    DAY 20
    Thursday, October 11, 2013
    [IMG]

Henrik sat up slowly and blinked several times as his vision came into focus. The dream from last night was nothing but a blur of images. It was far less coherent than the others had been for the past few days. He looked over at Iris, noticing that for once she was not tossing and turning. She was probably too tired to do so. He decided to let her sleep for a while longer while he got up and began to get dressed. Once he was ready Henrik went downstairs and made a call to a distant family member back in the States to ask that a very specific favor be done for him.

There was no mere coincidence about it, that was certain. The details of his latest dream held the conclusion of that man's story but the most prominent images were that of his gun...and where Henrik could only assume it remained. The odds of it ever having been there were slim but the fact that he was connected to it must have meant something. The favor Henrik asked for was to have a family member go to the house he had lived in when he was a child, in the States, and check if the gun was still where his dream had told him it had been stashed decades ago. The fact that Henrik still had family near his old home made things only that much more interesting. Perhaps it was fate. Even if the gun was found, Henrik was unsure of what possible use he could have for it other than the obvious. He was certain that a gun would be less effective than his powers in the future. 'But maybe there's something more...'

After exchanging pleasantries with his cousin, he ended the call. It would take some time before his cousin would call back and Henrik intended to make the most of today. Alistair was probably still in town but Henrik decided that it would be best that he let Alistair seek him out rather than the other way around. For now, he intended to continue with his practice.

    Deep Down

WHY AREN'T YOU GUYS TALKING ABOUT HOW SEXY THOSE FIRE EFFECTS ARE? WHY?

Seriously though, we don't know if this will be an MMO. It's an online dungeon crawler game. It's probably going to be a bit like Dark Souls(haven't played it but I know it has an online component). Probably people can jump in and out of the game or influence it...or act as teammates. Or maybe it'll employ a system like Capcom's own Dragon's Dogma where you make an ally(Pawn) and your ally would be available for hire for other players to use. Of course, nothing much will be confirmed until TGS though. I doubt this is an MMO. I haven't read that it will be.

Even though it sounded as if Alistair was hinting at something more, besides the obvious stolen heart comment he made, Henrik still did not trust him. Alistair said he did not desire to harm him or his family, but that did not mean Alistair would not be forced to do so. Even if Alistair still did not try to hurt Iris or his unborn, making an ally out of another person like himself did not seem like the best idea.

That night, Henrik told Iris of who had come to visit. He would not keep her in the dark. As she prepared for bed Henrik continued to work on building strength in his abilities and not until long after Iris had went to sleep and his own mental stamina been drained did Henrik finally go to bed. Through the migraine he mulled over recent events such as the disasters, natural and unnatural, and the appearance of another angel like himself. Things were beginning to move faster and Henrik was beginning to grow frustrated with his own progress. He cursed his own mortal body, knowing it was only hindering his progress, and soon went to sleep before his mood further worsened.

"Same species?" Henrik nodded. "I suppose that's one way you could put it." He folded his arms and leaned against the door frame. From the sounds of it, Alastair did not seem too fond of Temeluchas. Unless, of course, he was masochistic. That was always a possibility. "You came a long way just to talk." Henrik commented. He would have invited Alastair inside...if he was stupid.

"So since we in a similar position, as you say, do you have some sort of mutually beneficial proposition in mind?" Yes, Henrik still knew how to use big fancy words. He was a doctor as well. Albeit an entirely different kind than Alastair.

OOC: Short post because we need to finish this interaction before the end of the day.

Apparently it's an online game. As for how much "online"...well, we don't know. Here's a new trailer and some really cool stuff from Capcom's new Phanta Rhei engine, which is being used in this game:

That was the first time he had heard of the earthquake. It wasn't surprising as he and Iris had been too busy to pay any attention to the news. Henrik crossed his arms and scratched his chin thoughtfully as he leaned over his empty plate.

    "What is it?"

"First a plane crash in the States. Then another that was coming to this side of the world. Then an earthquake that caused a lot of damage. Not to mention recent storms that have been causing a lot of damage."

"And you're thinking it's the end of the world?"

