When did I begin writing? A long time ago, actually! The earliest I can remember is third grade where I made some sort of ridiculous non-sequitur story featuring all of my friends in the class (who eventually contributed and it became a large project) and all of our inside jokes from television and video games. It was fairly corny and quite immature, but it was the first step! Ever since then I have been in a perpetual state of "writing something somewhat", as there is always some sort of story at the back of my mind that I, at times, focus on writing when I have time. What motivates me to write? Principally my desire to get my ideas across, and also write creative stories. I love human creativity, and I exhibit this by trying to make my stories as interesting and eclectic as possible. I also usually motivate myself through setting checkpoints to reach my end goal and music that is fitting with the scene in question, as stated earlier by a number of people. Music appears to be a fairly popular thing, it appears. For myself, fitting music assists in helping me develop and picture the scene more clearly. Is it the same with all of you, or do you use music slightly differently?
Bluh, where do I begin! I have quite a few favourites to be honest. Victor Hugo, Jules Verne, Jane Austen, Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Thomas Hardy, F. Scott Fitzgerald, J. K. Rowling, and Joseph Heller.
I am immensely excited for the upcoming finale. I gawked at the revelation of Iroh, oh lord. What are your predictions - do you believe the United Forces will drive out the Equalists and the second season will take place in the city again, the Equalists will beat the United Forces and Team Avatar will flee, or the Equalists will still beat the United Forces but Team Avatar will stay in an Equalist-controlled Republic City? Personally I see the story inclining slightly towards the Equalists winning and the second season involving the recapturing or liberation of Republic City. What I would like to see, however, is how much the rest of the world outside of Republic City has changed - especially what the United Republic is quite like. Do any of you have any ideas as to what the title of Book 2 may be? We have "Air" for Book 1, but beyond that we are out of bending disciplines, no?
I was scouring through K-pop when I went to the other, more peaceful side of the field, and discovered Bluedawn (푸른 새벽) A lovely duo (but they have now broken up), their songs are fairly melancholic yet gentle and sweet at the same time. One of my favourites is Ding:
I believe Warren Spector expressed similar concerns earlier. However, they were more general, and regarded the over-abundance of violence that recent video games have been perpetuating. The claims are not simple violence either - rather, the shocking, gory, extremely bloody sort of gory - something that I believe stemmed from the immense number of fairly bloody games that appeared at E3 this year. Not only that, but they appeared to be fairly popular video games as well. Perhaps the opinions of these developers may lead to gaming taking a less violent approach in the future. Not to say it would be completely "family friendly", of course. And indeed, as everyone knows, games do not have to contain giant machine guns slaughtering thousands of people in a violent and bloody manner to be classified as good - or even "mature" really. Not in the sense of the rating (because that will probably stay Mature), but in the attitude taken towards these games.
Academics and athletics! I apologize for sounding like a horrid geek. I shall primarily use my time here to train myself so to speak. Taking up an autodidactic approach to a number of subjects (which I usually read for leisure regardless), I am planning to read through quite a bit of linguistics, science, and mathematics to upgrade my understanding of these fields. Besides that I will of course touch upon a few other things here and there for pure fun and the like. Linguistics especially is going to be an extremely fun adventure. As for athletics, which I feel I should work on in the summer so I may have an excellent balance of school and sports in the school year, I am primarily planning to focus on my running and building up my cardiovascular endurance even further. Along with that, I may simply practice with a ball or two. And as for the cherry on the cake, I will be stuffing myself with anime and video games, yes.
I am only able to speak English fluently. However, I am currently practicing my French, and thus have a good basis of this. I also hold a good basis of Hindi-Urdu, Bhojpuri, a bit of Punjabi and Gujarati, and a few other Indo-Aryan languages because of my background - however, I cannot call myself fluent in either of these languages. Besides the aforementioned, I know bits and pieces of an extremely large amount of languages, and understand specifically the working grammar of at least fifteen to twenty. Russian is easier than you think!
"The medium is the message." - Marshall McLuhan We are all familiar with the lovely Kingdom Hearts series as a video game, of course. Less familiar are we, but still so, with the Kingdom Hearts manga. Even less so are the derivatives and the like. However, one can understand that all of these derivative works do indeed derive from Kingdom Hearts not as a novel, not as a movie, but as a video game. However, what if Kingdom Hearts had instead been a novel? Perhaps a trilogy or a series with more than three books; perhaps a series with a large amount of books (where the spin-offs are treated equally with the main stories); perhaps a War and Peace style epic brick of a text. What if Kingdom Hearts was an epic poem, or written in a similar format? What if Kingdom Hearts was in fact a series of movies - Disney's next biggest film projects? What if Kingdom Hearts was a Doctor Who-like serial television series? I ask of you, would this have changed the way that Kingdom Hearts was to be understood, appreciated, and respected not only amongst your individual selves, nor the forum, but society as a whole? Would the environments of the book, film, poetry, and television affect its content, or would the medium itself affect the way in which the creators decided to present the story of Kingdom Hearts? Would there have been any massive changes, or very little changes? Would it make any difference, really? And most importantly, does reading the Kingdom Hearts manga, or any novel-like stories, change your experience of the plot?
