I would say that you did well in speaking and such, and told them how things were but in the end, I think you are also being way too critical here.

Your friends are your friends and when they said they changed their minds and weren't going to do it, you still are punishing them. Whether -you- are allergic to smoke or not, should not be of concern for them as they would not be smoking around you. It's kind of selfish and misplaced for you to be mad at them for that thing since it won't even happen that way. However, being upset that they'd decide to use drugs and such for their own health, and not wanting to be around that is the right reason to not hang out with them, if that bothers you so much. It seems though that they were both willing to put it aside and so having a talk with them and that you don't want to see them hurt themselves or become embroiled in a life of drugs that is less cool and exciting than their friends make it out to be, would be the option I would take.

Friends make mistakes. I doubt I could lose 'respect' for my friends for such a thing since I have friends that do smoke pot and cigs etc. I would lose respect for those friends if they did something stupid such as stole, lied, cheated, treated someone like crap, drove around like a drunk idiot, etc instead. We all have our vices so I don't get hung up on them unless I can point out that the vice is the culprit for how stupid someone is being. In life, you are bound to meet all sorts of people. Anyway, my point in saying what I did is not to convince you to change your mind on drugs really, but to say that if you are too strong in your stance, and so furious with your friends, they might not be your friends anymore and this peer pressure they are listening to is only going to cause them to fall into the bad habits because that one good friend isn't around anymore to say it's not needed. They care about the opinions of others, perhaps too much. You seem to matter to them both, so maybe it will turn them around as you are strong-willed enough to not do the stuff. Of course, you have an angle they don't. You have athsma so you would never be attracted to doing something that well, harms you greater than others, and you know what it's like to lose your breath constantly, which is something that happens to people who smoke a lot, years down the road. Maybe that's something to point out to them too.

I hope things get better for you and your friends wake up and don't just do things because others around them lead them to it. Good luck.

Repliku - because I am me.
L - because it was amusing and people keep saying I am like him.
Repliku again - because it's what I'm used to around here.

But you knew that, of course, ICSP!

Eve Brondsningham (Styx) has a flowing style of writing that is eloquent and expressive, almost dreamy with how she paints the scene. It has a surreal feeling to it that was relaxing to read. Maybe there are some areas that are still a bit too shadowed, but that excerpt draws me in to want to read more on how this girl doesn't fit in and is awkward.

Stephanie Meyers has a style of writing that is like picking up some girl's diary and reading it. It's very simple and easy to grasp but it's also not very imaginative and doesn't keep me gripped. Of course, reading the diary of someone I would know might keep me more entertained than reading about some girl's experiences who I don't care for. However, reading it, the girl is not really that 'different' and is just critical of herself.

In the end, I'd say I prefer Eve's writing to Stephanie's because of the flow and surreal feeling it brings out which kind of makes me able to focus on the book and less on what's around me. It draws me more into caring about the book and the girl who is awkward and out of place, but it also lets the reader have the option of wanting to know more and gives you a chance as a reader to discern things that are lacking from the other author.

It's not even that the Twilight book is written in 1st person. There are novelists who have written in 1st person as well, such as Ann Rice's books on the vampires, particularly Lestat but others too. Those also have a nice flow to them that make me want to keep going and understand the 1st character's train of thought and perception but also how he or she tries to fill in the depth, emotions and acts of others around or even questions reality. Stephanie's writing just seems so banal, kiddish and well, she's not very perceptive herself but to what she is definitely trying to get the reader to notice. There's no guess work that her own frame of mind is simple and the reader really is not drawn into a sense of depth or mystery. It's all spelled out that you -will- see it this way because the character does because Stephanie does. It makes the stories for some of us out there, rather boring.

Riku's move of dodge roll does seem kind of over-exaggerated but at the same time, he's stronger than Sora, and well his personality is to dodge but then attack, much like the little kip he does in KH1 fighting him, that he will retaliate with a counter. Once you get used to it, it can be useful, but it is awkward at first. In the end, it shows the two's different fighting styles based on how they are physically and mentally. Both are effective for what the two want to do. I do miss the dodge leap but with 3d, maybe it just made more sense with how things look to give him this new dodge roll. In a way, though, I wish they had just kept the dodge leap since even in KH2, against Roxas, Riku seemed to use that instead. Ah well, though.

You can be spiritual and cognitive, and not be religious. I am atheist but I do practice things of buddhism, such as meditations, and I do martial arts and tai chi. I read a lot and keep up with things in the 'scientific' world as well as psychology and spiritual things to have a code for myself that I can believe in, despite not being religious. People like that are more philosophers and examiners of life rather than committing to one belief and there's nothing wrong with that.

It's a good thing sometimes to come clean and resolve to apologize for some misdeed done. Especially if it's for something like bullying and coming to realize how wrong it was. However, if the person at the time just scoffs it off, I would not get mad at him or her. After all, I tormented the person for a while so that person has a reason to emotionally not be set to just say 'it's cool'. Through your actions, you can prove yourself a changed person, where words don't always cut it. If someone doesn't let things go after that point, let them be and move on. The person holds grudges and you should not bother to hold one against him or her for not forgiving you. You did the best you could to prove the point and if things work out bad between you, it's now on the other person who will not let things go.

I hope things work out for you. It takes a big person to apologize for something like bullying, and to even see the error in it. You're going in the right direction and don't let some hiccups slow you down.

This is being moved to Forum Assistance as it does not belong in this area. This is a 'help' area for Kingdom Hearts games.

I found myself agreeing with everything King said. I really just do not like Twilight and the only ones around me who seem to hardly read books anyway unless they are a fad. Harry Potter books were wrote with more depth to them than I feel Twilight books are. I suppose some people like the writing style as it's easy to get and she's colored up the characters, but I can't get into it and I doubt I'll get over the 'vampires glitter' stuff anytime soon. What a curse.. you in the sun.. glitter. Edward and his emo pals sure have a hard life. Even the 'bad' vampire is boring to me, but then again, I realize some people aren't into the actual more scary aspect of vampires and this is just a drama in the end. Still though, King's words were pretty much echoing my own thoughts.

You can get Avast! and/or AVG the free version. You may have to, as the person above mentioned, uninstall and reinstall Spybot for it to take. See if any of these assist you and let us know.
