Is it an XL?
Don't let it go If you win Bano, I'm going to slap a hoe! now gimme my award!
But I am ug-a-lee *goes off into deep existential monologue* Seriously though, one of my absolute favorite characters in fiction period. Origato.
So...IS AMAURY PHONE??!!?
Be nice, please .
Appletinis all around!
I felt that number three had a lot of passion put into it, so I picked it.
From what I heard, didn't they catch a legendary, an achievement in itself, and then released it?
While I can't speak for what staff has in mind, my own idea would be that members would watch the movie on their own time since it's based around Netflix instead of doing a live stream for people. some members may want watching the movie to be a bit more of a social thing, which I would say to get a group of members on skype, everyone having netflix open, and starting the movie at the same time (Host would say "Okay guys, three, two, one, play"). As for musical scores, I would say that's also important to the discussion. In many movies, the score is an essential part of the film, almost like it's another character, and it's something that helps make the movie something special.
My favorite version of Let it Go is actually the French version of it. I love how the actress seemed to really portray the meaning of the song and poured emotion into every single note. I was crying from the very first moment I heard her voice. Of course, that's technically not a cover because it's apart of the French official release. So, I'll go with my second best, which is The Piano Guys.
My interest is peaked.
It's Rare Disease Day! Guess whose gonna be partying it up? :D
So after all of this, it's Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts 2 in the finals...
Y'know, I'll actually take some stiff combat over flashy stuff. Yes, the original game is pretty stiff, and has some really difficult puzzles. The HD Remix fixed a lot of things, but could still be called stiff. While KH2 had a lot more interest combat techniques, that also kind of turned me off. Kingdom Hearts 2, for the most part, wasn't all that difficult. The battles were very simplified and easy, and with the lack of platforming or puzzles, it could be very dull at times. I didn't really use my head to get from place to place. I haven't played Kingdom Hearts 2 in years, but I can bet I can start a game right now on Proud mode and beat the game with maybe one or two deaths. I've recently played HD Remix, and I'm pretty sure that I would really would have to give it my all, and still die a lot. I want my money's worth out of a game. I enjoy both games very much, each has their pros and cons. But I'll take function, but difficult combat that causes me to use my head to quick combat that over simplifies battles.
Impressions? Best scripted movie (in your opinion)? Oscar predictions? Favorite example of "Great story premise/terrible execution" (could be from anime, movies, books, etc.)?
In my 8th grade world history class, we watched a movie that took place after the war, where German citizens took tours of the concentration camps. They saw the living conditions as well as what the surivivors looked like after the whole ordeal. This was all archival footage done by the US Military to document everything so no one could prove that this didn't happen. It's all in black and white, but it's very haunting film, and not for the faint of heart. Thinking about it, I'm still shaken to the core about the images of men who you could see their skeletal structure through their skin. Life is Beautiful is also a great film. I will say that the dubbing is pretty cheesy because of when it was dubbed, but I think that adds an element to the film that makes it even more haunting and something to remember. It still showed the darkness of what happened, but it took a very different look on it all. It's very tragic, uplifting, and probably one of the most beautiful endings I've seen done on film. There is an old version of The Diary of Anne Frank that I saw several years ago. It was obviously based off the play, but you could tell that this version was made for film. I felt that it was well put together, really conveyed the struggles in the secret annex, and was very touching. There's also a BBC version of The Diary of Anne Frank on Netflix, and while it explores other thing about Anne Frank (essentially adapting the diary and not the play), it felt like it missed the whole point of her story. The first time I saw Schindler's List was only a few months ago. I knew how it's a tough film to get through, and the reason I watched it is probably not the same reason most people do. I watched it to see why it's such a landmark in film-making, not because it's a Holocaust story. That being said, I couldn't help but feel so impacted for what was going on. It didn't flinch away from the dark elements of what happened. A part of me felt that many of the violent scenes were unneeded because it didn't add to the story, but another part told me that they were needed, to show what these people were going through, and why what Schindler did was so important. I feel I need to watch the movie again, to study it as a film, but it's very hard to. I mean, when that solider shoots that woman in the head, I honestly forget that these are actors and actresses and feel like I was a witness to murder. One movie I want to see is Downfall. Yes, my interest is peaked because of the meme, but from what I've heard, the movie is really great, and gives an interesting look at another perspective of the situation. It reminds me of that post on tumblr, where it's two gifs of Hitler's home videos and he's flirting with his wife. It's absolutely haunting because this man who everyone compares to the Devil (and rightly so) was also human; he loved, he cried, and was just like us. That thought is terrifying.
So, this year I'm taking Online Publishing, which is basically a class where we put together a literary magazine that the school puts together every year on the internet. We needed to make flyers to help promote it. Our teacher said to think of anythign creative, even memes. While I was thinking of doing something for disaster girl (which my teacher absolutely loved), I decided to do this one instead... Spoiler View attachment 37658 My teacher snorted. Apparently, it's much funnier than I had intended...
Full Article I read through a number of articles before saying something. This article conveniently leaves out the fact that White students and Mexican students don't necessarily get along at this school. There have been problems, especially on Cinco de Mayo. To me, the white students don't wear the shirt because they're patriotic, but because they are flat out racist. Cinco de Mayo marks a battle between Mexico and France, which has nothing to do with America in the first place. To me, it's the equivalent of wearing a swastika during Passover. All that being said, this shouldn't have even been brought into the court. It's a ridiculous ruling on a ridiculous problem. People do have the right to wear what they want to wear, and I respect that. What I don't respect is you do this, implying that you are a higher human being than another because of your race/skin color/etc. I have no problem with the flag. I have a problem with people using it as something to mask their racism. And for fun, I wonder how many people upset about this are also upset that they are no longer allowed to discriminate against gays...
I get what you mean though, about the nostalgia factor. Your love looking back at the memory, but don't want to because you don't want to destroy that image. When I was a kid, I loved the Pokemon series like crazy, but when I watch it now, I can only stomach an episode or two at a time because of how dated it feels. On the other hand, I loved Kiki's Delivery Service when I was a kid; I'd try to find out when it was playing on Disney Channel. I was afraid to rewatch it when I bought it again years later because if I thought it was terrible, then I probably wouldn't've had the same feeling. I do like it though, but for different reasons than I did as a kid.
It's funny because I was just thinking about how people have so much pride about being a "'90's kid", when in reality, it's no better than any generation when you think about it. "Music wasn't this crappy back then." Well, a lot of it was, we just chose not to remember that stuff because it was crap. That's why the "classics" is only a small handful of songs.
