xxxxxxxxxx When Heidi replied with a small answer and a nod, a flash of pain passed over Harley's pale face, gone just as fast as it had appeared. They were mean - this was usually the case, so why was he so surprised? So . . . hurt? A kid like Heidi didn't deserve this, and it was terrible that she had gotten this kind of fate anyway.

" They say hurtful things and try to make me do stuff I don't like. " He looked away from her, almost not being able to bear the agony on her face, the embarrassment, the pain, " Ran away after the train. They thought it was a good idea. Got lost in the woods for the night. " Her voice was quick, nervous, unstable; she was scared that he didn't care? He looked back at her, his eyes warm, but sad, very melancholic, " . . . Made me stop moving and fall asleep. Wanted a tea party, but I ran from them. Laid on the ground for hours, 'til Altair found me. "

Heidi's hand went to her cheek and Harley raised an eyebrow, again. " Altair . . . found me - and at the hospital, too. Helped me . . . all three times. " All three times? She escaped the hospital, three times - with help from Altair, no less. Maybe that guy wasn't so bad as he thought . . .

But what did Harley do? He snapped at her. Upon remembering the event, his face went red and he shot up from his seat on the steps, angry with himself. He began to pace in front of Heidi, letting himself be openly troubled by the fact that he had been so mean to her when she was already having trouble from the voices in her mind. AHG, how could he be anymore of an asshole? What could he do to make it up to her?

Harley looked at Heidi and stopped his incessant pacing in front of her. " Heidi. " he said with a sharp tone, " I'm sorry. " And then he stood her up and hugged her. What in the hell was he thinking, doing? Whatever . . . " You're not alone. I'm sorry for everything, before. I'll take more care in the future, you'll be okay - everything will be okay. "

He placed his hands on her shoulders, " Do you believe me? "

xxxxxxxxxx If anything, Harley was relieved that Heidi wasn't mad at him . . . She accepted his apology, small and nervous, she was, still, but she accepted it, and it made him feel better. He could have adults mad at him, bitchy girls mad at him, buff jocks mad at him, but not people like Heidi, or Anthony. They were just . . . There was something about them, they had a sort of innocence, one that shouldn't be broken.

. . . These kids were gonna be the death of him.

From next to him, there was a slightly shudder in Heidi's body and when he leaned forward, resting both his elbows on his knees and linking them together, he looked at her. Poor girl, looked like she was going to cry. " . . . You . . . You know. " she suddenly said, and he raised his eyebrows, " Don't you? "

For a moment, he wondered what she was talking about, but then when he found that there were people that didn't know much about her, Harley knew what she was referencing, and he sighed. " Yeah, I know. " he replied, " With the scratching and the . . . the constant look of sadness and torture on your face, it wasn't really that hard to figure out. "

It was quiet again, for a moment.

" Are they mean to you? "

xxxxxxxxxx Her answers were short, guarded, nervous. It was obvious that she was hiding something, but Harley didn't know what. She had a short fuse, it seemed, but she was internally fighting to keep anything from getting out of hand. Schizophrenic; he had discerned that she heard voices - now, the only question was, what kind of voices were they? Usually, they were negative, gave the person lesser ideas of themselves, of their worth. Told them things, like to kill, or to harm.

His mind traveled to where she went after she had run of the train. To hide somewhere, because she was scared, frightened, even, by his reaction to what she said? His gaze to the ceiling faltered slightly and he sighed, not looking at her. " I doubt that, Heidi. " he remarked, quietly, " You're lying to me. Look . . . I'm sorry about what happened on the train. I probably . . . shouldn't have said that to you, in such a harsh way. It was bad of me. "

For a moment, he let his words linger between them, and he sighed again, " Kallisti . . . doesn't know that Madeline Moore is dead. She never told me, but she had some romantic feelings for her - somehow, she forgot about Madeline, and I really don't want her remembering. " he explained, " I'm just . . . watching out for her I guess. Still, that doesn't mean that it was right for me to snap at you. I . . . I hope that you'll forgive me. "

xxxxxxxxxx After the way he had . . . threatened her the other day, Harley was surprised that Heidi even replied to him at all. He wasn't exactly sure what to expect, but she was subdued, if not a little depressed. Her voice was small, her body was small, her whole person, even, was small. Harley saw her shake her head, as if she were motioning away someone he couldn't see.

