I've always found it weird how people love Jecht and hate Tidus when they basically had the same character development in their stories. Jecht gets thrown into another world and starts off only caring about himself but during his pilgrimage with Braska and Auron, he learns to become more selfless and in the end, sacrifices himself to bring peace to the planet. He's a badass. Tidus gets thrown into another world and starts off only caring about himself and wanting to go home to Zanarkand. His ignorance and constant questioning of customs is what allows him to convince the party to find another way to defeat Sin. Along the journey, he becomes more selfless and comes to accept his fate as just a dream and in the end is completely willing to sacrifice his existence so that his love, friends and the rest of the world can live in peace and progress without having a huge space whale trying to kill them. Yet he's considered whiny. lolwut
