The idea behind this is that a member would post something they think is worthy, and then if other members like it, they click to rate it. It wouldn't be like the thread ratings though; where it's 'Excellent, Good, Average etc.' The post ratings will have a straightforward thumbs up or down. If a post has no ratings, a single "thumbs down" will give the post a -1 rating. If the post reaches -10 (or whatever rating the admins choose), it is then "marked" for staffies to review and decide whether to hand out a punishment. So it's kinda like a user moderation tool, to help staff get their jobs done quicker, and get a little break from patrolling the forum waiting for someone to post flamebait.
