xxxxxxxxxx Before Harley could move anywhere with Kallisti the strange Olivia, his mind grew slightly foggy and he began to think of the people on the email again. There was one name on there that he was slightly familiar with, John K. Quincy, the religious one.

. . . Harley didn't believe in any sort of god, not really - and didn't really like people who deluded themselves on the fact that there might be some higher deity. Suddenly, Harley didn't like John Quincy anymore. In fact, it was so much dislike that he just sort of . . . well, to be blunt, he wanted to wring out Quincy's neck. He bid goodbye to his cousin, telling her not to follow him and then Olivia as well and he set off to look for the little bastard.

Since he was closest to the Missionary Library, that's where he decided he would check first. To be honest, he always wanted to kill someone in a library. He walked across the grounds, the cool air brushing his face, and he soon found himself in front of the antique-ish building. Oldest library for a long while around. He walked up the steps to said library and opened the door, then closing it behind him. There seemed to be no people inside, and so when the door closed, there was a slight echo.

It smelled of must and books, but he kinda liked the quiet atmosphere - was the little bastard in here?

Perhaps I should get back into the habit of welcoming new people . . .

Hey there, kiddo, welcome to KHV. Don't be fooled by its name, KHV is a place that spreads the love; a lot of members have different interest and there are little groups here and there that stick together through what they have in common. I'm sure you'll find your niche soon. A good place to start looking at people would be The Spamzone and The Playground. A lot of people like to be in the RP Arena as well, that's where I am a lot.

I hope you enjoy your time with us.

xxxxxxxxxx Kallisti watched with interested as the other girl had straightened up - she didn't know if she would show her full appearance to them, or not, but it was certainly a hopeful idea. When she had, Kallisti immediately looked at her eyes, collecting on how they appeared and what mood they were in. The expression, brief as it was, was familiar; many of the people around her childhood also contained that sort of penetrating look that saw through people and knew what they were thinking before words formed from their stammering mouths.

Another giggle sounded and Kallisti almost sighed. This girl was mysterious, a mechanic of a book, the mysterious young girl who held all of the answers. Her eyes became a frosty warm color, one that would normally be found in the middle of the autumn months, on that one special day that, between all of the cold, one wouldn't have to wear gloves or earmuffs to keep their delicates warm. The girl held out her hand, but Kallisti didn't move forward, " How do you do? " she asked softly, and with another giggle.

" It is a fine pleasure to meet a coupe as educated as yourself in the midst of winter, " Her gaze met Kallisti's own, " You especially, my dear Miss Lein. It makes one proud to know that there are many people who are familiar enough with the lieder of Schubert. " It was, indeed, and there were also not many who were able to sing the Ave Maria with such perfection and clarity, " You may simply call me . . . Olivia. " Olivia, what an interesting name . . . It was certainly not one that was used commonly anymore, no longer popular.

She recalled that name, from once, long ago, perhaps on a day much like this one.

" Your eyes are like Lorinda's, you know. " Upon hearing that name, Kallisti's whole person faltered. Lorinda, that god-forsaken woman . . . Miss Olivia had acquaintance with her? No doubts came up in Kallisti's mind about Miss Olivia - it was certain that she was from the same circle that her family ran through, they had, indeed, crossed paths before, somewhere, some time ago, " . . . Ravensview if she ever decided to leave the Academy, which would be an armageddon for us all, truly. " . . . Leave the Academy - she is here? A teacher? Administrator? Or . . . Oh, this that was that Academy . . .

She peered behind her to Harley, checking his face for any signs of surprise about hearing their grandmother's name. A small hope there was in her heart that he was just as clueless as her, but one glance into his eyes told her otherwise - he knew that she was here, and he had been keeping it from her.

Her head tilted as she faced Olivia once more, " It is lovely to meet you, Miss Olivia. " she said in a calm voice, no longer being unguarded, " I did not know that you were acquainted with Lorinda. You might have guessed, of course, how could you not, that she is our grandmother. I . . . did not know that she was a present figure at this Academy, for as you see, we attended Bellhurst in Coy City. "

Kallisti was no longer so sure about attending Brookridge.

xxxxxxxxxx Harley knew, from the moment they had set foot in this room, that Olivia wasn't just a normal-classed citizen. Her family probably rode in the same circle as his and Kallisti's, and he would haven't been surprised if they'd seen each other a few times in their younger years. She seemed fragile, a bit like a snowflake, really, and her verbosity was unusual for someone her age, and the elegance that poured from her atmosphere was second to only Kallisti herself. There was no way they hadn't met before.

Upon her mentioning Lorinda, Harley saw Kallisti's body flinch - but just barely, Olivia wouldn't have noticed it, and he wondered how this girl knew their grandmother - their malicious grandmother, excuse him. What was she to Olivia? A teacher, mentor? Probably. He'd forgotten something though, and he had kind of forgotten it on purpose; Lorinda was the headmaster of Brookridge. She'd probably made it so that he and Kallisti attended, along with all of the other people in the email. Did she even know about it?

" Mr. Jackson, " Olivia started, catching his attention, " you have not uttered a single word since your arrival with Miss Lein. Or am I simply too indescribably for your tastes? " Harley almost laughed at that last bit, but then he remembered his burned in manners from childhood, " I am very much interested in your voice, you know. How one presents themselves - the very soul of their being - is emitted in fractions by how they word things. And I am rather positive that you, Mr. Jackson, must have a sou and voice as lovely as your cousin's. "

Oh, this chick was a riot, but he didn't comment on that, " Gotta apologize for shattering your image of me, but fine breeding was never really my thing. " he replied easily, " I do hope you'll forgive me. " Aunt Lilith would be so proud of him.

He looked at Kallisti after she had spoken, and then Olivia offered them on a walk, " That sounds like a fantastic idea. " he replied, and his cousin shot him a look, she was wary now that Lorinda was in the picture, " Yes, I do think we're interested. " And we're very interested in you, he added, but only in his mind.

