If you don't contribute more thoroughly, these japes will get suspicious quickly.[DOUBLEPOST=1408470785][/DOUBLEPOST]
He wants to get rid of a liability to town. If we must lynch randomly, better to lynch someone who won't do any good alive. It's a pretty decent strategy, to be honest.

I still think Beau is a better target though.

The deadline will be closing in come tomorrow. Think of how you can confirm your suspicions. If you don't get any leads, you will end up having to follow someone else's lead or face a no lynch. Don't be sheep.

Vigs are primarily pro-town roles so long as they are rational and use their shots wisely. If you are the vig and you are reading this, don't fire from the hip. Make sure your aim is true. Collaborate with the other players. Ask questions, shoot later.

I'm with Crowley, strategy wise. Scaring people into silence makes a lot of sense. A no lynch is a perfect win scenario for mafia. Tonight, however, the chances of anyone getting close to singling in on mafia are low. They have as little info as we do.[DOUBLEPOST=1408462297][/DOUBLEPOST]
That is part of the fun~.

If town can control the mafia, they are a step ahead so to speak.

Who do you think mafia will target tonight?[DOUBLEPOST=1408422353][/DOUBLEPOST]That goes to everyone, by the way, not just Marushi and What?.

    Aren't we repeating ourselves?

What kind of investigating are we talking about? Why isn't it happening now?

Suppose you lynch mafia day one. Chances are the mafia either joined in at the last minute or actively argued against the lynch.

How many voted to lynch them? How did they vote? When? How much convincing did they take to join the mob? Who focused on other people? Who didn't vote at all?

Mafia don't have to think very hard or react very strongly to a mislynch. No matter who the mislynch is on, all they have to do is agree. How they react when one of their own is under fire is bound to be more erratic. Each vote after the initial lynch adds to the info you already have, compounding it. It sets mafia on their toes, forces them to make a stand, and makes them nervous and likely to slip up. What's to fear?

I made a script that grabs all posts by a user in the thread just for these purposes.

Othewise, open up a note pad and take notes of suspicious activity. Linking to posts is useful.

I think it would be a little more suspicious if they got super defensive, but doing nothing isn't good either.

If all they do is sheep other cases later, they'll stay at the top of my list.

All of this is solid reasoning, but it doesn't get us closer to finding mafia.

If someone were mafia, how would you find out that they were?

@What?: I see you viewing the thread. Do you have any input yet?

If we get to the end of the day and there is a no-lynch, there is a 100% chance of not killing mafia. If we lynch someone on even the basest of suspicions, there is at least a 15% chance of killing mafia (20% if there are 4 mafia). Mafia have a 100% chance of killing town tonight. On the other hand, even if we mislynch today, the events involved in the lynch will give us info. Some of the people involved will be mafia.

I don't think town can afford to wait for info to present itself. They have to fish for it.

Wagons cont.: It's often best to use that logic retroactively after someone is mislynched, after you know that they are town. That way you know some of the sheep are mafia. If the person you killed actually is mafia, then the last minute sheep are very suspicious; possibly mafia trying to save face by killing a scum buddy they know is going down anyway. This type of reasoning makes up a lot of the cases late game.

In other words, keep track of voting records.

Hahaha, wow, I wouldn't have noticed.

Two last pieces of strategy for now:

Wagons: When a wagon forms on someone, especially a fast or end-of-day wagon, chances are some of the people on it are mafia. Look for the people with the weakest reasons or who are just sheeping (agreeing with) others' cases on them. Likewise, as town, it is best to form ideas for yourself by reading the person's posts. If you find yourself agreeing with the cases of others without actually reading over the target's posts, you may be sheep to the slaughter.

Reads: Try to figure out what role you think everyone is to the best of your ability. Focus on getting the people you think are scum to give info. Sometimes this means the people who don't say much: sitting back and letting you wallow in content on other players is an effective scum tactic. Don't let them fool you into focusing on active towns instead. When forming and confirming reads, ask pointed questions like who they think is mafia. If you have tunnel vision on only one target, you are shooting yourself in the foot. Should they flip town, you will have to start over from scratch with a newfound doubt in your reading ability. I use my three top scum reads as a top of the head list and vote my highest read. This way I am one step ahead whether I am right or wrong about my first target.

    Speaking of...

@What? and @Beau: Any suspicions so far?

Depends on the game. Some games let one mafia take the kill in case the others aren't around at the time or something.

However, I can't think of any ways to find a vigilante out outside of cop roles.

    Yeah.

I'm trying too hard because mafia is a team game. If you aren't going to help then you are a liability to town, or mafia. Town nearly always lose this game. Sitting back and watching is not a luxury you have as town.
