Veera didn't say another word as they reached the tower. Requiem settled while Anthem went inside, and Veera hesitated. Alpha was still upset at letting the girl go, and surrendering. Don't stay with these weaklings. We're better off finding a stronger pack, a better pack. Veera grimaced, pressing a hand to her head before shaking it, trying to get rid of the shadows and voices in her mind.

"Uh....thanks for watching my back." She muttered to
Requiem before following Anthem in. Her human half had responsibilities, and that meant she needed to report on the threat that was even now on its way to join the opposition.

Kala turned her face against the hard metal of Timothy's chest and closed her eyes, listening to the whirring and clicking that was occurring inside, giving her robot friend life. "Nice to meet you." She muttered into the robot, though her sentence was directed at the Andalan. What she really wanted was to simply sleep.

Treasa sighed. "I don't think, Uncle, if he had been the one to do it, he would have told us about it." she replied, keeping a way eye behind them. "Not only that, but he wouldn't have wanted to take the risk that you would have deduced it was him by telling you what had happened." How did she know this? Well, if the Kindred Spirit was following him, then he couldn't have been that stupid. They meant something to each other, and Treasa sighed, ignoring the pain in her chest by simply brushing it aside.

"I know we've seen bad before,
Uncle, but this seems worse. We've never avenged a witcher before." Her voice got quieter, and she looked at her uncle's back before returning her gaze towards their surroundings. What would she do if she lost him? She couldn't imagine; he was all she had left. Oh, she would survive, and be able to make her way through the world, but would she want to? Why survive, if she had to do it alone?

Tessa gently took his hand again, her fingers skimming over the surface of his palm as she dumped the bottle of water into the basin, dropped the cloth in, and let it soak. "I don't like Sigmund." She muttered, keeping her face lowered, bent over Seth's palm. "He's going to make you take care of her." Why did she feel so much aversion towards this girl? She hadn't done anything to Tessa, hell, they had never even met. You're jealous. Jealous that he has to take care of her. She grimaced, grabbing the cloth from the basin and wringing it out before applying it to Seth's palm, gently cleaning the wound best as she could.

Because he doesn't have to take care of you. The thought caused a lump in her throat, and she swallowed, determined not to cry, not again. And maybe he'll come to like her. She's probably pretty. He's been with her twice, but you?

The cloth came away discolored, and she wrinkled her brow; infection. She let it sit back in the water, and let her fingers rest gently below the wound, biting her lip. Maybe once he would have been with you, but you're too inexperienced, too young, too naive. How could he want to stay when you're only a burden?

Taking a deep breath, she blinked back the tears and smiled a little up at
Seth, giving no indication of her inner thoughts. "We should go find someone on our own." She murmured. "Hopefully there's an apothecary close by.

I wonder whether there are any cute guys in here. Veera tried to stay on topic in her mind, focusing on one subject entirely until it was completed exhausted. I mean, I don't know how I got in here, Xara doesn't seem to know, and now we have Aislinn. Pretty name by the way. So how did we get in here? And how big is here? How did we even manage to find each other?

She cut through the Dark Ball with almost no effort effort at all before turning back around to face the seemingly endless horde of the dead.

I always assumed it was like Harry Potter, the characters quite literally grew up with us and we watched them go through some of the same struggles every kid does; heartbreak and finding out who you are and your strengths and weaknesses and losing family and friends. I really dislike how the series ended, but there's an irreplaceable feeling of nostalgia tied to that show.

Morrigan hissed as the ground swayed underneath her feet, and her pulse throbbed through her body, veins darkening for a second before disappearing once more. She hated whatever magic drove her to tell the truth once the question was asked. Many of her kind mastered the half truths, masking what they could in front of their enemies. It had not been one of her talents, and now she found herself wishing for more time to study it, master it.

"Yes, I will fight." Her words came out slowly, as if each cost her dearly, which, it did. "If only to one day make you feel how I do now. To be the slave to something beyond your control."