"Not exactly, but I'm sure our recent visitors...or friends of theirs must be trying really hard to kill some important people." Henrik sighed. 'If they can cause damage on this kind of scale, I'm out of my league. I need to multiply my efforts by several factors... Today.' He mulled it over as the sound of someone knocking on the door caused Iris to get up and cautiously take a peek through the window. Henrik turned around, breaking concentration as Iris opened the door upon seeing that it was neither Danel nor Temeluchas.

    "Henrik, we have another visitor."

He immediately rose from his seat and ran over to the front door. Henrik vaguely recognized this man. A doctor from another country. He had worked on some high profile cases but Henrik hardly paid attention attention to these kinds of things. Breakthroughs in medicine could hardly help his research in any way. Though, now that he thought about it, perhaps this man might be able to help Iris. These thoughts passed through Henrik's mind in an instant and even as he processed several things at once, he began to speak.

"Doctor Grey, correct?" Henrik spoke in English as he did not know Irish, the country he knew Alistair was from. It was not one of the nine languages he knew as there were hardly any major scientific papers from that country that he was concerned about. English seemed like a good alternative to use. Henrik's own accent was indistinct. German and English were his first two languages. So of course he was perfectly fluent in both. "You didn't come all this way to discuss String Theory, did you?" Even if it was a more recognizable face than that of Danel's or Temeluchas's, Henrik knew better than to trust this man. Uninvited guests were hardly the highlight of his day.

And it'll be infinitely better than having Star Trek characters in Kingdom Hearts! ...And Spock appears in several TNG episodes anyways.

That would make Kingdom Hearts the best series to ever be created ever. Maybe Eraqus could be Captain Picard.

"Put your gun down. I'm not your enemy."

"You blew an unarmed man's brains out! Drop the gun. Nice and slowly." The detective kept his distance from Araquiel and aimed the gun at his head.

"Yeah. I guess I did." He grinned and kicked the corpse's torso before holding up his revolver by the barrel and offering the grip to the other man. "Like it? It took me weeks to modify it." The detective took his gun and motioned for Araquiel to get on the ground. "There's barely anything left from the original piece but there wasn't any way I could..." Araquiel looked down at the nearly decapitated corpse at his feet. "...Make such lovely art out of a forty-five. That there is a one-of-a-kind--"

"Shut the fuck up and get on the ground!"

"..Revolver. Notice how it only holds five rounds instead of six?" In response to Araquiel's refusal to listen to him, the detective fired off a shot just inches away from his foot. It seemed that bringing down his own brand of justice was frowned upon by the uniformed law enforcement. It was a pity, as he felt that they could hardly do the job as well as he could. He clenched his fists before lunging at the other man.

"Ugh..." Henrik rubbed his eyes. 'That looked like the same guy as before.' He sat up and rubbed the back of his neck as he collected his thoughts. From what he could tell, his most recent dreams took place somewhere around the twenties back over at the U.S. The dream seemed to have taken place some time after the one from the previous day but he could not draw any further details from that, even the background was a complete haze. He hated the thought that somewhere, deep down, he was one step away from becoming a cold-blooded vigilante. He looked over at Iris who was still tossing and turning.

"Wakey wakey." He muttered lowly as he shook her shoulder gently. No response. Henrik shook her again, this time it caused Iris to snap awake and gasp loudly. "Relax. You were just having a nightmare."

    "Oh...I thought I was awake..."

Henrik leaned over and kissed her on the cheek before getting out of bed. "Just sit tight and I'll make us some breakfast." He paused for a moment. "No, I won't burn the house down." Iris made no reaction to his joke. "It's alright. There's nothing under the bed or behind the closet."

    "Promise?"

He laughed. There was her sense of humor. "Promise." He left the bedroom, intent on taking a different approach than normal when it came to making food. No hands. An iron skillet was heavier than the various objects he was used to moving around with his ability. Besides, he wasn't the best cook around. Using a power like that could hardly make his food taste worse.

