I doubt that, being prudent and observing is probably the best course of action for both detectives and Kira. It's not just about killing, it's about not getting caught, so you're all still on my list except for Jube I think he's got the pics on his side here.

This thread grew so much while I was away and yet we are still not any closer to congratulating me as winner.

Detectives are more hardcore than that, we use opium, old school like Sherlock Holmes.

We don't know that but ICSP said that people who posted in the thread were Kira candidates in his first post. That's what I took from it at least.

There are six or seven of us I estimate, I expected a bit more of a wait before Kira was chosen. This'll be over quicker than I thought.

You're like a dog that chases it's tail and not seeing the food in front of it. I laugh out loud at your misfortune.

Hunters in many cases are either bored people with too much time and firepower on their hands or poachers. Both reasons are stupid and hopelessly obsolete. Hunting in a developed country will only lead to you shooting a human you thought was an animal. There is no place for such things in modern society and though I don't really object to it very strongly, it's just a waste of time and effort and the cost of several human lives a year. On the other side of the spectrum you've got people hunting animals that are protected for money and that's illegal if I'm not incorrect, so it's an utterly pointless endeavor from start to finish. Honestly, I dislike the idea of hunting carrying on further into the future, it's really brutish and simple minded. Not to mention the fact that development controls population well enough by itself.

China is like a big company, very image oriented. The opening ceremony and the work involved with the Olympics were like their brainchildren productions to show the world that they were in essence a power; it's not a close enough deal, it's a "you do it the way we want it or not even the dogs will know you were once meat" deal. So that's where you get the fireworks thing, they just wanted it they way they planned and wouldn't deal with anything else. It was a matter of pride like the photoshopped missile.

The same kind of idea of perfectionism and over controlling micromanagement goes for the kid as well, when I saw the pictures of the two I knew instantly why they did it. They don't want to be represented by anything less than what they deem worthy and the kid didn't make the cut, she was by no means ugly but she in all honesty didn't live up to their standards. It's as simple as that, the cultural obsession with appearance and image is just how it works there.

Everyone seems to agree that the numbers are less of a factor than the moral, emotional, and general ethical objections they have to serial killing in particular. Spree killers, are terrorist, foreign or otherwise tend more towards the way of the run of the mill killing as far as how they're viewed, with the exception that they are considered quite a bit more atrocious because of their venue and message. In the end it really comes down to perception, information, and synthesis of the two into an answering opinion. All of these people committing crimes seem to lack morals or at least the will to prevent oneself from killing, but the level of self investment in the killing itself seems to make a distinct difference in the way these murders are viewed. I suppose the sickening thoughts and notions going through a serial killers mind would be more distasteful than those of a mentally and emotionally disturbed teen, gangster, robber, or a religious zealot, even when in the end the effects of such things are less wide spread. The effects themselves are also less forcefully impacting the world, these other people are controlling parts of or whole nations, imposing their will on others and killing those who think differently. I suppose it's my own sense of morality that makes this so hard to grasp, I see it all as killing, the result is the same, people are dead and a message is sent to those left alive. The danger of being killed by a serial killer is less, but the heinousness is greater I suppose, without any in depth knowledge it's hard to get a good picture of some things. I can only conclude, that that's the simple way the explanations making sense. I guess that's it for me, my question is answered to my satisfaction.