She leaned against an oak tree, her nails digging into the bark as she struggled to keep herself upright. "It's a shame the Queen didn't ever invite you to court. You would have fit right in." Right in with the vipers that were her parents, selling her to the highest bidder. Manipulating her into what they wanted. She nearly choked on the hatred that rose up inside of her, putting a hand to the throbbing bruise that covered her throat. "I'd say I hope it hurts you to stare at it,
Ash, but you'd have to have a heart." she motioned towards the bruise before pressing her lips together, done talking. She needed to give her vocal cords, her larynx time to heal. Using it would only prolong the pain, which was beginning to throb in the tips of her fingers, causing her to feel as though she was pressing them into a flame. She merely flexed the digits, keeping her back against the tree to support her wobbly legs.

Veera landed softly, stowing her blades as she stepped forward, allowing room for her team to land. She ran a hand through her hair, wincing as her fingers hit a few tangles before turning back to view the crew. Zack and Tessa landed, followed by Gale. Their watch had been a quiet one, thank the gods. She waited until the rest of them had landed before she spoke. "Well done. Get some food, and get some rest. Tessa?" The girl looked up, quiet eyes inquisitive. "Afternoon shift is short, so you and I are helping to even them out. Five hours, here." She saw disappointment and exhaustion war with each other before the girl's head dropped and she nodded.

Veera nodded and turned, moving towards her own house. Shutting the door behind her, she flopped onto the bed and stared at the ceiling, taking a deep sigh. The last two years had gone by so quickly. In that time,
Flame had stepped up as Queen and married Drake, making him her partner. No one had really been surprised until the Queen had asked Veera to become Drake's replacement. Veera hadn't refused, and here she was.

Her eyes flicked to the picture that she had rescued from the hollowed out home, her old home. Her parents stood with a forever young version of herself, smiling. She gently rested her fingertips on their faces for a moment, whispering, "I love you." before rolling over and falling into an immediate sleep.

Zack frowned as Tessa was singled out to help Veera with the afternoon scout, but he said nothing. Tessa wouldn't appreciate someone else standing up for her, and Veera wouldn't appreciate the insubordination. Instead, he waited until their leader was out of sight before turning to his friend. "Wanna join me in the kitchen? I'm sure Adelina will make you something." He tried to weedle her into following him, but she shook her head. "I'm better off getting some sleep." She murmured with a small smile. "I'll catch you later, Zack." With a wave of her hand she strode off, making it to her house one weary footstep at a time.

Zack frowned after her, but went his own way towards the kitchens. He took the back door, and watched with a smile as
Adelina bossed poor Chrono around in the kitchen. Stepping up behind her, he pressed his lips to the soft spot just under her ear. "I think he's doing a good job by himself." He murmured, taking Zelina from her arms and kissing the small girl on the forehead. She was his favorite, though he would never say as much out loud, nor would he admit she already had him wrapped around her finger. Smiling at Zarron, he turned his gaze to Adelina. "Have you had breakfast yet?" He murmured, reaching out a free hand to brush the hair away from her cheek.

She would have to remind herself to get to bed early tomorrow, and catch up on what she missed. With a sigh and a yawn, Tessa opened her door, letting it shut gently before opening the small, circular window. The sounds of birds singing brought a tiny smile to her face, and she stretched before shrugging out of her clothes, and shutting her eyes. Her form changed slowly, but when it finished, she stretched languidly, her white fur rustling with the movement before she jumped up onto her bed, circled a few times, and settled down.

Curling her tail around her nose, she shut her eyes, and fell into sleep. The last two years hadn't changed much for Tessa. She watched her friend fall in love and start a family, all with a smile on her face and a silent ache in her hear. She could never be jealous of Zack, never hate him for what he had. She just wanted it for herself, and losing her best friend, even to his own desires, still hurt. Despite it all, she kept a smile on her face and tried to be cheerful, looking at the best in life. If she didn't, she wasn't sure anyone else would.

Kala pushed herself up from the bed, rubbing her eyes before wrapping her hands around the steaming mug. "Thanks." she murmured drowsily, running her hands through her tangled hair. She sipped at the warm liquid, sighing as it wormed its way down to her belly, lighting a fire, however small. She smiled up at Galadorn in thanks before slowly drinking some more and setting the cup aside. I still can't believe you stayed. Two years later, she half expected every morning to wake up, and the centaur would be gone, no sign besides his bed that he had ever existed.

Yet he had stayed, waking up every morning earlier then she. It wasn't hard to do that, these days. Pushing herself up, she slowly made her way towards the bathroom, shutting the door behind her, and staring at the mirror. Shadows lingered underneath her eyes, looking like small bruises. She opened the small container of skin colored makeup, hidden behind the mirror, and applied it gently, hiding the marks before grabbing her clothes from the rack.

