They went from Squaresoft to Square Enix because the company almost went down after The Spirits Within did horribly in the box office so they merged with Enix to save themselves and thus became Square-Enix. As for the name change back to Square while it does make me wonder why they took out the Enix part, it doesn't really bother me much. As long as games are being made, I have no reason to complain xD

A second MEP? Who told you there would be a second one? Because I'm not planning on making a second one at the moment.
I liked the first avatar out of the two. It's clean, simple and the positioning is decent, but I think you could've made the render smaller to have more space to work with. The second one looks a little unappealing with its heightened brightness. Are those circles? I see you've been copying Mis*shot*. But seriously I think it could've used more. Right now it just looks like a beige-ish void with a render, some circles and some text slapped on top of it. I think the composition could've needed more elements. You'd be amazed at how some simple things can make a composition better. For example, a simple circle in front of the render and some lighting could've created some depth, making it less flat and other elements like a C4D or paint splatters also could've been used to create some flow.
