I wanna join in. I choose truth.
I wrote a very formal review, which I will link, giving my critical impressions on it. Of course, when it comes to writing a review, it's hard for me to express my own personal opinion on it. So, that will be the bulk of what I say here. Spoiler Oh my God, I love this movie. I definitely think that it's better than The Avengers, but didn't quite make it as my favorite film in the Marvel Universe; that goes to Iron Man 3. The two movies are pretty close in my head too; the only reason I like IM3 just a bit more is because I liked the final action sequence in that better than in Winter Soldier. Anyway, this had a lot of great moments, and had a story that felt very organic and had the characters running everything. Even while I still will complain about the "Oh, Nick Fury isn't really dead" thing, I can look past it when I look in deeper and see that Fury is very self serving, and will manipulate people in doing his bidding by any means necessary. I'm not quite sure if we should trust Fury as much anymore. Non spoiler: Iron Man 3 > Winter Soldier > Avengers and TRUST NO ONE!
Actually, a bit.
Where is your soul? Again, I'm glad you enjoyed it. It's also very useful since a lot of shows did start these last two days.
The only time you should cry over an anime is if you watch Golden Time. Seriously though, you're welcome. I'm glad you appreciated it.
I just wanna save that quote. I wanna save it, shelter it, and train it.
You better write that essay the same way you're writing your sentences right now. I want to read it. To proofread.
Write it about how you slowly realized the truth that your teacher is full of shit?
Just sent in my piece.
I really like the odd hair colors. It definately does give help a character stand out, which is really good for the beginning of a show, where you're trying to learn which character is which. Plus, I think it opens up the creators to being creative. I will say that the changes in what I see in the source material to the manga does bug me at times. A prime example for me is with Fruits Basket, where I read the entire series believing that Torou was a blonde since her hair had no shading, only to see in the anime that she had brown hair. Granted, she's on the cover of the first volume, where it clearly shows she has brown hair, so maybe I'm just not careful with stuff like that. But, that shade of brown could've had some shading in black and white, y'know?
I wouldn't say they're necessarily bad. If it's not broke, don't fix it, right? It will get old and tiring to hear the same thing over and over again though, and people will probably get turned off by it.
I came in here expecting a discussion of The Winter Soldier. :/
I decided to come up with a concept for this certain soundtrack. The story behind it is a youthful, ambisious youth is setting off to fight a big bad. He is driven by the idea of fighting for his family as well as those he covets most. Along the way though, he faces trials that not only test his strength, but his spirit. He experiences death for the first time. His group is ambushed, fighting a losing battle. He is left for dead. Finally, he has a realization, hardens his heart, and sets off for revenge. He fights those who killed his friends, and in the end, he is victorious. At the end though, he has a final realization: killing them ultimately means nothing. He brought honor to his community, but it was at the cost of his soul. He feels he has nowhere else to go; he sees himself as an outcast, someone who must keep away from humanity. He creats his own path. It works well with the theme, how someone will always fight for what they feel is right, whatever that may be. Of course, that blind fury may just eat up who you are. It's very much a story of maturity, and not trusting everything on face value alone, a lesson I am very used to and fond of. (Also think Attack on Titan, Ender's Game, and Captain America: Winter Soldier) Here is a link to a playlist of the songs LInk Main Theme – Fire and Fury (Skillet) My Hometown – Twister – KINGDOM MIX – (Kingdom Hearts 3D OST) Goofing Off – It’s Time (Imagine Dragons) Trouble in Town – Ain’t No Rest for the Wicked (Cage the Elephant) Call to Action – Hero (Skillet) Battle (Worthy Opponent) – Circus For a Psycho (Skillet) Leaving Home – Do You Hear The People Sing (Les Miserables) Wondrous Sights – Everything is Awesome (Tegan and Sara ft. That actually seems like the best idea. The living room is basically it's own theater, and there's a store not a far walk from my house. The only thing that was good about the money was that we're at the busy time in the semester where there is no time for much relaxing (unless you're me and minimally care for certain courses) so it won't be a right away kind of thing. Like, maybe in two weeks. Still, that's also time for more planning.
Yeah, I figured Frozen would not be the best idea. I know she likes a lot of tv, but shows that I haven't not seen. I would really like to take her out to a movie, but I can barely pay for myself a lot of the time. Granted, I'm serious about this, so it won't kill me to save up cash for a date night. She also likes very dark comedy. Like, stuff that would offend anyone who would overhear us. Trust me, it is surprising. I'm a nerd, I'm loud at times, and past relationships have really shown me my own faults. I'm not going into this all "woe is me" though. I want a relationship, I'm just not used to trying to date someone, so I have no idea what to do.
I figured maybe we could watch Frozen? She practically squeed in the middle of class when I told her that I had it a while back. Or some other movie. I dunno.
I asked out a girl I liked. I didn't expect her to say yes. She said yes. I don't know what to do for a date now. Help. Seriously. Help.
Everything is either moe or super ****ing kawaii-desu! How do you stay conscious with all the constant nose bleeds?!
It's Attack on Titan all over again!
I honestly don't care if someone chooses to watch the movie instead of reading the book. I don't expect everyone who loves Les Miserables (movie and musical) to have read the full Victor Hugo novel (kudos to you if you have though). What really bugs me is people going "that's not how it was in the book" or "i can't believe they left that out". Storytelling in movies and books are two very different things. Things will get cut. The movie doesn't always need all that detail. When a movie tries to stick too close to the book, it's often bad because instead of telling the story their own way, it's a connect-the-dots kind of movie, which feels very uninspired.
