I hope I get to talk to you soon again, Emzy. Our conversations always managed to make me smile, no matter what. I hope you get everything sorted, then we can get back to being girls on msn. Luff you.

Climbing up further, the girl furrowed her eyebrows, trying to see what that was. It almost looked like a huge bat...but bats didn't get that big. Fear replaced curiousity, and she slowly backed down, trying to lower herself without shaking the tree as much. It had been so much easier to go up, but now she had to get down. What were these things?

Tifa jumped on top of the rolling dice, concentrating. She jumped off, tilting her body slightly to fit in the small space between Xion and the wall, grabbing the girl and pushing off against the wall, then tucking in her body and rolling past. She flinched as a card cut her arm, but kept Xion safe. For now.

Tifa was so confused, she would have to laugh about it later, if she lived. "She's not a nobody, if that's what you're talking about." Tifa replied calmly, sensing Xion behind her. "She's something different, and what she can or can't feel or do is not for you to say. I can love her and treat her as my family because I have that ability. Not as much can I say for you."

OOC: As a matter of fact, Crimson, yes I did. I knew it was either Kayla or Alianne. XD Shouldn't you guys slow down for Periwinkle to get back? There's already six pages.

BIC: Resting under a tree, Kayla tilted her head. There seemed to be something, up in the taller branches, resting...she slowly jumped and grabbed the lower branch, then pulled herself up, thanking whatever gods there were that she had exercised enough before she left. Resting on the lower branch, she jumped up and swung around, then caught another branch.

I want to be selfish and say come back, since you're the only member I've seen who even really knows about as much as Lost as I try to. Even so, I hope you have a good time out there and life treats you fairly. Either we'll see you again, or we won't.

OOC: It's okay. I'm more of a loner anyway. You always forget, silly.

BIC: Bumping into a guy, she muttered an apology and walked around, trying to ignore the glare. At least her clothing hide her tattoo. She didn't know who was a friend and who wasn't, but she wasn't keen on finding out the wrong way.

OOC: **** I forgot her name.

Alianne smiled sweetly. "I'll give good references for your future job." she replied, then grabbed her staff and headed through, to what, she didn't know. She didn't care either, she just wanted away from all those people, those possible links. Just links to a chain that would drag her down. If she couldn't handle it alone, she would die. Simple as that. That was life....or death. She passed the trees, and gently pushed the door open with her staff, closing her eyes, and biting her lip as she walked through.

    Questions

Jason rubbed his face, leaning his head back against the wall. The bed was comfy, for an abandoned dorm. Apparently Rachel had pulled strings with Michael to get it leased for a while. Pulled strings. Who was he kidding. Getting up, he prowled around his room, feeling trapped. Michael was interested in her, probably. Meanwhile Tanya was sick, and Greg wouldn’t leave her. Shia was who knew where, probably getting into trouble.

Sitting back down on the bed, he pounded his fist against the soft coverlet, trying to find a release for his frustration. So many things happening at once. First it started with the stupid guy trying to hit on Rachel, then it had just progressed to Tanya getting in the way, Shia questioning their decisions….something was building up, but where would it stop? It was like a volcano, there had to be some pressure release.

A soft knock brought him back to reality. “It‘s open.” he muttered, staring up at the ceiling, his back now on the bed. Soft footsteps, then the sound of the door closing.

“You missed dinner.” Rachel’s voice echoed slightly, a sound barely audible to the animal ear. So how could he hear it?

“Wasn‘t hungry.” he muttered, his hands folding behind his head. Just then his stomach growled, loudly.

“I can see that.” She murmured, sitting delicately down beside him. That was how she was, delicate. She acted strong, but she could break so easily. All it took was the wrong landing, and she would get hurt. Turning his head slightly, he studied her.

She was looking at her hands, her hair hiding her face. As a normal girl, she would have been striking, but there was something feral and wild about her, about the way she sat, almost like she was constantly coiled to spring. “You never relax.” Jason murmured, closing his eyes, turning his face up to the ceiling again.

