None of them carry it like that all the time. He basically uses his keyblade the way Kadaj uses the Souba. Its not really an important topic about a character. Each person weilds their weapon differently.
Summon Tinker Bell at the beginning of the fight. Run back and forth away from the attacks until you see an opening. Aero is helpful at times, too.

I don't think he meant backwards as in the key part at the end, but that the entire keyblade is pointing behind him (if not, then there are two things to be pointed out about his keyblade weilding). That's just a particular fighting style - a rather hard one, too. Kadaj uses this style in Advent Children, as does Mulan in Land of Dragons.