    " . . . Hi, Harley. "

He let out the breath he didn't know he was holding, and visibly relaxed, making his way to sit on the steps next to her on the staircase. " How have you been? " he asked, leaning back and looking up at the ceiling, " I'm guessing not so great. "

xxxxxxxxxx " Go - good morning . . . " came the meek voice from next to him, and brought a smile to his face. He had almost forgotten where he had found to sleep, last night. Such a prestigious academy . . . It was hilarious how he came to be in this situation, but no regrets, it had been enjoyable, for both he, and this small boy whose name he was told not to say. Apparently, he had an appearance to keep up; her parents would flip the fuck out if they knew he was doing this.

Were their many students like him at Brookridge? Harley would have a riot here, if that was the case. Mm, yes, there were people just waiting to be explored, sought out, people waiting to tell him their secrets. " Good morning. " he replied in his usual tone, but calmer and more tranquil. This brought easy to the other boy as he moved in closer to Harley's bare body, " Do you fell better now, Gillian? " he asked.

    " Y - yes . . . " he responded softly, " It's b - been a long time since I've been with anyone like . . . like this. "

Harley shifted any began to play with Gillian's soft brown hair, " I wouldn't get used to it, kiddo. " he declared, gently, " I told you last night, when you found me. "

" I - I know that! " the other blurted out, his face turning red moments later, " Pardon m - me . . . It would be nice to do this again some - some time . . . "

    " Perhaps. "

About an hour later, Harley left Gillian, telling him that they could have lunch together some time, but he couldn't have the kid getting too attached. There were other students that saw him come out of his room and stared, but Harley didn't mind. This way, he was able to observe more of them. Some of the older, stronger-looking boys didn't like Harley, he saw it on their faces, but he could take any of them one-on-one simply because he was smart and more clever.

With a fresh set of clothing that Gillian had snagged from his roommate ( he wondered if they had sex on a regular basis ), Harley set out of the hallway, and out of the dorm building, only to be met by a student. He told Harley that the headmaster had sent him and that he was to guide Harley to his new dorm. His outside reaction was minimal, but in the inside he was boiling with resentment. He wondered if Kallisti shared his fate on dorms, but shrugged when he was led up the stairs and down another hallway.

Lorinda was insistent on them coming here, wasn't she? What did she have in mind? He hadn't talked to Peter in a while, not that he wasn't happy about that, but Peter was his one connection to Lorinda without actually having to face her. There was no person in the world that Harley was afraid of - unless it was his grandmother. She was a force to be reckoned with - or rather . . . not to be reckoned with.

When Harley walked into the room, he found that it was too bright for his tastes, needed some darker decor, but not much. It looked like his roommate wasn't here, but he was glad for that. He didn't really wanna meet the guy, but he couldn't deny he was curious about what kind of person he might be. Probably not worth his time.

On the dresser, near the door, Harley found a note from said roommate. Just by reading it, he could tell this guy was going to be a waste of his time - and what was with his handwriting? He rolled his eyes and tore up the note, placing it in the trash.

His mind was directed to one person; Heidi. Where was she? Was she okay? He hoped her own mind wasn't screwing her up more than normal. Harley found himself leaving the boys' building with finding the girl in mind. He thought of all of the places she might be - and then looked to the main building. There would be students in there, wouldn't Heidi want to be somewhere more secluded? Maybe not, because when he walked in the castle-like stature, there was hardly a soul in sight. He walked past many rooms, down many hallways, and finally came across an out of the way staircase, where the girl was sitting.

She looked bored, if not slightly melancholic, and he sighed. She seemed to be okay . . . " Good afternoon, Heidi, " he called out to her, calmly.

xxxxxxxxxx She wasn't sure when it might have been, but Kallisti had left Olivia's room some time early in the morning. She decided that perhaps a stroll along the grounds of this school would be a nice reprieve from whatever it was that happened last night. This . . . having no knowledge of whether Johnathan was alive or dead as a great bother to her. Harley had not been the one to end his life - if it had, indeed, ended - and she felt content with that. There was, however, the question of if her cousin had actually discovered his location or not. Had he, and spared Johnathan's life? Or was it simply that Harley had not been the one to discover him? Taxing, these thoughts were.

