I feel like they should be able to on principle but I'm pretty sure it's actually based on the model. I've got basically no experience with anything of that nature made after 1975 though, so don't take my word for it.

If you play it at a live venue shaped area, maybe. Live music's sound it shaped by so many things that a recording can never really capture since each performance depends on the crowd's reaction, the venue, how they feel like playing it that day and all that other stuff. But if you've got money to burn and you want a novelty item, then vinyl has more value than CDs in that category for sure.
They've got some other good songs, like Opening Band and the If _____ was _____ series. But their songs are more for comedy than musical quality. So Axis of Awesome and Flight of the Conchords are comparable in style.
Vinyls can run you more money but some they do give a slightly different kind of sound. Like modern vinyl, not classic records, can get better sound than some CD recordings according to some people. You really can't always hear it though. CDs have the advantage that while still remaining superior to MP3 and other lossy file formats they can be ripped for their audio files and thus be more reliable and maintain more plays. So they're both high sound quality formats if you get the right stuff but one looks nice and is a talking point and the other has more portability and utility.
