Aly jogged along the path, her breath becoming sharper. She glanced behind, fearful. She knew something was there, just knew it. Call it intuition, or whatever. Stepping behind a tree, she quieted herself, watching.
She shook her head, forcing the tears away. She couldn't say whether they were tears of anger, or tears of pain. Maybe both. "I can't wait that long! I have to take care of Eva, and get her away from my people!"
Aly grinned. "Big help. How long can you do it for?" she asked, her mind whirling with the possibilities. "If we do this all at the right moment, we could actually make it out without any casualties."