Dressing quickly, she walked back out tossing the other laundry in her "Needs to be Washed" pile, before grabbing the tea and taking a larger gulp now that it had cooled.

"How come you make it so much better then I do?" she mused, staring at the tea bag while the cup warmed her hands. Over the course of the time that had passed, sleep had not been kind to Kala. Nightmares of what she had done, nightmares of those she was sure was hunting her haunted her every night. It didn't help that she hadn't fed in weeks, but she had gone longer. "You should teach me your secrets." She finished her earlier thought with a smile at
    Galadorn.

Brianne ran a hand over her face before taking a deep breath. "This needs to be spoken about privately." It was not an admonishment to Hendrick or Roxanne, but more of a reminder to herself as she heard voices echoing from the doorway. "I'll meet you in the emergency bunk room." She put her hand on Roxanne's shoulder, to draw strength or give it, she couldn't be sure, but she managed a small smile as she looked at the other girl before turning to Hendrick. "I'm sorry you can't rest, but I need to know you're safe, and you're safe with the group. I'll see you both in there after I retrieve my brother." The last words were said in a tense hiss as she descended the stairs.

"Why in the name of the Angel does it have to pour when it rains?" She muttered, coming up behind
Nick and Alarick. "Both of you. Bunk room." She said through gritted teeth, her nerves ready to snap.

At least he's got a spine. Alarick thought to himself as Nick tried to close the door on the fairy. He could sense his sister coming up behind them as well, and in that moment, his mind worked quickly. By the time Brianne came up, demanding their presence, he was able to turn out, simultaneously putting his foot in the door to keep it from closing. "I didn't realize I was such a necessary element to your life, sister." He commented, turning his head slightly to look at her. "However, this gentleman from the Seelie Court is demanding our attention. It would be unwise to deny such an important visitor, especially when we need all the allies we can get."

He had a feeling that the reason his sister was wound tighter then the bowstring had to do with the Old Man's orders. She would do better without him there, without having to prove her strength and authority to him while simultaneously trying to keep her wits about her and give the orders to her subordinates. Just thinking about it made his own head hurt. We used to be close. He blinked away the regret, and opened the door slightly wider, to allow the
fairy entrance. "Nicholas here can go with you. I will take our new friend here into the meeting room over there. It's still open, yes?" Without waiting for her response, he glanced at Nick. "You can bring me up to speed afterwards." He turned to Cin. "I am Alarick Lightwood. If you would please go in," he pointed at a room just to the left. "I will be with you shortly."

She couldn't breathe. The walls of her mind closed in around her as her panic only worsened. The dark pressed in on her, relentless. There was no moon to light her way, and if she hadn't already been short of breath, the fear would have choked her. I've always been claustrophobic. Why? Her screaming of cages had woken her parents on more then one occasion, until they simply started drugging her to keep her sleeping. But this was not sleep. This was-

Her eyes flew open, staring up at the hazy sky. She had been right not to trust this
warlock. You stupid stupid girl. Her mind taunted as her hands scrabbled uselessly at his, trying to free herself. You wanted to die. Looks like life has a funny way of giving us what we want. Then why did she fight it? For a moment, her hands slackened. But then he wins. They win. You pretty puppet. Now that your strings have been cut, you're so useless. You let them win.

No. No. This was not her purpose. I'm not a puppet. I'm a goddamned fairy. I'm no one's toy. She drew her hand back, and smashed it into
Ash's elbow, forcing him to drop her. Falling to her knees, the air poured into her lungs as she gasped and choked. Stumbling, nearly crawling, she started to run towards the woods, further in, only to be halted as the shadow slid up in front of her, like so much oil that moved on the ground. Gasping, she narrowed her eyes, then turned, the wind tugging her hair past her face. I need a sword.

But it had been left, wherever her body had been. She then smiled grimly, staring at
Ash. So this is what it comes to. "Fás." The word was barely able to leave her swollen and bruised through, but when it did, nothing appeared to happen at first. But Morrigan knew differently. The growth was slow at first, but it quickly accelerated as she poured more and more of herself into the plants around her, forcing them to grow beyond what they could have afforded themselves. They wrapped themselves around Ash, rooting him to the spot and holding him there before she grabbed a nearby stick. "Solas oíche." The stick began to glow with a radiance only allowed for the moon. Her legs trembled at the excessive use of magic, but she whirled around, her arm thrusting out to stab the shadow, and clear her path to freedom.

