I can understand why people like to dissect works and look at pieces for how good they are in and of themselves though. It's a good way to understand that specific element and possibly make use of that understanding in the context of something else. It's just never my first reaction because I like to look at things as a whole and evaluate interconnectiveness and overall unity. It's like a computer program with a hundred working classes and thirty failing classes is still a broken program and needs to be repaired regardless of how well those hundred that are working are doing.