" Lead the way. " he told her, motioning towards the door, " And perhaps you can tell us a bit about Lorinda. I'll say, we're both pretty surprised that you know her. " Wasn't that the truth . . .

xxxxxxxxxx The girl didn't turn around to meet their view, but the light from the outside shone on her snowy, long hair. So very ethereal, she almost wondered if who they were seeing was a spirit of someone long left from this world. Considering her dealings with psychotic witches, she could believe in most anything now, if she saw it. The glow of the hair was familiar though, just vaguely . . . It felt to be from some far off memory that wasn't quite complete, pieces lying here and there, the meeting of two aristocratic people . . .

The only sound that lingered in the air between the two was the silent echo of her praise to this girl's sky-born voice, and Kallisti would not be the first to break it. The other did not turn to see them, to look at them, but she finally spoke. " My, my, " her voice, tone was delicate, young, elegant, just as herself. Raised in a similar fashion, being in the company of the higher status, the well-to-do, " I certainly did not expect to have my little session interrupted now. If the students of my homeroom hear that their little representative is in such a strange location, the hoi polloi would have an uproar. "

Hoi polloi. Kallisti had not heard that term in . . . such a long time, it felt. Many of her aunts and uncles, and other elders would use the phrase quite a bit, but she never really . . . was fond of it. This girl, though, who she had discerned was, indeed, not a spirit of any sort, seemed so comfortable using the phrase, as if it had become natural to her. Did she think herself above the others? In class perhaps, even for Kallisti that was true, and she wouldn't deny that there were times that she looked down on others because of their inelegant behavior and manners, but she didn't think them . . . Ah, well.

" I can tell, from the very vocalizations of your rhetoric, that you are a very, very educated young lady. " the other girl stated with such a sureness in her voice, " Is that true, or am I simply - how would I say - filling myself with falsities? " There was another giggle, " Do you, perhaps, my fine mademoiselle, know which song exactly I was serenading the kind hearts of the frost with, on this fine winter morning? "

Kallisti gazed behind her, to Harley, to gauge his expression and thoughts on this situation, on this girl that was here in the place he wanted so much to come to. She recognized the look immediately - he was interested, and to be perfectly frank, so was she. It was obvious that this girl had been raised in the same kind of environment that Harley and she had. Perhaps that may be why she seemed so familiar . . . ? There was a substantial chance that they had crossed paths in life before, and now, at one of the most prestigious schools in the state, perhaps in the entirety of the country, they were meeting each other once more.

She naturally fell back into the mindset that was burned into her mind during childhood, " You are correct in your supposition that I have had a higher standard of education than the . . . 'hoi polloi', and therefore am educated in a vast amount of the arts. " she explained, her tone warm and alive, filling the room with the months of spring and summer, " The song is originally Ellens Gesang III, composed by the Austian composer Franz Schubert in the year 1852. It is apart of Schubert's Opus 52, which is the setting of seven songs for the epic poem The Lady of the Lake, by Walter Scott. " The feeling of these words flowing from her mouth so naturally was strange, perplexing; pouring out this knowledge to someone who would understand . . . Refreshing, " The song is generally recorded under the title of Ave Maria, the majority of the time, the lyrics and arrangement commonly differing from the original context and meaning of the poem. "

It had been a long time since she had explained something in such depth - there was a time, when she was younger, that she had to recite similar things every time at the same day. This girl, however, made her feel as if she were back in those times, where order and routine were her life.

" . . . But where are my manners. " she let out smoothly, " It is a pleasure to meet you, I am Kallisti Quintus Lein. The boy behind me is Harley Jay Jackson, he is my cousin. " It always felt peculiar to tell people that, for they looked nothing alike, even though his father and her mother were twins, " What shall I call you, miss? "

This life was what her mother tried to get away from, but elders are stubborn and dig their claws into the young. Once one is in it, it is life.

    { YOU ME NAMES LINKS DISDAIN } { MOOD : THOUGHTFUL }

xxxxxxxxxx Breakfast had been relatively quiet, and Kallisti had not spoken but two sentences to Harley. Being around him in recent times was . . . stressful. She used to be terrified of her cousin and his presence, ever since he had left her life all of that time ago. It wasn't exactly his fault - though he wasn't completely innocent, but it was more of he being the . . . favorite, and therefore spared of the path Kallisti's childhood had taken. She did not place the blame on his shoulders, not wholly, but as things stood, she couldn't place her trust in him, or anyone he might be in relations to. That was not a risk she was willing to take.

At any rate, she had finished her breakfast and Harley had decided he wanted to check out the astrology tower for some reason, so she decided she would tag along with him - not that he would let her stay in the diner by herself. As the two of them left, Harley received a phone call and shortly left Kallisti to her own thoughts, which traveled back to the trek that brought them here. Her mind flowed around Cherno and his revealing that he had amnesia - he hadn't remember any of them, but it seemed that some previous thoughts had lingered, such as his close friendship with John and his older brother status with Anthony. Memories of the heart are much more difficult to forget. She hadn't known, though, that he had been in love ( maybe? ) with Miss Temperance; however, Kallisti didn't like to think about Miss Temperance, the girl with the awful behavior and superior-complex-filled attitude.

Temperance herself, though, wasn't the reason she didn't like to think about her - there was something, perhaps someone, associated with her, and that thought brought an ache to Kallisti's chest and made her feel a deep sadness.

Before she could dwell anymore on it, however, Harley had finished his phone call and said they should hurry. He seemed cheerful enough, but Kallisti still didn't trust that gleam in his eyes, the one that yearned so much for her to be safe.

xxxxxxxxxx It still seemed that his cousin was in the dark about what happened on the train, and for that, he was grateful. Kallisti wasn't an unstable person, if anything, she was freakishly calm, but her mindset was fragile, had a certain way of working, and when it was disturbed, everything basically went to **** for her.

He sighed. Anthony had come to join them at their table, which he was slightly glad for because this meant Anthony hadn't grown resentful of him for how lethally his behavior towards Heidi was. Speaking of, he hadn't seen here anywhere in the diner - not that he really expected to, after what went down . . .

    " So . . . " Anthony began, " What do you guys think of Analynne? "

. . . That was actually a pretty good question. The fine print of the rules, " NO ANALYNNE, NO ANALYNNE, NO ANALYNNE " had seemed pretty . . . definite, but being in the fine print, it was obvious little Crestatia didn't want them to see that part. His immediate and first guess was that Analynne was another witch, one that Crestatia didn't want them to know about - but why? He bet that Analynne could help them in some way, but if she was a witch as well, then she wasn't to be trusted at all.

