You explained why you're willing to accept a lower quality of product and you explained why you like it. I was never in opposition to you thinking any of those things because they're just opinions. But the fact remains, those things will never make it good. Good, as I use it, is just the quality. Quality is how well it's made, no caveats, no qualifications, no explanations. Something like, "Good, considering they had a low budget," doesn't mean good, it means that it was better than people would have to expect based on other factors. Certain things have enormous advantages when it comes to their chances at being good because they have more time or money, but I don't care, it doesn't stop them from being good or bad at the time they roll out and the same is true for things that don't have the advantages. None of this means that you can't like it. None of this means that you can't love and adore it. Liking something isn't even necessarily correlated with how good it is. That's what taste is. So you can cut them slack if you want, but you should acknowledge that it's not something that is incumbent on anyone, so other people won't do the same.

On that front, you're defining good from a relative standpoint and I'm not. Unless you decide to move off of the relative scale, you can't even argue with me on the same terms. So, you're not right when you say it's good. You're right when you say that it's good for a cheap show with a short production cycle. Those two things don't even intersect though.

Other things to consider, if you check the staff roll at the end of each episode they have around 40 people on each one, not 10, and more than 10 of them are animators. You're also constant comparing them to Pixar, which is silly, because they use low poly MMD models not the massive 50k+ poly rigs you see on the big screen. Low poly is no excuse to look bad and it's not the reason at all why people rip on the animation.

The writing is something that I have to say desperately needs improvement. The dialogue is the crowning success of it. It sounds campy and cheesy, but human enough to not kill the mood. The VAs are at least on par with most of the anime dubbing industry of today(very low bar, I know) so I'm actually not going to complain at all there. That's good enough. But the plot is generic shovelware JRPG. The character development is on par with a children's sitcom and the world building is clumsy and slow. I'm going to say the writing is the best part of the show right now, but it's not good either.

The character designs are good on paper, sans Miles and Monty. I honestly think that the cape was a terrible idea though. Low poly models cannot do flowy things well and they knew that and decided to go with it without mitigating it in any way. That's a little meta, though.

So, you're doing a lot better than most people who try to defend their given series and I really appreciate that you've stayed civil with me in spite of my manner. I'd like to see you be a little more objective with your use of the word good and I'd like you to be more willing to criicise things that you like, but still, it's been good.

I don't think I've ever seen you give it a chance. You don't actually back things up in a well constructed and clear way. I know that I'm often unclear and have to make various changes to my initial position to clarify my initial intent, but I do that because I want to communicate with all of you in a meaningful way. I don't want to just write you all off as idiots who won't take me seriously. I don't want to just assume that you're all so hard headed and stubborn that you won't even acknowledge my points and ideas. I don't want to just give up.

It's your right to give up just as uch as it is mine not to, so this isn't a critique. It is just an observation that perhaps you haven't given the good fight its due chance.

I don't attack opinions, I go after arguments to the greatest extent of my abilities. It's my fault if I seemed like I was trying to take yours from you. My meaning was actually to invalidate your argument in defense of them and question your position. The defense, the difficulty argument, is invalid and wrong. No nice way to say that. The question, which I think is what was the problem here, was out of mere curiosity. Because if your defense, the reason you have the opinion, is wrong, there is no reason for you to maintain the opinion. But you've given me enough to move on ahead. I don't think quality is an opinion that you can just have. You need to be able to back it up. You can like something and think it's enjoyable with no back up. But to say it's good, you need to be able to defend that otherwise it feels kind of like you're just saying something without sorting out your own thoughts and disrespecting the initial work by not thinking about it in a serious manner.

I'm actually going to have to say this is the wrong way to be thinking about a purportedly professional and finished product.

First, I don't care how hard it is. It's their job. When a nuclear reactor melts down, you don't say, "cut the designer some slack, it's real hard to make a working nuclear reactor." When your computer doesn't work, you don't say, "Gee, I feel like Micrapple has it so hard, programming these incredibly complex interfaces and functions that I couldn't dream to ever reproduce." No, what most people, justifiably, do is expect a good product and get indignant about it when people don't deliver. They want something that is up to par, because that's the implied agreement between producer and consumer. If I'm going to give my time/money to someone, they had better make it worth my while. So difficulty isn't something you can legitimately bring up as an excuse. It's a reason, an understandable one, but it doesn't help their case in any way, shape, or form. So you can't use that as an argument in their favor.

