you can't really trust wikipedia since it's actually written by people like you and me for good info just google DMC4 interviews ( the only thing thats holding the game back from being released right now is the porting to other systems DAMMIT! )
it does? i read in a interview along time ago and it said it's a sequal to DMC3 ( which was a prequel to DMC1 )
vergils is not dead, he hasn't lost his soul or anything like that ( up till this point in the storyline ) DMC4 takes place before DMC1 so vergil is only brainwashed ( pretty much he lost his memory ) so that rumor is fake