Harley wondered if she could be summoned like Crestatia said she could.

Before he could actually answer the other, though, he was gone, and Harley raised an eyebrow, shrugging it off minutes later.

Eventually, Harley and Kallisti finished their food and headed out of the diner to do some exploring around the academy. He was really anxious to go to that astrology tower to check out the telescope and its specs. Before that, though, they had explored some other places; the courtyards, classrooms, auditorium, and luckily for the both of them, they had one of the largest music halls in the state - fantastic! With an academy like this, they were also sure to have a symphonic orchestra of their own, one that he'd definitely join.

Some time after they fully moved through the music hall ( which was basically its own building ), they finally got where he wanted to be - the astrology tower. They went through the door to see a staircase that hugged the wall and spiraled up. The climb to their destination wasn't too much, but about halfway up, Harley thought he might have been hearing things - hearing a voice. As they drew closer up, Kallisti was hearing it, too. They stopped to listen and found that it was someone singing a song.
    ━━━━━
    ━━━━━
Upon listening more, Kallisti pointed out that it was the Ava Maria, a song that was originally instrumental and composed by Franz Schubert, who wrote seven similar pieces from the epic poem, The Lady in the lake. It was sung most beautifully, and the two of them quietly and carefully made their way closer to the door. It inaudibly opened and they stepped in to see a girl with pale hair and fair skin, looking through the out the window that perimetered the tower.

The two stood by and the song came to a soft end. Harley was surprised that someone so young could sing something so difficult - in opera, too. Kallisti had stepped forward and called out to the girl, " That was very beautiful. " she said, awed by the music.

xxxxxxxxxx Time had completely passed her by. It was already midnight . . . Looks like they were going to have to stay the night here, but her stomach growled, she was a little hungry. Perhaps there was somewhere to eat around here?

That's all she really wanted to do at this point, eat, and then maybe go sleep later. After minutes of picking, she'd gotten Harley to let go of her hand; she had know idea what that boy was thinking, but if he was trying to get closer to her, she wasn't having it . . . While she was slightly more comfortable with her cousin, she wasn't all smiles and laughs. Harley was up to something, and she didn't like whatever it was . . .

Unfortunately, while she was trying to be serious, her stomach growled and her cousin looked at her, making her face even more red than before. Her body always decided to act up at the worst times . . . " What . . . ? " she let out in the light of her uncomfortable state, " I am hungry. Are you not? "

xxxxxxxxxx Harley was just slightly apprehensive about Kallisti. Then there was the fact that Alli hadn't text him back yet; he really could use some cheering up, and that was what friends were for. Too bad for him, Alli was just about his only friend, and she wasn't always available.

Just as he was about to become deeper in thought, he heard a small grumble next to him, and he looked at Kallisti. Her face was red. He laughed, " I'm kinda hungry too, yeah, " he replied to her, and then the two turned away from the castle-like school. Originally, he had been planning to check out the astronomy tower, but that would have to wait for later. Maybe eating something would make him feel better . . .

" Do you think that we should invite the rest of those kiddos? " He didn't know if all of them would consent, especially not after his behavior, but hunger was a universal feeling, and he figured it'd been a while since some of them ate. When Kallisti shrugged, so did he, " I guess it wouldn't hurt. "

The two made their way back to the station to see the others, " Hey. " he called to them casually, " Kallisti and I are gonna get some breakfast, anyone who wants to come, should. " He honestly didn't care if they did, but it was always nice to be invited. The two of them made their way to a small, quaint diner that still seemed to be open. Harley didn't pick a large table, but he did warn of there being others to come.

Soon enough, Kallisti and he were eating their delicious breakfast foods.

    { OOC : ON THE TRAIN ! }
    { YOU ME NAMES LINKS DISDAIN } { MOOD : CALM / CONFUSED }

xxxxxxxxxx For a long time, everything had been silenced in Kallisti's mind. Nothing could be heard but an extremely faint dripping that seemed to happen every ten seconds. In between the drips, there was a deafening silence, one she thought she couldn't stand to hear much longer, until the next sound brought her relief. How strange, how terrible . . . Long periods of pain for just a brief moment of relief. It felt like this for a long time. It was all cold.

Eternities later, a warmth began to sink in to the black, the drips were becoming more often, and then it began to sound like rain. The rain, mixed with the warmth . . . Soothing. The black expanded, colors began to fade in, and light fell through.

Kallisti opened her blue eyes and found herself looking at the metal floor of the train. They were still on it. The warmth enveloped her, and when she shifted slightly, it loosened up. She saw the familiar Converse and let out a shaky breath. Harley, he was holding her, why? Maybe she had fallen asleep? All around her, besides the pattern of the train running across the tracks and the soft murmur of other civilians, it was quiet. How strange; everyone had seemed to talkative before . . .

When I tell you not to think about something anymore, you listen to me. I don't want to go through this again, you hear? I do not know what you are talking about . . . Have I done something wrong? Yeah, you didn't listen to me. Don't let it happen again. I do what's best for you and me. Understand? I understand . . .

Kallisti still had no idea what Kal ( what she decided to call the other voice ) was talking about. What had she done wrong? Why was Kal so angry with her? Or frustrated, at the very least . . .

At last, she pulled herself away from Harley, and he looked at her with an unusual expression in his eyes. She was unused to this look on him, so foreign . . . He was actually worried about her.

xxxxxxxxxx Harley was never one to be disappointed in himself, and he definitely wasn't now. What Heidi had said was thoughtless and was with a complete lack of disregard. Seeing Kallisti in such a state shook him, humbled him, made him want to tear the world apart because she was feeling like that. Originally, when Heidi had curled up, he felt no remorse over his actions - to be perfectly honest, he still didn't.

