    Hey people!

So this is a part of my Art Major that I handed in a few weeks ago. The markers loved it, but I won't know my actual mark for a few days. Anywho, these are the best 3 out of the 7 I made. What do you think of them? :)

Just throwing this REALLY far out there but...nobody mentioned Recess?

The thing about Disney Channel is that its always coming up with new ideas to engage in its audience. That's what every network does. As a result, they have crappy shows which aren't funny and really would make Walt Disney shoot himself. Disney channel went downhill when Corey In the House came out, because that's when That's So Raven ended. By then, so had Lizzie McGuire and Phil of The Future-some of the main awesome shows that I grew up with. Now, I watched Hannah Montanna a few times, same with Wizards of Waverly Place, and they weren't all that bad. They were NO WHERE NEAR as good as the shows that I had grown up with though.

What they need is to bring back the old animated shows: Recess, Kim Possible, American Dragon etc etc and make a 'Kids Sitcom' that doesn't look at a teenage kid! That's how they're ruining their channel-they're constantly putting shows about the 'daily struggles of the teenager' and really nothing else. GET CREATIVE! I don't know if anyone remembers 'Pirate Island'? They need new styles-action, fantasy, hell-they could have some light-hearted crime, like Filmore! and stuff. The main problem with Disney is that they only do the shows that are like, "I'm a teenager and I have a secret that nobody knows, and if anyone knew...well...then thats a very bad thing..." ENOUGH with the teen stuff! That's what's letting them down! They're not getting out of this stupid little box and as a result nearly ALL of their shows are exactly the same!

    /rant and two cents.

Oh god, its like reading my brain from 2 months ago...

Ok, first of all, you are not insane. If you are insane, then I am insane. If I am insane, then so is the rest of the whole damn world!
^See that? Confidence. Ability to include myself in a majority group.

I see the school counselor about my anxiety, but seeing as you don't go to school anymore, you don't have that advantage. Colleges should have one anyway though, right? I mean, with the stresses college brings (you got into your 'dream' one, so I assume there's a lot of pressure?) There has got to be some kind of psychologist there. My school counselor is free, so if your college has a counselor, it might not cost anything. That takes care of the cheap doctor thing.

Of course, if you don't want to see a doctor there are actually a lot of things you can do in social situations to help yourself out. Much like you I find it really hard to communicate with others and I am constantly paranoid about people's reactions to what people think of me. What you do is stay interested in the conversation. Usually there are little breaks in any conversation, that would be your cue to talk. Any subject they're talking about, you can give your two cents about it.

Eg-My friends yesterday were talking about the things their dogs do to annoy them.

Have a dog: "OMG my dog does that all the time. Like this one time when..."
Or: "My dog has never done that, but he HAS done...-funny story/joke of some sort"
Now, I don't have a dog, so I ask a general question "How old is your dog? What breed is it?"

    etc etc

In social situations you have to be interested/pretend to be interested in whatever they're talking about. That way, you'll receive a positive response from them. You have to build this social-ness up slowly, and then soon, it will be your turn to start a topic and people will be interested...unless they're all total *****es in which case none of them are worth your time anyway.

Now with the school thing-I myself am in an Australian school, so I don't know how different American colleges are. Why don't you take up a part time job? One that isn't too strenuous and doesn't take a lot of time from your study, but pays you well enough so you can contribute to your college? They're hard to find, sure, but by the sounds of it you got into a good college with a few scholarships. That means an impressive resume which ALSO means it might be easier for you to get a job to take some of the stress away from your money troubles to do with school.

Also, this might sound a little stupid, but if you don't want to see a counselor, have you thought about hypnosis? I am not joking it works like a charm. Any 'Self Confidence Hypnosis' thing on youtube will work wonders with your confidence, trust me on that.

Ok, so thats my 2 cents. You are definitely not insane, you are just lacking in confidence. Chin up, you're putting too much pressure on yourself, and you can get through it with just a little more self confidence. I hope everything gets better PM/VM me if you need anything :)

Ok yeah, the whole issue of cyberbullying goes without saying, and cybersafety doesn't even begin to scratch the surface of the uncertainties technologies such as the internet. But social networking on a whole could affect the self esteem of our future generation by just being there. We get the hateful messages, and the exclusions and so on, but I'm talking about just your daily facebook checks. Theres something psychological to do with the presence of social networking.

    1. 'Likes' and reputation: I actually wrote this in a facebook status the other day. Your reputation on these stupid sites is based on how many 'likes' you get on a status, or a photo, and the amount of likes you get on any particular photo depends on how much of your boobs are showing. Such is the degradation of today's cyber-society. In all seriousness, imagine posting a status that you have thought about for a good 10 minutes...only to find out that nobody has liked it, commented on it, or anything. They've just thrown out your well thought out status like trash. As my brother once said, 'you only stress about the things you put effort into.' So if you put effort into a status, or a photo, or anything, and nobody 'likes' it, how crappy are you gonna feel? Its this need...this craving, if you will, for likes and comments and notifications that gets the average teen so worked up about whether or not people 'like' them, or appreciate what they post at all.

    2. 'Facebook-aholic': Bad enough craving for the likes and the virtual sense of popularity, but there is a psychological side to being addicted to a social networking site. Its an actual addiction...go figure. Source. The fact that many teens are 'addicted' to the site can actually have an adverse affect on their psychological well-being.

    3. Mutual likes: It takes a lot of courage to state to the world what your hobbies and interests are, especially if IRL you are relatively socially insecure. Upon discovering that none of your friends like the same things as you, you'd probably want to take it down. Insecurities rise, because you no longer feel free to tell the world who you are, but rather you tell the world you are who they want you to be. Hell yeah, insecurity FTW!

    4. Chats and inboxes: This is where the actual 'cyberbullying' happens, provided you're having a bad time on fb chat. Facebook has this new thing on chat, where you can see when the other person got your message. I guess from that, you can tell whether or not people actually want to talk to you. Its indirect cyberbullying...look at that. Then there are of course the hateful messages that you get during chats that you don't want, and when you close the chat and 'appear offline' you get the messages in your inbox...woop dee doo. <-- Thats the actual cyberbullying that is being tackled today.

tl;dr: So maybe I'm just a paranoid ****, or maybe I make some sense. Thats for you to decide. Do you reckon social networking sites (I just used facebook as a main example) are harming kids self esteem? I mean, the way I see it, teenagers are better off without it. Hormonal imbalance of adolescents + Social networking=VERY BAD THING. I could be overreacting, but I know from previous experiences I have deleted photos and statuses just because they didn't have enough likes on them. Hell, I once took off Linkin Park from my 'likes' list because none of my friends liked them. The pressure to be socially acceptable in teenagers these days only increases their insecurity and need for a good reputation, hence the internet.

So what do you think about Social Networking and its impact on Self Esteem?

*raises hand* I HAVE A SUGGESTION!

Ok, i dont know whether there is a Most Talented member or not, but even for stuff like Best Musician, i think there should be some kind of Talent Quest instead of nominations. Anyone who wants to be up for the award should post their best sample, and THEN have people vote. Now this may more or less be a stupid idea, but i think its better that users get a better picture of people who actually want the award, rather than just nominating for anyone. The title of Best Musician, Best Video Editor etc etc should be decided through some sort of competition, maybe as well as nominations? Idk if that will work, but yeah thats my suggestion :)