    I won't let them win.

Kara tried to stifle her laughter, but before long the sound of it echoed through the caves. "Are you sure you're not a noble? You're not some bastard from the west, out here for a roll in the countryside?" She teased, grabbing Ren's hands and pushing them out of the way as she crawled over his legs to get to the other side of his body, where the wound lay. "I bet you're used to your fancy ladies in fancy silk dresses, running away from mice."

She tore off part of the bottom of her shirt, pressing it against the wound as she spoke, hoping her words distracted him from her actions. "Oh,
Lord Rention!" She pressed her unused hand against her forehead, as if falling into a faint. "Spiders, big as my pinky finger! Save me!" Her voice trilled on the last part as she broke down into laughter again. If it wouldn't have removed the pressure from the wound, she would have pretended to fall back into a dead faint. Priorities. She told herself, shifting from her cross legged position to resting on her knees in order to be able to peer at the injury. When she saw the full extent of the damage, she whistled, pushing down her worry.

"That armour doesn't seem to have done much good on you." She commented, peering into
Ren's eyes. "Can you see me okay?" If it really was bad, and he went into shock, she would not be equipped to handle it.

Tessa stilled as Rayyad jumped before going forward and taking his hand, squeezing his fingers gently for encouragement. "We're here with you." She murmured with a smile before letting go and heading cautiously towards the glowing red gem. "That's too easy, right?" She muttered to herself, keeping an eye out for any sort of movement that might give away an enemy.

"He'll turn on her one day." Veera muttered wearily, forcing herself to stand. The knee twinged painfully when she tested her weight on it, but she didn't collapse back to the ground. Nodding her thanks to Veceslav for the potions, she tucked them into her pouch before setting off after Derrick, limping as quickly as her body could manage and leaving Veceslav to cover the rear. He apparently didn't need any help slaughtering peasants, and Veera crossed her arms to watch, one eyebrow raised. So he can do it and no one says a word, but when I do it it's the end of the world? She blinked, then squeezed her eyes shut as the searing pain ran through her head.

A minute later, it was gone, and she rubbed her eyes before opening them to see
Derrick patting his horse. What the hell is wrong with me? She wondered nervously, leaning against the nearest wall for support. Wearily, she followed Derrick up the stairs, taking them very slowly with a mutter of, "Last one up is guarding the horse." Speaking of, where was hers?

She swallowed hard as she realized the steed must have been left with Aaron's, wherever it was. Well, if she had to walk back to the Kaer, then she had to fucking walk. She arrived at the top of the stairs, and froze. "
Derrick...how important was that woman to your vampire friend?" She asked, her voice calm even as the smell of blood wafted towards her nose.

Treasa's lips twitched in response to Alanna's smile. A kindred spirit, at long last. Good to know I'm not the only one left with a freakin' sense of humor. Her spine stiffened at the mention of other witchers, more specifically dead witchers. It was going to be bad if a witcher had died. They didn't make it through the Trials just to get taken out by a stray crossbow arrow. There was a reason Alastar hadn't allowed her to try and complete them. Gods above, what have we stumbled into?

    She growled and smacked her
uncle on the shoulder, tired of his attempts to bully the other man. "Let them go." She hissed, keeping the arrow knocked and the bow pointed towards the ground, ready to be drawn as they started towards the city. "They've clearly been through hell. And since when do you bury the corpses? Because if I'm taken off of corpse removal duty I wasn't notified and that's just rude." Her humor rarely failed, but her eyes were already turning towards their next objective.

"Besides, I have a feeling there's more then enough work for the both of us." She told
Alastar, her mouth set in a grim line. Gods go with you, Witcher-Imposter and Kindred Spirit. I hope you find a place with no corpses to bury.

Tessa froze for a moment, put off kilter by his words. Those words, often said by drunken or desperate men and women, had never been spoken with the same reverence that man in front of her used now. But then her thoughts drifted to the huge scar that would heal, and cover her back, and she turned around, leading Seth to the bedroom he had previously placed her in.