The thing about it was . . . well, Heidi didn't know any better, not really. Harley knew, after talking to her at the hot springs, that she was schizophrenic, that she had some serious stuff going on in her head. He didn't know specifically what it was - could have been anything, really. Music, imagery, hallucinations, voices . . . If he remembered correctly, most schizophrenics heard voices, some faint, others . . . not so much. Not to mention, how could Heidi have known about Kallisti's relationship with Madeline - whatever that may have been - it wasn't like she had hovered around them or overheard. Not that he knew of, anyway.

Now that he had cleared it up, though, without yelling, she would probably know better for next time. He would have to apologize, soon, if he wanted to save what little friendship he had started with her. After all . . . It felt like no one else was going to protect her from herself.

" Friend, " a voice came, and Harley looked to see Cherno who was slightly pale, " I don't think it would do any of us any good if we start grabbing at each others' throats so soon after two - I - " He watched the slightly shorter Cherno tumble over his words. He'd had a relationship with Temperance. Harley might be the same, in his position. " We don't want repeats. We've got to learn from our mistakes. Try and understand that she didn't mean any harm with what she said, you dig? " Harley was ten moves ahead of this guy, he already knew that, " She's like a little kid, you know. " Take back ten, maybe eleven or twelve.

She had run out of the car. He sighed to himself, mentally rubbing his temples. He hoped she would stay so that he could say sorry now - but maybe the effect wouldn't have been as strong. Later then, definitely.

He knew, though, he knew that Heidi's words had affected him just as much as it had Kallisti. She and he were in the same boat - in fact, he wouldn't be surprised if they grew closer because of it. " I hear you. " Harley said, calmly, no threat in his tone like before, " I'll make sure to apologize to her, soon. What about yourself, hmm? Saw that she struck a little heart string there, almost broke it, looks like. You sure you're good? " Cherno had walked away.

Kallisti was awake now, he hadn't realized she pulled herself away from him, " Hey . . . " he said, in a slightly weak voice, " You alright, there? " He didn't know what else to say.

She looked at him, her pupils dilated, but she smiled slightly, " I am fine. " she said, her tone curious, " Are you well? "

He could have laughed at that question, but he didn't answer. Instead, he pulled out his phone to see another message from Alli. Oh, he could use some cheering up . . .

So dude. Whatever happened with quintus?
You never did tell me. Also how's the ride?
Making new friends? I hope you're not disturbing anyone.

    . . . Ha. Fucking. Ha.

    Everything's just peachy, Alli.
    Just. Fucking. Peachy.
I'll tell you about Kallisti, later.
Hope to see you soon. I could use a friend.
    - Harley

Harley sighed, and Kallisti leaned back into the seats, humming to herself. Did she repress her memories, again? He almost wished she didn't do that. He leaned back into the seat, as well. Cristina was still next to him, he should talk to her. He didn't feel like it. What did Anthony think of him now? That kid . . . These kids . . . They were all gonna be the death of him.

They had finally arrived, and Harley wasted no time dragging Kallisti off the train, her not even complaining in the slightest. The first thing he saw was a giant castle. Swanky place, this was. How was he going to fit in, here? Eh, he didn't care. It was a nice place. He didn't know if others were following him, but he decided it would be a good idea to find their rooms or explore a little bit. With Kallisti's hand in his, he began to walk.

xxxxxxxxxx Kallisti hadn't really been paying much attention to the taller boy next to her, but it seemed as if he was conversing with a girl who was slightly familiar. She minded her own business and observed the people around her from the school.

Across from her was a small girl with blue eyes and slightly whimsical clothing. She couldn't place a name with a face, but she was sitting next to John, who had apparently had an emotional breakdown with Cherno - they were close friends? She didn't know that. She shifted to a more elegant position, her hands resting in her lap and her head tilted down slightly. Next to Cherno was Anthony, who seemed happy just to be sitting next to Cherno.

The rest of them, though, on the other side of the seating, she didn't know or care about. She tilted her head back down as she listened to Cherno's voice.

" Temperance. " As if on reflex, she moved her head up to stare hard at Cherno. That name . . . That name . . . Oh, that name . . . It meant something to her, she - she knew it! But what, what did it mean? She was almost tempted to hit her head to figure it out, but she was much calmer than that. Temperance, Temperance.

Stop. But - No, stop it now.

" Well. You know, haha. S - she, " he began to stutter, and she looked more intently at him. He cared for this girl named Temperance. Who was she? " She . . . she isn't able to come back from the hot springs . . . if you know what I mean . . . "

No, Cherno Plume, I do now know what you mean, please tell me more about this Temperance girl. Stop it. Now. I will not tell you again.

Before she could argue with the voice again, though, Cherno sprung something that she wasn't expecting, " That's right. I have amnesia. " And then he stared at the space in front of him, " I have amnesia. In all honesty, ever since the hot spring, I have little idea who any of you are, beyond the last . . . fifteen days? "

Fifteen days - that's how long it's been since the game started. Why fifteen? Cherno laughed, but Kallisti didn't say anything. She wanted to know more about this Temperance girl - she was missing something very important about her. She didn't want to speak of it though, not in front of all of these people - did they all know who Temperance was? Surely . . .

" Temperance dead . . . and that Madeline girl, too. " Madeline. Madeline.

    Madeline.

    Madeline.

Kallisti unknowingly put her head in her hands. She felt overwhelmingly sad, but for what reason, she didn't know, her heart swelled with pain, her mind churned with fog. That name. It hurt her. So much. The top half of her body bent over, and her chest touched her knees. This was awful. Who was Madeline? Why was this name making her so sad? Her head hurt, like there was a raging battle, like something was trying to break though, but something was netting it down to keep it locked up. She couldn't do this. It hurt. It hurt. It hurt. It hurt. Stop. Stop, STOP. STOP. STOP. STOP IT NOW.

Kallisti sat back up, hearing Harley's harsh voice, and she immediately grabbed onto him and pulled him to sit back down, her whole body shaking almost violently. When he calmed down, she buried herself into his chest as he wrapped his arms around her, and she didn't want to ever hear that name again.

xxxxxxxxxx At last, the train had started to move, and the Bellhurst group was on their way to scouting their new school, and their new home. It was going to be weird, not living alone in his condo anymore. He definitely would have to be more careful about how he conducted his . . . research and experiments with people. Humans, who knew they could be so fragile?