Second, they're actually animating it as such BECAUSE it is easier. Traditional, hand drawn animation is so time consuming, difficult and costly in comparison to 3D animation that even Disney, one of the companies that made hand drawn big, stopped doing it for five years to reassess the viability of the format at all and has in the following four years made no indication that it did well enough to warrant another attempt. So even if I were to admit your, "it's pretty hard", argument, it falls flat because it's actually much easier than the alternative. They're taking the easiest way out and still failing is the way to look at this.

So, it's their fault for planning this whole thing badly and allowing it to be what it is. We have no obligation to forgive them for their lack of foresight which led to this trainwreck of a series.

In conclusion, you don't have to defend them and have no good reason to, why are you bothering?

So you type it Iphone? That makes sense based on your rule, because that's a product name which is a proper noun and that's standard capitalization. Clearly, you see the point I'm making. Orthodoxy is nice for general things, but there are times when the capitalization is part of the name itself. So, since the man who created and uses the name says it's libregkd, that's the official and correct as **** way to spell it. So you're breaking grammatical rules when you capitalize it, just like you are when you change out of the camel case for iPhone.

I hope that dispels any problems you have with all lowercase names. If not, you'd better learn the English language better, because those are the

It's funny how people have this fascination with crossover fights. I really think it's a strange and out of place little quirk of humanity to want to see Wolfman vs Dracula. To want to see who's stronger. To want to argue it. Clearly, it doesn't matter in the grander scheme of things, but that's irrelevant because basically nothing is. So I guess what I'm getting at here is, why is there anyone who cares? What about power levels arguments and disputes that really works its way into people? So I thought about it for a while. I still don't have an answer, but I have some ideas.

So we've gotta decompose this problem into its constituent parts. Okay, so it's clearly related to fandom because only fans argue it and it's always fans of certain characters that get involved in arguments regarding them. There's also the very distinct, if considerably shrunken, divide between animu and comics fans. So that's part of it, but the rest is plain old competition it seems. People like being right. People like being on the side with the power, even if it is imaginary. Hell, possibly moreso since its imaginary because it doesn't make you seem like a coattail riding wimp in the same way following around the nearest muscle mass. So basically it appeals to us people because we're fans of the subject and we want to win the competition. We want our guy to be numero uno and all that nonsense. Okay, I guess that doesn't seem too weird.

But here's the rub,-- there always is one-- not only is this fiction that can never be played out in any meaningful way, it's also forcing characters out of their natural environment and into a blatantly artificial scenario that is basically just masturbation. I can't get with that aspect of it. It really comes down to the fact that it's crossover, I guess. It's two worlds that are as different as night and day being forced together. The physics are incompatible, the values are incompatible, the pacing is incompatible. The worst thing is that it's not really telling a story. It's just people doing what they want and sharing it. More power to them and all, but we really shouldn't be encouraging something like that.

Anyhow, I'm not a fan of this shit. I don't think it matters who would win. Characters are created to fill a role and they do that as they are supposed to. Taking them out of that context and dropping them into this one is like ripping pages out of separate books, shuffling them together and reading them in the order the fall. It doesn't work and destroys the whole point of the character. Oddly enough, the point of Goku isn't Kamehameha; the point of Superman isn't that he can lift a galaxy and a half; the point of any of these guys isn't what they can do, it's what they actually do end up doing. Having a ton of power doesn't make one character better than the other and vice versa. The two things aren't even vaguely related. I don't even think its because people are missing that that they do this stuff. It's more that they just don't care.

Summarily, I'm pretty fuckin' tired and I don't know how much of that made sense, but I'm gonna go with none of it when I look at this tomorrow.

Your theme is pretty busy and in your face. I'd recommend something a little quieter or at least more controlled. It's generally considered good web design practice to focus on ease of reading when picking backgrounds. That means generating a focal point on the part of the screen you want people to look at. The image you're using would be better suited as a desktop, or something.

I had a pretty tough time choosing. DS9(minus the religious episodes) is currently my favorite Trek. Then there was NexGen and Voyager which I watched as a kid and still like today. They even get extra point for not making me want to pretend parts of them don't exist. So I'll probably always be partial to Janeway, Sisko and Picard. So Janeway was first to go out. Didn't ever think she was incredibly special or interesting herself. The whole series was fun to watch and in my opinion pretty good despite the orthodoxy stating the opposite all the time. But ultimately it was a lot like older Trek, just recycled for a new crew. Then there was Picard. I usually do say he's my favorite. He's Patrick Stewart, he solves his problems with his brain and is the guy to look at for the perfect Star Fleet officer. But I decided to go with Sisko for once because he's not a captain most of the time and that made his run more interesting. He also wasn't as controlled as Picard, he visibly struggles with anger and dealing with people at times. I dunno, I'm just rambling. Long and short: Picard is cool and all, but sometimes you don't feel like voting for the golden boy.
