The official website says "new world, new Pokémon, and new adventures". Putting that with the way the trailer was framed, reviewing the debuts of all past generations before revealing Sun and Moon, it looks a whole lot like Gen VII to me.
The games have officially been announced! They will launch worldwide this holiday season, and be playable in nine different languages--English, Japanese, French, Spanish, German, Italian, and Korean, as well as Traditional and Simplified Chinese. They will, of course, also be compatible with Pokémon Bank. Trailer below:

Aaaand here are the Splatfest results! In Japan, Pokémon Red won 61% of the popular vote, and Pokémon Green 39%. However, Pokémon Green managed to grab 64% of the victories, as opposed to Pokémon Red's 36%. And so with a final point matchup of 277-423, the winner of Japan's Pokémon Splatfest is Pokémon Green! In North America, Pokémon Red once again won the popular vote, with 55% against Pokémon Blue's 45%. But once again, Pokémon Red fell short with actual victories; Pokémon Blue won 59% of the matches, while Pokémon Red only took 41%. With a final point count of 301-399, the winner of North America's Pokémon Splatfest is Pokémon Blue! In Europe, Pokémon Red continued to dominate the popular vote, with 64% to Pokémon Blue's 36%. And once again, Pokémon Blue dominated the Splatfest matchups, taking 57% of the victories, leaving Pokémon Red with 43%. With a final score of 322-378, the winner of Europe's Pokémon Splatfest is Pokémon Blue! Don't forget! There are only a few more days to grab codes to download your 20th Anniversary Mew! And Pokémon Day is this Saturday! Get ready for the releases of Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow on the Nintendo 3DS eShop (with a few language options available in each region), and the restocking of Jigglypuff, Lucario, Greninja, and Pikachu amiibo!

oh my god it's a ball so CLEARLY it's a BAKUGAN you SWINE
okay but why would you not put this in the gaming section As far as 3DS games go, since it's the only current system I own (excluding PC because my laptop is bad): 5. Mega Man Legacy Collection 4. Metroid Prime: Federation Force 3. Hyrule Warriors Legends 2. Ace Attorney 6 1. 7th Dragon III Code: VFD Games in general: 5. The Last Guardian 4. Final Fantasy XV 3. The Legend of Zelda 2. Kingdom Hearts HD II.8 Final Chapter Prologue 1. Pokemon Go Runners-up: ABZU, Yooka-Laylee, Mighty No. 9, No Man's Sky, Genei Ibun Roku #FE, Pokken Tournament, Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom
That would actually be 7th Dragon III Code: VFD for the 3DS, the fourth game in the series. There's also 7th Dragon for the DS, the first game, as well as 7th Dragon 2020 and its sequel, 7th Dragon 2020-II, both for the PSP. None of those three have been released outside of Japan.