He listened to the reply that Cristina's device provided him with, Kallisti changed to a more distant position from him, but he wasn't changing his attention to anyone else, yet, " No, I don't. It's hard in my condition. " Oh, so she did have something physical from letting her talk. Hmm . . . Dysphonia? Or worse, it might be aphonia. " Conversations with several people are too fast paced for me to contribute. Most of the time I nod or shake my head. But it's okay. "

Harley frowned, it must be hard to live like that, especially for a girl who looked so frail. He shook his head and sighed. As he was about to reply, he heard Cherno speak up. Oh, Amnesia, he thought as much. He was going to say something, but then Heidi spoke, and what she said, Harley didn't like. " Do not ever say that name in front of Kallisti, ever, ever again. " he said, his voice low and dangerous. Harley Jackson was not the person you wanted to cross while he was angry. He didn't want to be mean to Heidi, didn't want to be angry at her, but after he stood up and said that, he looked at Kallisti, whose form was hunched over like she was in pain, clutching at her head.

" I'm not sure you understand the gravity of the situation, but I will not hesitate to put a stop to it should something similar happen again. " He didn't care about the others right now, Kallisti was his main focus - her well being was what he cared about now, and that was it. He didn't want to be angry at anyone, but before he could start again, before he could physically damage anyone, someone pulled him to sit back down. Kallisti herself, and he let it happen. She was shaking, pretty badly, and he looked at no one but her.

Would she go back to how she was yesterday? Turn back into a kid? He didn't know if he could let all of these people see that happen. She buried her face into his chest and the only thing he could do was hold her and close off the rest of the world from hurting her,

xxxxxxxxxx " I haven't heard too much about it, but it will definitely be different from what I'm used to. " How much different, Harley wondered? Where did she go to school - he didn't think that he knew, actually. He began to become curious about little Cristina's background, about she herself. What was her worst fear, her worst experience . . . Her worst nightmare? What thing was what she feared most? How did she behave when she was scared, terrified? What would happen if she was provoked while terrified? Would she flip? Freak out? Go ballistic? Primal? Barbaric? Without realizing it, Harley had been staring intently at her, but upon realizing it - hopefully she hadn't noticed - his expression eased up.

" Yeah, I think we'll all need some adjusting, " he replied with a smile.

" I've never attended a boarding school before. I would be relieved if I found out that she was my roommate. It would be nice to have a familiar face. " This little explanation brought more questions to Harley's mind. There was someone Cristina didn't want to see at Brookridge, someone she was avoiding. He wondered who could be so bad? Well, she didn't look like she was one to be able to stand her ground for much time, so it could be anyone, but he was still curious. What a shame - who would hurt someone like her?

. . . He could hurt someone like her, but it was far too soon for anything like that, and he didn't even know what she was scared of. Not to mention . . . He didn't really want to hurt Cristina - but he wouldn't put it past him.

" I take it you don't have many friends, or get around to talking to many people, do you? " he asked casually, yet carefully, to move the conversation along. More people were starting to appear on the train, and they were getting ready to go, soon. Hopefully Allison would show, too. He didn't want her to miss this.

Just on cue, his phone vibrated and he took it out of his pocket to see the message he'd gotten.

Dude thanks for the late message.
Text me when you guys are at the academy.
I have to meet you guys there.
And i'm older than you, *******.

He chuckled at the message but slipped his phone back into his pocket, turning his attention again, to Cristina, awaiting her answer.

xxxxxxxxxx " I've been well, " the mechanical voice told him, but when he looked at Cristina's face, it said otherwise, but he didn't comment on it, he'd probably make her uncomfortable, " How about you? " it then asked, " Also, how has Kallisti been, she wasn't feeling well the other day, right? "

He almost faltered in his calm smile and expression - almost, but then he replied just as smoothly, " She's been well, thanks for asking. " Thankfully, the area around them was a bit loud, so Kallisti wasn't really able to hear their conversation, " Something she wasn't expecting happened at the hot springs, and, well . . . she kinda panicked. " he chuckled easily, not moving the right side of his body as not to disturb Kallisti or set her on edge anymore than she already was.

" So I take it you're going to Brookbridge as well? What do you think of it? " he then asked, changing the subject away from the girl next to him, " You and my cousin might be dorm mates. " he winked with a smile. Ah, Cristina probably wasn't a bad kid at all, though he wondered if she was mute or had some physical barrier that kept her vocals from forming. He bet that she probably would have been a fantastic opera singer, given the chance.

xxxxxxxxxx Harley was humming a catchy little tune to himself that he had made up on the spot while noticing that every once in a while, Kallisti would shiver, move closer to him, or sigh. This was pretty bad for her, and he knew that, but she was too prideful to ask for anyone's help, so he did what he could. He stayed there and said nothing to her. There were about ten minutes until the train would be on its way, and not many other for the academy had boarded, yet.

He sighed and then felt a small tug on the sleeve of his jacket, making him look to his left. Oh, it was her, the little blonde girl who couldn't talk. With its mechanical voice, the device spoke to him, barely catching Kallisti's attention, " Hello, I met with you the other day. " it said, " My name is Cristina. "

He smiled at her, " Yeah, I remember you, Cristina, " he replied, " Guess we didn't get to properly introduce ourselves the other day. My name is Harley. " and then he motioned to Kallisti beside him, " This is Kallisti, my . . . " Hmm, should he call her his cousin? It didn't really feel right, but he sighed in defeat, " . . . cousin. She was the girl you saw at the hot springs. "

He hoped his "cousin" hadn't heard that last bit . . . That was the last thing she needed, to remember why she had passed out in the first place, and then turn into a little girl, again. He turned his attention back to Cristina. She looked tired - a lot more so than when he had last seen her. Poor kid, she's probably been through a lot. Probably some bitchy girl bothering her, or something, " How've you been? " he asked, tilting his head with a smile.

xxxxxxxxxx Ah, she didn't know Harley knew some of these people. It kind of bothered her; what did he know them for? Had he ever done anything bad to them? Her responsibility, as his cousin, was to make sure he didn't mess with any of these people. Their situations were already bad enough as it was . . .

