The side effect is that if you happen to turn into a horse, yuor body will change, but your mind will slowly become that of a horse's. If this happens, you'll be aware that you're a horse, but you'll eventually think that you've been a horse all your life.
It doesn't really have to be a horse. You could spontaneously turn into a pair of panties....
There is a small but finite chance that you will spontaneously become a horse...