There was a quiet laugh, then silence again. It wasn’t uneasy, or tense. Just quiet. Slowly sitting up, leaning his back against Rachel’s, Jason tilted his head back, then slowly exhaled. It had always been easy like this, was always easy like this. He wanted it to stay this way, to always be this easy. The problem was that things could never stay easy.
“Hey, Rach……you know when you said you made a deal with Michael? What was your end of the bargain?”

Hearing no reply, he turned, and Rachel’s head fell into his lap, her eyes closed. Smiling, then shaking his head, he gently tucked her into bed, kissed her forehead, then closed the shades. “Silly girl.” Closing the door, he leaned against it, thinking.

    *********************************
The kitchen smelled good, like flour and sugar and something burnt. Jason watched as Shia made her way around, taking this and that and mixing it all together. She actually wasn’t a bad cook, despite her size and upbringing. They all voted her to make the meals, and it was an unlucky day when she made someone else do it.

Head resting on his palm, he watched her, thinking. If something was wrong, but it wasn’t obvious, what could he do about it? Looking down, he placed his hand on the counter top. If Rachel was hiding something, how could he get her to tell him. She trusted him, but then why wouldn’t she tell him?

A light tap on the shoulder brought him back. He daydreamed too much, Jason realized. “Greg says Tanya is stabilized, she‘s just sleeping now.” Shia murmured, setting a plate of brownies down in front of him. That’s what she had been making…but then how long had he been asleep? Not bothering to check the clock, he wolfed down three of the brownies before stopping and thinking.

“Shia…..do you ever keep secrets from the pack?” he asked, considering the fourth brownie he held, letting the light glance down on it. He knew Shia was watching him, but he ignored her questioning gaze, eating the next brownie.

‘Yes…I did. Now there‘s nothing to hide. Is something up between you and Rachel?” she asked tentatively, her hands behind her back. Looking up, Jason watched her, this time while she looked away.

    “Why would you think that?”

“You went into her room, and you came out, but not her.” Shia’s head was up now, her eyes defiant. “Something‘s up, we just don‘t say anything. Whether you guys are arguing or just not talking, we just go along with it. You guys wouldn’t separate, right?”

It hit Jason just how much of a family they were then. Shia sounded like the five year old daughter that knows something is wrong and wants to fix it, but just doesn’t know w hat to do. “We won‘t separate the group.” Jason replied, finishing the brownie and getting up. “I‘m going to go check on Rachel, and bring some of these to her.”

As he turned, plate in hand, Shia remarked, her back already turned, “She hasn‘t been able to keep a thing down since three nights ago. She must have some cold there.” It was like each word was a spear of ice. Rachel hadn’t been eating? But at his house….she had only had coffee and one thing, and she had looked pale….keeping his shoulders relaxed, he waved, and headed back. Now they had to tell all the secrets, because he was sick of being in the dark, and sick of not knowing.

    Chapter 2

The roses are perfect, as they have been every spring since we moved her. Kaname doesn't like me going out alone, and yet he lets it happen. It's odd, having a brother, having part of a family, having a past. The sun beats down on the grass, making it sparkle in the dew that hasn't yet burned away. I should be sleeping now, with the others, but I can't.

Instead I lie down under the rose bushes, hiding myself from view, hiding from the world, if only for a while. This estate is a hidden one, that my parents left us, my brother and I. We have lived here for two years with the aristocrats Hanabusa Aido, Akatsuki Kain, Ruka Souen, Ichijo Takuma, and, and Kaname's bodyguard Seiren. I should be used to mingling among them, and be used to have them calling me Yuki-sama, but I'm not. Maybe I was never a vampire, and it's all a lie, again.

These dark thoughts draw me away from the beauty of the morning, and so I ignore them again. If only it was so easy to ignore. Slowly my eyes drift shut. It's been two years since I have heard from Zero, Yori, my best friend, or my foster father and the headmaster of our old school, Kaien Cross. I wonder how they are, if they're okay. I know the others miss Rima and Senri, the two who stayed behind, but they never talk about them. How do we keep the ones that we love alive, if we never talk about them?