I used to be.Now I'm just scarred. Her heart was heavy, but she pushed it down as she grabbed a bowl primarily used for washing hands and the drying cloth before placing them on the floor. It took some effort to maneuver herself to a sitting position, but she managed before beckoning
Seth to sit in front of her.

"We'll have to visit an herbalist or an apothecary, but for now I can at least clean it." She murmured, pressing the cloth into the water to drench it before pointing at the dresser. "Check if that's wine?" She asked softly. "Or some sort of alcohol. And don't drink it."

Ana flicked her gaze towards Carson, evaluating him before giving a quick nod as she turned towards the hands. She barely had time to throw up a shield made of fire before the hands spun at her. The shield held...barely. Gritting, her teeth, she dug deeper and poured more energy into the barrier before pulling it into a ball of fire and bracing her palms over it. With a determined grin, she forced it to act like a gun, shooting out small spits of fire towards the hands. She had been in tougher situations then this, she could pull through.

It was often said that something needed to be given in order to take something back, and she was determined to take her sister back. "Come on then, kid. I can show you the world." She held out her hand to Lumen, waiting for him to take it. Just maybe not this one.

Ana bit her lip, watching as Zephyr tried to make the portal. She could tell the kid tried, he really did, but he just didn't have the experience. She shut her eyes, knowing what had to be done, and wishing upon the gods it didn't have to be her. But of course, it did. If you wanted me dead just have an assassin shove a knife through my skull. This torment is getting old. "I hope your arms are stronger then they look." She pushed herself off the floor, legs trembling like a newborn calf's as she held her hand out to the air, sweat trickling down her neck with the effort.

It took longer then she would have liked, but the magic didn't drain her body of energy right away. What normally would have taken as much effort as walking now felt as though she had lifted twice her body weight through a river. Or how she imagined such a thing would feel. She grabbed
Zephyr's hand and shoved him through the portal unceremoniously before stumbling through, leaving only a few bloodstains, the smell of dimiterium dust, and the room in disarray.

Her knees landed on the softness of grass, and she curled her hands around the blades as her vision flickered in and out, the magic draining from her body. "
Vyle," she breathed out as she slumped to the ground, her eyes shutting of their own accord. Where are you?

Treasa rolled her eyes and sneered at her uncle. "Maybe think with the head on top of your shoulders, Uncle?" She stepped forward, towards the female. "Today has not been the best of days for my mother's brother, he's a little old and crotchety." She ignored the man behind her and focused on the two in front. "If you're here to tell us the city is burning; we can tell." She pointed towards the church, which was at this point mostly a plume of smoke.

It hadn't failed to escape her notice that the
man set her uncle off, even more then the female. She wouldn't stop the old man from her battles; she had learned early on how bad of an idea that was, but she would back him up if necessary. Or maybe not. She drew the line at genitalia comparison.
"I'd advise you to speak quickly and quietly, and move on." she sighed as she strung her bow and knocked an arrow. "After all, my
uncle is prone to fits of rage when he's forced to stand in one place so very long. Especially when we have somewhere to be." She leaned towards Alanna conspiratorially. "He's got a bit of anxiety about being late, you see. Got left at the altar at his own wedding because he lost track of time at the tavern." She shook her head, her lips twitching in the barest of grins.

    With her
uncle's witcher hearing, he wouldn't have missed a thing.

She knew he was there. She had heard him walking towards her long before he set his burden to the side. She could feel his breath on her hair, stirring the small strands on the top of her head. And yet he said nothing. He waited. She pulled her head of her hands, staring at them as they trembled like leaves in the breeze.

    "
He's going to come back for me." She whispered, her voice shaking every bit as much as her leaves. "He's going to find me and make it worse. He's going to-" She shut her eyes as she swallowed the rising panic. Once more the memory of the needle stabbing into her spun before her eyes, and Morrigan pressed her hand to the spot, gritting her teeth. Not once in three hundred years had she felt this afraid. And all because of a simple mistake, and slow reflexes.

"Some fucking fairy I am." She muttered, resisting the urge to look up at
Ash's reaction. She felt shame, for being so vulnerable in front of a stranger, embarrassment and guilt that she fell apart so very quickly. Fairies were strong and unbreakable.

