's tut, and I thought that some of you might want to know how to make scanlines with GIMP. So here's how. (Note: This is how I do it. I don't remember reading any tuts on it, but I might have, so I DO NOT claim this as my own.) 1.Get the image you want to cover with scanlines. It can be a render, text, an avatar, or an entire sig. I'm covering an AIM icon. So, open your image. File>Open... 2. Duplicate the Background. Layers>Duplicate Layer 3. Go to "Filters>Disorts>Video." Set it to 3x3, and (Optional) check the box that says "Additive". If it's a light picture, check it. If it's meant to be dark, uncheck the box. Leave the other box unchecked. 4.Set the Duplicated to "Screen". If you don't like the look of "Screen", you can set it to something else. "Overlay", "Dodge", "Soft Light", "Diffrence", "Addition", "Subtract", and "Value" all look good. Now you have your finished result!
I remembered this from the old forum, and I thought it might be fun to have it again with all the new people here. So read the title. For me: Become a better staff member Befriend all of you And this one is probably the biggest one for me: Be the user all the new people look up to. This may seem a bit confusing, but it's hard to explain without giving a really long story. So, here's my story: When I first came here, I had no idea what a forum was, and why they were so popular. I wasn't good with computers, and all I really did was look at Kingdom Hearts pictures, watch AMV's, wishing I could make them (Remember --- This was almost a year ago), and listen to music. So here I was, new to computers, with no real talents. So I registered, and looked around a bit, not really posting. I saw all these members, with all these nice sigs, and all that. One member really stood out to me. I'll keep the member's name out to save them from some embarassment, but I'll say that they're still around. He had this nice sig, and I will always remember this one comment that the member made.* I strive to be like that for all of the new members. *Sorry if I rambled a bit.
