Because it's a video game on a video game system, I have all the options that the system includes. These are valid strategies to winning the game. And what are you even implying? That story and dialogue is the more to it? No, those are rewards for winning, and you only get the full canon if you are optimal and don't lose anyone. Those also are part of the video portion rather than the game portion.
If I choose not to reset, it's me opting out of optimal conditions. Which no player would. You wouldn't opt to not take down a queen in chess. It comes down to the same choice. Resetting is a skill in the arsenal of the player. Meanwhile, "casual mode" allows me to feel comfortable with not resetting, but I can still mess up enough to lose. In fact, because there's no long term loss for making an error, you're prone to make more errors and give the game more chances to win. A reset isn't a loss, it's a redo. I could continue without the death, but why should I as a player of games? There's no benefit other than not having to redo the battle. Something that "casual mode" also allows without having to just accept a disadvantage. Again, because I don't have to repeat the same turns for perfection, I can actually lose the battle.
I'm sorry this thread hit three pages.
...But why's he a wolf....
No, I just don't want to have to reset. It's not casual because you still have the same defeat conditions each battle that are easily attainable by the battle itself. I want to be able to lose without having to redo every single step. I'm giving the game a chance to beat me. That's not casual to me.
Ah, I see. I guess now's the time to give a try, maybe.
Casual mode is such a terrible name for that though. It's not casual. It's an entirely different set of difficulty with different rules.
Prodding others to do work isn't what I meant when I said encourage your friends. When I said encourage your friends, I meant don't say "MAAAN MAKE MORE THREADS YA HOMO, YOU FUNNY," but rather support them when they want to and convince them to make a thread around their random thoughts if you think it's good enough. Complaining has no specific target. Are you suddenly going to convince all the users here by whining? No, look, nothing changed with this thread. No one took this as a message. Where are all the threads? I don't see them. Can't be the same then, right. One mentality got a 3000+ post thread to exist, fun conversations being posted and commented on, a revival of the fun and games section. One resulted in NOTHING. IT'S ALWAYS NOTHING WITH YOUR BITCHING PEOPLE. You know why rep is getting done? Because we sat there and offered a way to do it. We showed so much passion that we even gave them instructions on what we wanted done. You know what we didn't do? "i miss rep. we should bring back rep." and just BITCH and then get mad when our complaints fell on people who didn't care to answer them. You know why the mobile interface is being looked at by staff? Because I showed them why it was piss poor and didn't work. I took action and did something. I didn't just bitch take action or encourage others do but don't just whine. One of my favorite streamers once said he hates when people ask "Why is chat dead?" and responds to it every time with "that's why chat is dead" which is true. Encourage conversation or get out in that instance, it's not something that will be fixed with complaining. Guess what? That scenario? Very similar to this one.
It's a thing that nearly everyone does, however, is the problem. That is why they gave us this new option, because constant resetting is a big problem for people enjoying the series. It was a good observation to make for the developers and the new mode was a good choice. It doesn't make the game any easier or harder. You're still stuck to the limits of the board.[DOUBLEPOST=1405889433][/DOUBLEPOST] Fair enough. See, I've played both Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn. The first, I didn't reset when I lost someone. Lost Boyd, which was a very big loss. Meanwhile, I opted to do what everyone else does when I played Raidant Dawn: reset to prevent death, play it perfectly. And to me... it killed ALL momentum. All of it. I got half way and just didn't care for the routine anymore.
No, you didn't specify. I'm specifically talking about content being generated for user enjoyment. If the end goal here is for more people to give content, then I have news for you: it takes ambition and an attempt at being interesting. Everyone has access to that "post new thread" button, and boy, if you want more people to create content, then press it. Because I got news for ya, we're not going to make a chore wheel for thread creators so everyone gets a turn. You want to see more diverse threads? Make them. Encourage your friends to make them. Complaint threads are even less useful than sitting around and doing nothing.
I think classic mode is wrong and outdated. There's no reason to reset every time you choose the wrong Square. Rather, there's much more of a story to tell if you lose all but one character in a battle and he picks up and carries every near-corpse out of there and turns into a powerhouse that can sit back and lead the troops while they gain EXP the next battle.
What, does he have a bandcamp or something with some just regular, non-vidya related, music? There's not much (if any of that) on his YouTube...
That marriage proposal is still on the table.
That's.... odd. And yeah, he does. Weirdly I think I found him when I used to like Game Grumps? Glad he's stepped away from that.
Yeah, James loved the fuck out of this. I'm actually upset with myself that I overlooked it in my subscriptions.
I have a thread with over 3000 posts. Nova has a hit game. Very well.
They'll go to other places
