I'm not good at Magic per se but I know a lot about it. There's no real place for a beginner in any of the competitive formats but if you're trying to get into it with your friends see how many cards you have and see if you can do a draft cube from what you have. That way there will always be variety in what's getting played and you want have a reason to buy too many more due to an arms race mentality developing as happens when people have their own decks and cards in a small community.

Windows 7 and 8 can also use flash drives as this pseudo swap space I'm pretty sure but it will eventually kill them because flash drives have a finite rewrite amount or something.