Some of the more childish things I used to like aren't exactly...things I don't really care for now(some shows I used to watch when I was five) but generally speaking I still like many of the things I did when I was much younger. I've just expanded my tastes. So I just like more things now that I didn't when I was younger. I remember watching Spongebob when it was still a new show. Years later, I still love Spongebob! So does my brother who's five years older than me.

"Maybe if you put down those books once in awhile and practiced on your technique a little more you wouldn't be spending so much time on the ground."

"What's the point? There hasn't been a war to fight in nearly three thousand years. Armed forces only exist to fend off the occasional monster and-"

"That may not always be the case, son."

"Lorima would never attack us. The closest thing we've had to a conflict with them is the time their president made a joke about the domestic dragons in our country. Our president thought it was funny!"

    "Hm."

"I'm not like you. I don't enjoy fighting. I'm not even good at it!"

"There's something I need to show you."

Sounds of knocking awoke Kendric from his dream. He rubbed his eyes and sat up on the couch he had slept on. The girls had taken a bedroom and Kendric had been too tired to check to see if there was another free one and he was afraid of running into Artan's mourning parents. He took in a deep breath, only remembering voices from the dream he had. It was strange that it was a memory rather than something entirely made up in his sleep. The knocking came again, this time even louder than before.

"Tasnican police, open up!" Came a man's voice from the other side.

Kendric shook his head quickly trying to force himself to get out of his drowsy state. He picked up the sword he had placed beside the couch last night, the one he took from the underground armory, and went over towards Zauriel. "Wake up." He spoke in a hushed voice. Kendric began waking the others if they hadn't already escaped their slumber due to the noise outside.

"Take the back door out, I'll stall them." Artan's father spoke, having been woken up as well to answer the front door. Kendric nodded in return and began opening the door in the back.

The yard was rather large but empty with patches of dry grass here and there. "Come on, guys." He called out quietly. He took a few steps forward only to come face to face with a Dire Wolf. A white wolf that was about the size of an adult. They were rarely kept as pets because of how dangerous they could be. "Um...nice doggy." Rather than immediately mauling Kendric or growling at him, the Dire Wolf sat down and wagged its tail. It seemed docile. 'The last thing I want to do is get in a fight with that thing. It could eat me whole!'

Henrik played with the silver ring on his left hand, rotating it slowly on his finger. He wasn't the type to wear any kind of jewelry and he couldn't help but feel like the piece of silver--platinum to be totally accurate--was restricting in some way. Though saying that kind of thing out loud might be interpreted as something else. He took in a deep breath and looked over at Iris who was finally hanging up the phone after arguing with some of her extended family over the fact that the two did not invite them. It was too short of a notice to go about doing things normally. Only Iris's direct family had been invited.

"Things will be confusing back at the university." Henrik commented as Iris came to sit by him.

    "Hm?"

"There's two Doctor Brandt's now. Maybe they should call me mister doctor Brandt. ...Mister doctor professor Brandt." Iris weakly pushed on his arm in response. "Sleepy?" She nodded at him. At the start of the day Iris had been almost hyper and one would hardly be able to tell that she had been ill but with all the excitement and activity of the wedding(both by court and church) her strength had faded before the day had even ended. He looked at the time and, even though it was late, thought that he would have been able to squeeze some time in for practicing with his powers. Though at this hour he would hardly be able to push his limits. Crushing objects wasn't exactly much of a challenge and there were plenty of ideas he had in store, ideas that would have to wait for tomorrow morning. For now, Henrik decided it was time to sleep with his wife.

Really? I'm the first person to vote no? Rep has more value but it was abused a lot. In the past I've gotten ganged up on several times by people who didn't like me and once got six dereps on a single post. Likes are abused but at least there's no way to go about it in a negative way unless you spent your time un-Liking every like you've given someone.

I've seen that we might have to start from scratch if we get rid of Likes and switch to Rep. Personally, I'm not okay with that. Just limit Likes and it's problem solved. Don't see what the big deal about the name is and I've been here a pretty long time. XD

He drew his Colt from his coat, checking the chamber to make sure it was fully loaded. Shots echoed in the distance. There was no doubt to him that it was a Tommy. He ran against the crowd as sirens screamed just around the corner. He abruptly stopped as a stray bullet clipped his fedora. The man threw it off, having forgotten that he had chosen to wear a bright white hat that only gave his position away. Gangsters were a troublesome group. Always killing, always pushing at the law while parading about as the peoples' heroes. He hated their kind.

