YOOOOOOOOOOOOOO So, I've been busy these last few days working on... well, my life. So I haven't really been able to keep tabs or post in this thread. BUT WE HIT IT WE HIT THE GOAL I can't even put in to words the gravity of this.... I went from going to have to do embarrassing things for food like eat out of a McDonald's dumpster to make it through a few months. Now, I will be able to eat ramen daily and splurge on hot dogs once a week thanks to someone donating $25 MORE than what was asked. THIS IS SERIOUSLY LIFE CHANGING. You guys.... I am so thankful this Thanksgiving. Like, sure, I posted it in another place or two, but it was 90% you guys. We're a community of really like 100 regulars in this part of town, max. We're so tight and a lot of us don't even get along. But push came to shove, and ya'll looked out for me the absolute best you could. I don't even know what to say.... So I don't know how to ask this or bring this up at all, so I'm just going to paste what I said in the campaign here Spoiler My name is James Cobb. I've recently run into financial trouble. I'm currently living with a close friend; the same day I arrived, there was a bat loose in the walls of the apartment. In a panic we called the landlord to plan out repairs to bat-proof the apartment while dealing with scratches and screeches in the walls. Our landlord seemed more than cooperative... until the next day, when he stopped by under the guise of checking out the attic for bats. Instead, he stopped by to give my friend an eviction notice and said he was no longer comfortable with the weekly payment structure they informally agreed on a year ago. Thankfully, he is looking into the bats so hopefully that will no longer be an issue in a few days. Also thankfully, I have just enough in my bank account to get us up to speed and avoid eviction. Bad news? It will take every dime I have and every penny she has for the next couple months to play catch-up and earn enough to live decently. There will be no money for food, water, electricity, gas, or any other possible expense. I need around $230 total to make it through the next two months. This is a lot to ask of the small communities I frequent and the random people out there who may find this. But right now, I can only rely on your kindness. If just 20 people pitch in $10 a piece, we'll be in the ball park of keeping me off the streets until I begin work. Thank you for reading. You know, this guy made a shitty argument for this subject, we can all agree to that. In fact, this guy has zero idea about much of anything That said, I hate this entire video and have hated it since it came out. There's a line in there from the woman in the middle where she says that men should basically cater to needs if women are uncomfortable (hold on and keep reading, I'm not an idiot). In the argument she's making about this situation, she's absolutely right. If women are made uncomfortable by cat calling, you shouldn't cat call. Simple as. It even goes against the point of the cat call so what the hell guys. However, what she said keeps being taken out of context and applied to other forms and I can't stand it. I can't stand it keeps coming in to discussions with no place, and I can't stand that people are now pushing a narrative that women should have their needs catered too. Like, no one should want that. No one should quote her saying what she said because it sounds super weak and pathetic. Like I said, in this argument, it makes sense and she handled herself well. It's people taking it out of context that are just... Ruining it. Ugh.