"We bend like a properly made bow." Her father stood over her with the aforementioned weapon. With a single fluid movement he drew the string back, the bow nearly bending in half, but never breaking. Never breaking.

"Don't let them see me." Her voice was muffled as she hid underneath the curtain of hair. "Just..leave me here. Come get me when you're done. I don't want them to see me." All she wanted was to stay hidden, and try to forget she was only a shadow of the girl she had been.

Grayson tore into the drumstick, ignoring the liquid that dripped down his chin as he devoured the meat. "Never tasted better in my life, eh boys?" He asked his fellow packmates, grinning as a growl rose up. "And girls. Never could forget you, my lovelies." He blew kisses in their direction before returning his attention to the food. "It's a good time to be back in New York." he commented as he cracked the bone between his teeth, sucking up the marrow before tossing to the floor with a clatter.

"A good hunt, my friends." He stood, and when he did the rest of the pack stopped eating to pay attention. "Did I not tell you that following me would bring you to the fabled land of milk and honey?" Tossing his arms out to the side, he grinned. "There shall be many more hunts like this! There shall be endless meat! Boundless entertainment! With the Nephilim too busy chasing their tails, and the other packs too busy fighting for Cup, we shall have the run of this city!"

Howls chorused to his response as his pack slowly rose to their feet, dropping handfuls of flesh from their dripping hands. The smell of blood filled his noise, and Grayson inhaled, his lids fluttering with ecstasy. "This day, we rest here, brothers and sisters. But tonight! Tonight we hunt once more! Tonight we will drink our fill of blood, and have our bellies full!" More howls responded to this, their voices full of triumph and the song of the hunt.

Oh how he wished they didn't have to wait, but they must. Slowly, they would hunt more then just simple prey. They would move up the food chain. After mastering the art of killing another wolf, then they would feast on the flesh of the undead, and see if it was as bitter as told. After that, the fey, with their grace and inhuman looks. And finally, the last hurdle. "One day soon, we will feast on earthly angels." Grayson murmured, for his ears only. "One day soon, we will hunt the Shadowhunters, and become kings of this city."

He glanced carelessly at the torn face of the human boy who had foolishly tried to outrun him. "Who wants the heart?" He asked, reaching into the chest cavity. A chorus of yells answered him.

Veera wanted to scream and rant and cry as Willow tore off, escaping her grasp. She was about to make chase, when her leg buckled. She looked down, eyes widening slightly at the sight of a spear shove through her knee, with no sign of its owner. "Well that complicates things." She muttered as she went down to one knee, gritting her teeth before breaking the shaft of the spear off. A muffled scream managed to worm its way up her throat but never made it past her lips as she slumped to the ground, leaning on one hip before yanking the spear through, pressing one palm on one side of the wound before grabbing the singular bottle of Swallow. Popping the cap, she downed it, groaning at the taste before hunching over her wounded knee.

"We should get out of there before the vampire figures out you left his late night snack alone." She muttered in
Derrick's direction. Her body screamed that it was done, all done with any type of fighting, or battle. Her mind was grey with pain and exhaustion. Reluctantly, regretfully, she let Willow go. The real perpetrator was going to be ended, and she raised her head to watch.

Bryce felt the air rushing past him. He threw his arms out to the side as he dropped, the wind tugging and tossing him this way and that. "Witness me." He whispered, unable to hear the sound of his own voice over the rush as he fell from the heavens. Every god must have their fall.
He didn't die immediately when the steeple pierced his body, shattering every rib in his chest and his sternum as he slid, further and further down along the stone spire; the force of gravity pushed his body past the breaking point as he felt muscle tearing and bones cracking as his mind went into shock. He wasn't dead even as he came to a slow, squelching stop; his mouth hanging open, his limbs loose and useless. His mind was shutting down, flashing in colors of white and black as it tried to comprehend what had happened.

He looked down at the giant spear that was now his stomach, and tried to laugh, the blood forcing a gurgle to release itself from his throat instead. As he choked on the blood from his punctured lungs, legs twitching with the severance of his spinal cord, he looked up at the sky. It wasn't Tessa's face he saw, or Seth's, or even his own mother's. Kind eyes looked down at him, with a gentle, sorrowful smile. "I did it." He tried to say. "I did it." The face nodded, and Bryce's smile faded the flames slowly ensconced his body. His gurgling screams were the last things his ears heard as his world went dark.

