    Knowing the generalizations usually found in games such as these puberty would be interpreted as your first example. In my first statement I had used the word as a sort of adjective denoting the feelings and qualities associated with prepubescence and not the actual biological change. And anyhow, I would doubt that Square-Enix would input puberty or the factor of it in any Kingdom Hearts game; even the changes themselves may only be subtle and Sora will stay his extremely-optimistic and naive self throughout the lifespan of the series to associate constant and unchanged familiarity with the character. You could call Sora somewhat of a static character.