It dawn on her . . . There were . . . a lot of people in this station, and when her eyes followed Anthony to the inside of the train, there were more people in there. In that closed space . . . Her body grew slightly shaky and she quickly closed her eyes to calm herself down. It would be alright, nothing bad would happen . . . Yet, her mind began to produce every single thing that could go wrong. She wasn't afraid of dying, no, she was, however, afraid of being unable to escape, and with that train moving fast, and so many people . . . The chance of someone escaping it was slim, at most.

A minute passed and Kallisti let out the breath she didn't realize she was holding. If Crestatia wanted to crash that train, wanted them all to die, then . . . then so be it.

Cherno had looked at her with a light of recognition, albeit a slow-to-realize one, and replied to her, but upon hearing it, something was off about him. He was . . . nervous? Eh . . . Maybe it was just her mind, picking at irrelevant details. She shrugged and turned back to the train. Her thought clearing up as she impulsively began walking. She needed to do this without thinking about it. One thing she did thing about, though, was grabbing Harley's hand and dragging him along. She couldn't do this alone.

xxxxxxxxxx Oh, he had almost forgotten - how? Alli was probably going to attend this academy, too. She'd probably like to see the place, so he brought out his phone and typed up a quick message to her.

Hey, me and a couple kiddos are heading to Brookrige
Hurry along, kohai, otherwise you'll miss the train
    - Your sempai, Harley-kun ♥♥♥
( I noticed you, btw, be happy )

He grinned at the message, satisfied with it, and listened to the small exchanged between Cherno and Kallisti. Cherno's attention left Kallisti a little too quickly, as if he were brushing her off and Harley narrowed his eyes slightly, but relaxed when he saw the other's attention turned to little Heidi. Ah, man . . . Why did all of these kids have to cause him so much worry? It was like Crestatia had a . . . a fetish for tragic teenagers.

Soon enough, Kallisti was dragging him along into the train. He was surprised; she remained unusually close to him throughout the time they had been here, and when Harley realized that there were more people than he originally thought, he sighed. Kallisti was claustrophobic, and had been ever since she was young. He didn't blame her, considering what she had to deal with. He sighed and let himself be pulled along, then pushed into a seat as she huddled up close to him. Unusual, indeed.

He hoped the others would hurry up.

xxxxxxxxxx It seemed that she and Harley were not the first people to arrive at the station, which Kallisti was a little disappointed for because she liked to be early. There were a fair few familiar faces - all from the e-mail, of course. Though . . . It felt like she hadn't seen some of them in eons. She decided that it was best to stick close to Harley, while seeing some of the others converse among themselves.

Ah, there was one face she wasn't really familiar with . . . A girl, with unnaturally pinkish hair and blue eyes. That overall effect reminded her a little of the Final Fantasy XIII character, Lightning Farron. Kallisti shook her head, this girl didn't look competent, nor like a good way to spend her time. Anthony, she noted, looked a lot more colorful than he had since she had last seen him, and she was glad for it. He deserved to be happy.

" Good evening, Cherno. " she said to him, bowing her head slightly. This was the first time she had seen his face since the auditorium incident - he had hated her then, she felt, but now there was something different about him. His posture was straighter, his face was clearer. Definitely something different, " It has been a while. Oh, you do not have to worry about our tickets, Harley and I will buy our own. "

She looked at the others, but kept her attention mostly on Cherno, as he said he would be telling them something on the train. " Who else do you think will come? "

xxxxxxxxxx There were already some other people by the time they had gotten to the station, and there was Cherno, rallying about the others. He picked Anthony from the group right off the back, " Hey there, Hero. " he said with a smile, " How've you been? "

He wondered to himself how all of these people had been since the hot springs incident. There was Heidi, too, " How're your scratches doing, kiddo? " he asked, looking at the little exposed skin for anymore damage that might have appeared since he'd last seen her, " I hope you're doing better. " There was Altair, too, but Harley merely nodded at him in acknowledgement.
Upon Kallisti mentioning tickets, Harley went to go buy both of their's before she could protest, and returned to Cherno asking a question in a small, nervous voice. " I - is, is John . . . here? "

Oh, right the religious one. Harley scanned the others and only found Alyssa, but no one else, " He's not here yet, but maybe he'll turn up soon. " he said, slightly reassuring. He wondered who else would come. " We should probably get a move on soon, if we want to see Brookridge by the end of the day. " It seemed that the way things were going now, they weren't ever gonna get to their destination, and he didn't want to be out in this cold too long.

xxxxxxxxxx Kallisti let out a contented sigh after laying back onto her bed. How comfortable . . . But for how long? Reluctantly, she had decided that she would go to Brookridge, and so she would leave all of this behind . . . It wasn't what she really wanted, but it was what had to be done . . . Of course, nothing was stopping her from coming back to her home, and it wasn't like she'd be away forever, but . . . From her case, Kallisti lifted her violin and brought it to her shoulder and chin, pulling the bow across the strings for a clear sound that resonated throughout her room.
Despite things, she really never had time to sit and ponder the situation she was in now. Originally, this had all been a joke to her, something that was silly, a waste of her time, but . . . Now, she had no time left. Less than eighty-five days were left. Her views on dying still hadn't changed, if it was her time to go, then it was her time, but she hadn't expected her life to be cut so short so . . . quickly. She sighed.

She wasn't afraid of dying, wasn't afraid of having her life taken away from her, but she was afraid of her life being meaningless, that no one would remember. Not even in her own thoughts did she pull out this card, it was a cheap one, but she couldn't help but think that she had been through too much to die for nothing. Her body had been made worthless, yes, the markings on her proved that, as did the scars inside her body, but her mind could still be of so much use to the world! She had barely even yet to love, though, yet to be loved . . . Yet to know what it was like to be sky high in emotion, to hit rock bottom. There was still so much to experience in the world - so much that surely one hundred days wasn't enough to let her see it all, do it all . . .

The music ended and she looked to her bed, just in time to see the light of its screen shut off. After gently setting her violin down, she picked up the phone and checked it. Ah, there was a reply from Cherno.