From a shipping perspective, to be quite honest it appears that anything goes and even from their brief interactions there could be some basis for a ship that does theoretically exist, or could exist. However, from my perspective on the matter, as stated earlier in the thread, Olette really did not know the true Roxas of sorts. Though it would be fine for Square to have put in some ship teasing, the entire seven days seemed to focus more on the general friendship of the group - specifically, Roxas' equal interaction with the other three in simple innocent friendship - than anything. Even in this, the prologue portrayed Roxas as slightly distant from his friends. As for personal relations, I honestly do not know enough of Olette nor her interactions with Roxas in detail to get a good idea of whether or not they would be a fairly nice couple (which is compared to, say, Namine, of whom we know quite a bit, and has interacted with Roxas a good number of times). Hypothetically it is certainly possible! Especially taking into account the possibility of other adventures conducted with Roxas and his friends that we did not see, but for the aforementioned reasons I do not believe it would work as well - or at least, such would be the justification why Roxas x Olette has not been such a popular pairing.
Oh my dear I wish I were able to play Persona 3 at the moment, but bluh I am fairly busy this summer even. Where are you currently in the game,...
One must look for the justification, I suppose. In my opinion, the difference between your aforementioned Star Wars analogy and the presence of an increase of keyblade wielders is in regards to the plot background. The reason the Jedi felt so "common" in the prequels was because we simply had no backstory to them that was given to us within the film. Many of these Jedi were quite literally random strangers that were put in a position of power on the basis of being Jedi - a role that, we know through the exposition of the original trilogy, to be fairly powerful and prestigious. But besides their status as Jedi (which gave viewers a simple idea of the type of people they were), and perhaps the interesting qualities of their respective species, viewers knew little about these characters. This may be considered the reason why Jedi reveals in the original trilogy were more powerful - we at least had a backstory to these characters. We had justification. In Kingdom Hearts, the characters would thus have some sort of justification for their reveals as well, perhaps. For example, Kairi at least holds a major role as a Princess of Heart. The quality of the justification is another topic, but it is justification nonetheless. We have backstory to support this reveal, and as long as the justification is sensible, in my opinion the reveal should be quite acceptable. The special qualities of keyblade wielding do indeed appear to be diminished because there is a greater proportion of people wielding keyblades, but personally I do believe this would not diminish the significance of the keyblade. Even per keyblades, keyblade wielder attitudes, and keyblade powers, uniqueness exists. One could compare it to the usage of different coloured lightsabers, to return to the Star Wars analogy.
If they would be able to tie it in as a sequel to Wonderland's role in the previous games, then it is possible. The only problem I would see is the consistency in regards to the settings of the respective films - as, if I recall correctly, the Tim Burton interpretation is accordingly more dark and distorted, so to speak. (but alas, what else is one to expect from Mr. Burton!) Of course, it would be easy to justify this through the actions of the antagonist. I shall agree it would be a fun idea, however!
I am absolutely happy that Dream Drop Distance is up there, and from what I have heard and seen, it definitely deserves its nomination. However, even though there is a bit of a dearth in role playing games within E3, its competitors - especially Ni no Kuni, Dawnguard, and The Golden, would put up an extremely challenging competition. But in such a way, I would be quite fine with any of these four winning - they seem to all be fairly strong, well crafted RPGs in their own right, with lovely stories and already having successful developers and IPs behind them (specifically Ghibli in the case of Ni no Kuni). What is my prediction for the victor, however? Dawnguard, due to a good IP backing and fair bit of popularity amongst critics and gamers alike. That, or Ni no Kuni, for what appears to be a unique sense of artistic direction and creativity.
Hello to you! And how may you be this fine summer, assuming it is summer for you?
Ah goodness that was actually on my mind, to move it there, but preoccupation must have made me miss it. Thank you for the reminder, sir.
If I am correct, would it not simply be adjustments of a member's admission in the specific Premium user group? Unless the presence of 1000 posts and not being a Premium would cause confliction due to the aforementioned automatic changing to premium. If this is the case however, then people may perhaps privately request the administrators to keep them out of the Premium user group. I can understand the concerns over the colour and perhaps pin, but the factor of unnecessarily ridding of free perks seems to be a bit strange in my opinion - and there is the chance that people would simply use this to get out of having a pink name, but really, it is their freedom to do so, I suppose. I am on the fence for this, but would not mind either decision.
As stated earlier by our helpful members, the RP posts only count when a minimum, undisclosed character limit is reached. Enjoy your RPing from this point on, sir!
Well this is quite good for heavy roleplayers as they will at least have a superior chance at getting their lost posts back!
These antics are also giving me the temptation to install Ubuntu. Is there any luck, Fearless?