    Witness me.

Zack bowed his head over Fiel as her breaths turned into shuddering gasps. Something whispered along the back of his neck, and shuddering himself he turned. Just above the city, he was able to see a speck in the sky. Something dropped from the speck, and Zack's stomach dropped with it as the form plummeted to the church, impaling itself on the steeple. Afterwards, the world seemed to fall into silence as Fiel's grip on his hand tightened, then slacked. Rael howeled his grief as he buried his face in his comrade's chest. Zack felt a tear slip down his cheek, and shut his eyes. Gods keep you both.

Tessa's heart nearly stilled with shock when Seth kissed her. She wasn't sure how to respond, how to act. Her face flushed when he pulled away, and she felt slightly dizzy, as if she wasn't breathing enough air. She started walking down the hallway with Seth in a daze, a smile growing on her face before it stilled and she turned around, halting their progress to the room. "Hand. I won't be distracted. Let's go." Her voice expressed her exhaustion, but her eyes still held a spark; her cheeks were flushed. But she would debate her first kiss later. Right now she wanted to make sure the kisser didn't die from septic shock.

Alarick was cruising the adrenaline wave, head lost in cloud nine as he worried over the Sword, the Cup, his sister, his parents, the voice that randomly started speaking overhead.....He wasn't paying attention, otherwise he never would have reacted with the force that he did. He felt a hand on his sleeve, and his mind shut off, his body using instinct for its command center.

    Turning, he grabbed
Nick's outstretched wrist with one arm and yanked it back, shoving him towards the nearest wall, holding the wrist captive above his head as he used the other arm to press against Nick's throat, their faces only inches apart. Only when he met the fellow Nephilim's eyes did he realize what had happened. He dropped the Shadowhunter as though the contact burned him and breathed out, passing a hand over his eyes. "My apologies."

Just as he was about to ask
Nick what the hell he was doing, if he too heard the strange voice, and if he had a clue who the hell this was, a knock sounded on the door. Who the hell even knocked anymore? Alarick gritted his teeth, took another breath to calm himself down, and opened the door to the Institute. "Yes?" He asked coldly of the man standing outside, hand itching to draw his stele.

Brianne was taking a deep breath herself, her heart beating a tempo in her chest. "I don't understand." She said finally, working very hard to keep the fear off her face. The Old Man sighed, readjusting his grip on his cane. "I wish I had time to explain. However, the hour is late, and we have no time. Your brother will be staying with you until the Mortal Cup has been retrieved..." His voice was drowned out by the sound of another.

Brianne turned away from the mirror, her eyes widening. "Bri-" The Old Man's form wavered, and then disappeared. She hesitated, caught between summoning him back to finish, or going to make sure everyone was okay and had indeed heard that voice. The latter won, and she bolted out of the library, walking quickly towards the infirmary. Could this get any worse?

In any case, she had their orders. And she wasn't happy about them.

There it was again. That coldness. It threw up warning signals in Morrigan's mind, signs that caused the hair to rise on the back of her neck. She was about to open her mouth, to say something to Ash. What, she didn't know, but something, anything, was better then letting this go. She had to know who she was dealing with, what she was dealing with. A voice from the heavens interrupted her, and she froze, cold sweats breaking out over her skin as she wrapped her arms around her sides, covering the place where she was stabbed with Masque's needle. Even if she couldn't remember, her body did.

It was an eternity before they reached the forest. Upon seeing it, Morrigan bit her lip, forcing her feet to touch the grass. What normally gave her relief filled her with a thrumming tension. She allowed it for a moment, two, and then her fight or flight response kicked in. Her legs trembled with the need to run, and her self control deserted her. So she ran.

Her hair streamed behind her, and her long legs bounded across the field of green like a deer. However, what had once been as easy as breathing air now caused her to collapse underneath a maple tree, shuddering and coughing as her vision swayed and air fought through her trachea into her lungs. She wanted to keep going, to get away from the monster that she knew was chasing her, ready to finish what it had started.

Black spots appeared in front of her eyes, and she pressed her hands to her ears, shielding her face in the safety of her knees as her toes curled. If she had been looking down on herself Morrigan, would have thought the fey girl in front of her was trying to make herself small enough to go unnoticed.