    Yo, Quin.
I'm uh-- well, I could be better.
Look, about Brookridge. I'll be attending the jive place, yeah.
In fact, why not meet up at Frontier sometime this evening so we can go take a look.
A few others will be there.
Namely because I need to inform you of something.
    - Cherno

It sounds like a plan. I feel Harley Jackson will be
coming with me, I hope you do not mind.
He is like a lost puppy, sometimes.
    -Quintus
Inform her of something? Something specifically, or . . . To address the group? She wondered who else would be going. Well, at least he was going to Brookridge as well. Wanted to meet up at Frontier, did he? She would certainly be there. But what of Harley? Ah, he would probably want to come, too, since he seemed to apt in not letting her stray to far from him. Bodyguard? How annoying . . .
. . . Maybe she didn't mind it so much, though.

xxxxxxxxxx Harley listened to the beautiful music that echoed from the upstairs. He leaned back in the recliner and closed his eyes, feeling at peace. There was no other player, no other music in the world that could make him feel this . . . comfortable, happy. With her music, the whole world and its problems melted away. This music, though, was dancing, angry, frustrated. Just by listening to it, he could tell Kallisti was deep in her mind, thinking out something of a serious nature.

    What was it, he wondered?
Just a few minutes later, Kallisti came down stairs dressed differently than before and he raised an eyebrow - was she going somewhere? " My, my, you look nice. " he commented with a cheeky smile, " Going on a date? " Though he really didn't like that idea - he was playing around, after all.

" You get dressed, too, " she said.

" Oh, this is a new development, " he began to tease with a raised eyebrow, " I didn't know you were into incest, Kallisti. "

At hearing her name, Harley expected her face to flash that same angry look she always had when she heard it, but this time, it was slight surprise, and that was all. Anyway, what did she want him along for? Earlier, she barely wanted him near her, but now this? Ahh, what a change of demeanor. " Oh, be quiet. " she told him, annoyed, " We are going to Frontier Station, to meet Cherno Plume and scout this . . . Brookridge Academy. You will be attending, too, I assume, so it was only right to invite you . . . "

Cherno Plume, huh? Harley wondered to himself how that kid's memory was coming along and if he had solved any of his issues. " That, and I wouldn't even think of letting you go anywhere alone, " he added, " Nope, not in your condition, not alone. " So a few minutes later, Harley came back downstairs wearing jeans, black Converse, a white tshirt, and a black blazer. " Am I fit to be seen with you, princess? " he asked.

In reply, she rolled her eyes, and pushed his keys into his chest, " You are driving. "

The two teenagers stepped out of the house after Kallisti wrote a note to Lee about where they would be ( though Harley doubted Lee would see it at all ), they stepped out into the cool, late afternoon air. Walking down the driveway, both of them hopped into Harley's car, and he cranked up some classical music for the both of them to enjoy. This genre of music was Kallisti's soft spot, so she would feel better through the thirty-or-something minutes to took to get to the station.

xxxxxxxxxx Silence almost rang throughout her room as Kallisti sat at the edge of her bed, deep in thought. A thousand thoughts passed through her mind; where was her father? Would she really attend Brookbridge? Why let Harley stay? How was Tyler doing? Did anyone notice how she almost never wore shorts, dresses, or skirts without leggings?

Ah, what a funny question . . . Pretty sure no one knows the reason, but me and Harley, love. I do not doubt what you say. Have you ever considered telling anyone else? The truth . . . ? That is a horrible idea, I do not know why you would suggest such a thing. Food for though, darling. . . . No, I have not . . . Tyler, perhaps, but he may think ill of me. I do not have many friends, you know. I do. You've got too many walls. Don't want people getting close to you. You are right . . . Kallisti sighed. She didn't like getting close to people, and vice versa. Every time she did, it felt like they either betrayed her, used or, or ended up thinking bad of her. How Tyler made his way in to her little world, she had no idea.

Next to her, on her bed, was her phone, and she looked at it. She felt like talking to someone, but who . . . ? Hmm, all of the Bellhurst students would have also received that letter via mail or e-mail, perhaps she could talk to one of them about it . . . ? She looked through her list of contacts . . . Oh, a message, from Anthony. Anthony . . . The name was familiar . . . Oh . . . " That's right! " she said to herself, upon remembering; he was the sweet boy who viewed life as a video game. How was he doing, she wondered? She read his message.

    -Hero Anthony

Hero Anthony . . . Such a sweet and innocent boy. What a horrible fate this was for him, to die in less than one hundred days . . . So much wasted life, wasted potential . . . It made her heart weigh heavy. She began to type a grateful reply.

    Good morning, Hero.
I was unaware of an eclipse, but the earthquake was not missed.
For what reason would C do such a thing? I know she likes to play, but
I did not think her so childish. I am fine, thank you. I hope you are well, too.
    - Archer Quintus

She blinked at what she had written. Why Quintus? Why not Kallisti? She frowned. No, don't change it. This is how it's always been for you. They'll think something's up. Don't change it. Oh, very well . . . When she sent the message, she returned to her contacts list. Anthony, Brian, Cherno, Harley, Lo - no. Why did she even have that number? How disgusting . . . But she didn't delete it. Madeline, Melissa, Tyler . . . Oh. She didn't recognize that name. Madeline, who was that? You shouldn't dwell on that too much, love. Do not say such things, you will only pique my curiosity more. I'm saying it for your own good. Repression is a powerful thing. Anyway, pick a random name and text it about Brookbridge. You're bound to get something. I cannot pick. Pick this Cherno fellow. . . . Very well, but why him? You weren't gonna pick, I picked for you.

She blinked again and then shrugged, typing up a message to Cherno.

    Good morning, Cherno.
I hope you are well, it has been some time since our last conversation.
Did you also receive the letter about Brookbridge? I believe all of our classmates did.
I do not know if I want to go or not, but there seems to be no choice.
    What of yourself?
    - Quintus

Kallisti looked at the name Quintus again. Why her middle name and not her first?

Oh, she wished she could remember.

She thought it was going to last longer than just a few seconds, but when everything stilled once more, she looked around the bathroom; just a few things had fallen off the shelf, but everything was in tact. She placed a hand over her chest and calmed down.

" Everything alright? " she heard from downstairs. Oh, right, he was still here . . . Why hadn't she kicked him out yet?

