Um, I'm guessing it's just a graphics glitch then? Did you try turning settings up?

Are you using emuhaste? Did you activate it during the cutscene? Did you activate animations when the battle started?

I had this problem and switching to an iso fixed it. As well as made it run smoother.

I think it has to do with using a CD, if you are. Just burn the CD into an .iso and the HP meter should show up.

If that fails to work, try changing the graphics settings a little higher.

Oh god this game.

I've played it before, and it's actually pretty fun. I like the RPG element they have. It's especially fun in a group.