Almost silent footsteps on the grass, a small sigh. “Yuki. You should be sleeping.” That soft voice belongs to the man I once adored with all my heart. Kaname. Turning, I look back, seeing his tall form blot out the now risen sun. He is the most handsome man I have ever seen, and the only vampire I trusted. I loved him, before I knew about my past. Now my feelings for him are of a brother, and nothing more. Perhaps that was what my feelings were before, but clouded by my human part.

“Do you need different sleeping arrangements?” He asks, his voice still soft, a small smile on his face. “I missed the sun.” I answer, trying not to waver. I have to tell him what I have been thinking, what I have been feeling. “Kaname-sama.....”

“Even after everything, you still can't stop calling me 'sama'.” The smile is still in place, but I can almost feel the pain he carries, the guilt, with those words. I am as distant to him as I was as a human, if not in a different way. His pain cuts me worse then a razor, and so I reach out to him instead, pulling my bigger brother into a hug.

“Old habits die hard.” I answer instead, my eyes closing. He wraps his arms around me, and we lie there, letting the sun warm our skin. How can I ask him for the one thing that will hurt him most? No, I will wait. Zero said he would hunt me, I will let him find me. Then we will both find out if he has the inner strength to use his gun against me. Until then, I will stay, with Kaname by my side. This is the way it has been, I will let this peace continue for a while longer.

This train of thought leads to what Kaname once said to me. “Play in this sandbox a while longer.” He had been trying to keep me happy, to make my mother's wish come true, to see me smile. I had been happy.....but what if he was trying to keep me from the truth once more? Never mind then. He wouldn't do that to me again, there was no reason to.

Somehow, I wake up in my bed. It's not a bad bed, nor a bad room. The sheets are dark purple, matching the pillow cases. The coverlet isn't needed this time of year, but it's usually black or white. All this is made from the finest satin, of course. The wall is a dark color, but you can never tell if it's the darkest blue, red, or just purely black. I love this room, but it reminds me too much of what I am, instead of am not. I cannot pretend I'm human, and I can't pretend I have the naivety I used to.

Lying back, there's a stillness in the building, something not quite right. Getting out of the bed, walking to the window, nothing seems amiss. Night has fallen, again, but there is no one outside. This is odd......Usually Ruka and Seiren are in the garden. Walking quietly to the doorway, I hear nothing, and no one. Where is Akatsuki? And Aido? Closing the door behind me, I walk to the window across my bedroom. Something is wrong, it's almost like I'm alone. A whisper behind me, a small breeze, and I whirl, then feel my mouth open in shock. Kaname stands in front of me, wearing his dark clothes, his eyes hidden in shadow. “Yu....ki...” he falls forward, his eyes going blank. As I catch him, I realize that those are not dark colors, but blood. Even as my mouth opens to scream, I hear a click, and the barrel of a gun pressed to the back of my head.

    “Yuki.”

The voice saying this is lower, more menacing then Kaname's, then anyone's. I know whose voice this is. “You finally found me.” I whisper, Kaname's blood seeping through my fingers. “You found your strength.”

“It's good to see you.” he finally whispers, and then the trigger clicks.

Walking down the road, she hummed to herself, watching people. Everyone seemed to have something to do. She felt kind of bad, just wandering, just leaving a note for the others to find, but she wouldn't have left otherwise. She needed to be more spontaneous, anyway.

Xion crept toward Tifa, her eyes watching, now in defense mode. This could go either way, her sight was blinded by his games. She wanted to reassure Tifa, and to help her, but what could she say? That they were both trapped, with no way out?

Tifa clenched her fist, not bothering to smile, her eyes wary. "What do you want with us?" she asked, keeping herself between Luxord and Xion. Whatever happened, they would get through it together, all three of them. "We want nothing to do with you, or your kind."

Alianne rolled her eyes, turning and looking. "Some of us do better alone." She voiced aloud. "Sometimes people drag us down, hold us back. If this is the way to Heaven, it might be best done alone." She smiled to herself, not a nice one. "That way no one gets hurt." Turning, she eyed the girl, then the others, and lowered her arms. "So can I go now?"

    EDIT: Never mind then.

BIC: Kayla thought for a bit, then climbed up to the roof, lying on her back. This was hher favorite place. She wanted to stay here, but she had to venture into the world eventually. It had to happen, she had to get her experience. Maybe she should just go....