" I am fine! " she shouted back, sighing after, " Are you okay? " But that last part, she only said to herself. Sighing again, she stood up and wrapped a towel securely around her body and left for her room. About fifteen minutes later, she joined Harley back in the kitchen, where a wonderful smell had been flowing from. Breakfast, her favorite meal of the day, but he must have known that. She sat down at the kitchen island and rested her chin on her hand, watching Harley move around, humming to himself. It was strange, there was a part of her that wanted him gone, out of her life, but . . . there was the other part that wanted him to stay.

Her mind flashed back to the first night of being locked inside the school, where she had interacted with him for the first time in a very long time . . . She thought he moved out of town, out of state . . . But no, he was still here, still behind her. Watching her. Why did he come back? Oh, and those words . . . Were they really true? What she feared . . . Who she feared . . . Visibly she shook her head as Harley began to set food down.

" So, did you think anymore on that Brookbridge deal? " he asked as he pulled up a stool to the island, making himself a plate of delicious breakfast foods.

As she herself grabbed a plate, she looked at him. How surreal this was . . . " . . . I still do . . . not know . . . " she admitted quietly, " But if I do not go, I cannot graduate, so I feel I truly have no other choice. "

" That's the same for me. " he added, digging into his plate, " Guess we're still gonna go to school together. You think they'll have an orchestra? "

" I certainly hope so! " she exclaimed without even thinking about it. When she caught herself, her face turned red, " I h - hope so . . . "

The two ate breakfast and then assumed doing their own things. Perhaps they could do something together, later, Harley suggested, but she wasn't so sure.

She, she, she, why can't you refer to yourself as your own name? Ah . . . I did not know I was not. You have been, and it's kinda annoying.

Kallisti. She breathed. Kallisti. It's not so bad, is it?

    . . . No, it is not.

xxxxxxxxxx After what felt like hundreds of years, consciousness surfaced in her foggy and dizzy mind. Nothing of the previous days could be remembered, and the only clear thing that came to her mind was the voice of a young girl, and barely, barely, the voice of an older boy talking to her. She didn't know who either of these people were, but the sound of their voices was enough to keep her from panicking about what might be happening.

Unfortunately, she wasn't so lucky when she woke up, in her bed, with no idea how she got there - her face cuddled into someone's firm and warm chest. When her blue eyes cracked open, she realized that she was in a very undesirable position with someone very . . . undesirable. It took all of her control to not yelp and push his sleeping body of the bed. Luckily enough, his arms weren't wrapped around her that well, and so with excruciating slowness, she pulled herself away from his body and out of the bed.

When she was on her two feet, she finally realized that her breathing was shallow and fast. Tons of thoughts rushed to her mind - most all of them on the very inappropriate side. Why were they in bed together - why had she been sleeping with him? In only a shirt and underwear, no less! At least he looked like he was wearing boxers - and she could see his shirt, so did that mean they had done nothing? Oh, she doubted that so much . . . Of all of the people to appear in her bed, why did it have to be Harley Jackson, her own cousin? It was . . . was . . . most certainly unacceptable!

How angry she was - she wanted nothing more than to punch this boy in the face . . .

To blow off her pent up anger, and forgetting that she barely had any clothing on, the girl strut out of the room and stamped her feet down the stairs, feeling a little better by the time she hit the bottom. In another part of her mind, she was trying to get a grip on the things that had happen in the weeks before, but nothing was coming through clear. She picked up a few things, though, a destiny-deciding e-mail, a demon named Crestatia, and the names of people who were no longer a part of the living. Frustratingly enough, she couldn't remember how any of them died . . . Thomas, Ashina, Xavier, and Abigail . . . As soon as those four names passed through her head, she felt like she was forgetting someone . . .

Before she could walk into the kitchen, the mail bell was rung and she turned around to head to the door. Next to the door was a little box where mail was inserted from the outside. She opened it and found a letter addressed to her, and it was from the school; her eyes quickly skimmed over it, barley registering the footsteps coming up behind her.

. . . Brookbridge Academy? Dorms . . . ? Ah, she didn't know about this. That place wasn't far from home, but . . . She hadn't seen her dad in what felt like a long while. What should she do? She wasn't legal, yet, so surely she couldn't decide this on her own . . . Should she wait for her father's return? Perhaps it would take too long for him to come home. Where was he, in any matter?

The letter was pulled out of her hands from above her and she turned around to see Harley reading it. Her face flared a slight red and she glared at him, " Harley, what are you doing in my home? " she hissed.

He looked at the letter and then at her with a smile on her face, " I brought you home, and you asked me to stay. " he replied simply, " How could I say no to a little girl? "

Her face burned, but she stood her ground, " I would never do such a thing! " she protested, her voice slightly high, " You must have somehow weaseled your way in! "

" All accusation and no evidence, " he replied easily, walking towards the kitchen with the letter, " You should check yourself. I brought you home from the hospital after you passed out at the ski resort. "

She watched him disappear into the kitchen, slightly stunned what was he talking about? The ski resort? A hospital? She remembered neither of those things . . . Oh, he must be lying, of course! She wouldn't put it past him to fabricate such lies so easily . . .

" So, what do you think of this Brookridge deal? " he asked as she cautiously made her way into the kitchen where he was grabbing stuff to make them both breakfast, " Seems like a pretty interesting idea. " Her eyes bore into him but he shrugged it off, " You should go shower. I'll have breakfast ready when you're done. "

She forgot what she was wearing and blushed violently - oh, how she hated him! " Sh - shut up! " and she rushed out of the kitchen and stomped up the stairs, " Jerk . . . " she said to herself. Despite her frustrations with her cousin, he was right - she needed a shower. First, she decided to go update Tumblr. It felt like it had been a lifetime since she was last on there. Most of the recent posts were all text posts, and there was one message in her inbox. Upon reading it, she raised an eyebrow; fainted . . . ? Ah, wasn't Harley lying about that? Or was it true . . . ?

Oh, it was very true, Kallisti. That's what you get for not listening to me. Oh, it is you . . . Yeah, it's me. You're caretaker. You worse and better half. Miss me? Ah, well . . . I suppose I did, but only slightly. Go take a shower, love. You've been through a lot.

She decided to listen this time.