Shots from pistols fired off. No doubt they belonged to the police. He took his chance and ran around the corner, ducking behind a copper's car only to have an officer point his gun at him. "Just a concerned citizen." The young officer, who hardly seemed to be much older than a boy, looked over at his partner who had been wounded then back at the man. He was hardly in a position to refuse help. "Cover me." Without waiting for any response he rolled over the hood of the car and fired off three shots before the officer finally got his act together and began firing at the building their aggressors had taken shelter in.

The man did not know how many of them there were and with three bullets left, he was still confident they would prove no trouble to him once he got close. Criminals needed to be punished. He caught a glimpse of one through a window, completely unaware that he had managed to flank them, and fired. One bullet, one corpse. The remaining men began to curse upon noticing their comrade had been killed. They aimed at the shattered window. Two bullets, two more corpses, and one empty Colt. From the sounds of a desperate man inside the building, surrounded and trapped like a caged animal, he knew that only one remained. The man hopped in through the broken window and grinned upon coming in front of a lone gangster aiming his Tommy at him. The man snapped his hand forward. The machine gun fired but it was now facing harmlessly up to the air. The muzzle burnt the man's hand but he didn't seem to notice as he tore the gun from the gangster's grip and tossed it to the side.

"What the hell!?" He took several steps back, pressing up against the wall behind him. The man stuffed his Colt into his pocket and approached the criminal without saying a word. "Alright, I surrender!" The gangster threw up his arms.

"Yes. You will surrender your life."

    "I'm unarmed!"

    "You will be."

Of course, the events that happened afterwards were still running through Henrik's mind. Even with what today was supposed to be, he couldn't get it out of his head. His nightmares were beginning to become harder to separate from reality.

First off, don't worry about living up to anyone's expectations other than your own. That's a fast track to depression and many people have been in that situation. As for not having the will to really do things, even if it's something you like...well my advice is to ask yourself what you really want to work on. Something specific. Generalizations of what goals you want to achieve won't help you. You need something specific to work towards, something that really means something to you. What you need is focus and that's not something you can just pull out of thin air.

You're not in a terrible situation though. There's no set cure for procrastination other than just sheer force of will or a swift kick in the ass. Preferably you'll choose the former.

Of course not. It's entirely possible to have fun and not be douchebags about it. I'm wondering why this is in the debate corner. XD I seriously doubt anyone's going to say otherwise. There's no legitimate reason to make life hard on locals when you're on vacation.

Aiden let Lex run right ahead of him, taking his time as he leisurely strolled past the starting line without bothering to even jog. A rock wall blocked his view of the second half of the course but what he could see from the first half, as he studied it, nothing seemed too out of the ordinary. He decided he would wait for Lex to reach the wall before using his abilities to catch up and drag him to the end.

If the course was meant for solo runs rather than pairs, Aiden would have finished before Lex even reached the wall. Seeing as how that wasn't the case... "Don't go tripping over those fences!" He called out to his teammate. "And watch it for those bots!" Aiden added. He stopped not far from the starting point as he stretched his legs out. He knew he couldn't blame him but already Aiden felt that Lex was taking too long. He popped his neck and rolled his shoulders and, in an instant, he overtook Lex. Aiden crossed his arms and leaned against the rock wall. The discs that were meant to fire did not even register Aiden's passing leaving the "discobots" (as Aiden now thought of them) standing idly by to beat down on Lex when he arrived.

"Come on! There's some nice rendium with your name on it waiting here!" Aiden looked back at the rock wall. After a moment of thought he decided it wasn't a waste of effort to start climbing the rock wall without Lex. After all, there was nothing he could do to help him in this portion of the race. Aiden was fast but he couldn't chuck Lex over the fences or stop the metal discs with his bare hands and shoving Lex out of the way hardly seemed like a better option when Lex still had his own powers to use...for now. And look, Arch finally posted after five thousand years.