Before she had left Olivia's dorm, she had found that on the next bed, there was a girl - it was the incompetent-looking Lightning Farron. She was Olivia's roommate? How shameful - someone so bright as she gaining . . . a lesser asset. Kallisti hoped, for her new acquaintance's sake, that she would not have to change her room in the slightest. It was very interesting and fit. In her classic script, there had been a letter left for Miss Olivia that she wrote to thank her for her hospitality, and so that the other girl wouldn't worry over her sudden disappearance from her room. Kallisti wondered if she had ever found this friend she had been waiting for.

Not very long after she had set out for her stroll, a student met her and explained that she had been sent from the headmaster to direct Kallisti to her room. At first, extreme reluctance kept her in her place, but the student would not budge, would not go, adamant in their duty to take her to her dorm. Eventually, she had given in. If Lorinda had sent this student . . . it was best for her not to draw any more attention than necessary.

The room was fairly nice, a bit bright for her tastes, and it seemed that her room mate had already come - was it someone from Bellhurst, or someone who already attended the Academy? Kallisti hoped for the former, she did not do well with snobbish, rich children who had their parents buy everything for them instead of work for it themselves. A few bags had been set by her bed, and this, to her, was a sign - she wasn't going home. Lorinda was going to keep her here and torture her.

How awful this was going to be.

xxxxxxxxxx After she had explained the situation to Olivia, the rest of the night was relatively quiet. It still seemed that the girl didn't really believe a word she had said - she was far too amused for it, but once more, Kallisti knew that the events had not touched any of the students at Brookridge. She couldn't help but think them lucky, to have not suffered as she and the others have, to have not . . . seen the loss of life, deal . . . the loss of life . . .

" . . . Lorinda . . . " Kallisti's attention was caught once more at this name, " mm, yess - she is certainly a proactive one for bringing you all here. "

. . . Oh yes, that she most certainly was. She would hardly doubt if Lorinda was, in actuality, Crestatia. Not in the least bit. When Olivia mentioned Harley once more, there was a tone of discontent, slight dislike for him. Kallisti was happy for that. Despite Olivia more than likely being capable of handling herself, she trusted Harley with no one.

Soon, Olivia had gone to take a shower, leaving Kallisti to her own thoughts. She had been left to sleep on this girl's bed, who she had really just met, how strange . . . But she was fond of Olivia so far, the girl had not really proven herself to be incompetent in anyway. She was satisfied with the way she held herself and her mind. When said girl came out of the shower wearing a nightgown, Kallisti marveled at her beauty; she looked more ethereal than she had before, upon originally being seen.

Before Olivia spoke, Kallisti received a text from Harley, saying that he had found a place to sleep and that he hadn't killed Johnathan. She wondered where he was, but relieved that he hadn't found Johnathan. He told her good night, and messaged her no more. It would be strange to sleep in this girl's bed . . . Tomorrow would be the same, but this time, she would have to find out where her dorm was and who her dorm mate was . . .

She'd also have to meet Lorinda - surely the woman would not let her granddaughter attend this academy in peace.

Kallisti shook her head and laid down in Olivia's bed after removing her shoes, jacket and pants, leaving her under shorts ( which were appropriate ) and her shirt. Soon after, she fell asleep.

xxxxxxxxxx Kallisti wouldn't deny the fact that in just a matter of milliseconds her bloodlust had almost completely overtaken her mind. It hadn't been very strong to begin with, but considering this game . . . it would have her go through actions she would rather not complete. Scary, it had been for her that such a vibrant red had been placed before her, and she was entirely ready to chase after it. The inquisition was, though, why Johnathan K. Quincy? Could it have not been any of them, was he simply picked at random? What of him now . . . ? She had never been particularly fond of Johnathan, but she didn't believe that he deserved to die.

While she had valiantly struggled and won with her bloodlust, it seemed that Harley hadn't - they had all the same feeling, to kill Johnathan K. Quincy, and Harley, completely disregarding the life of another human being for . . . whatever reason it was, was not surprising to her in the least. . . . Was he well, though? In a small corner of her mind, she truly hoped so.

In an effort to oppose the sharp and almost-overwhelming feeling, Olivia had quickly suggested they take refuge in her dorm room. Kallisti made no objections and so, from the outside of the Astronomy Tower, the two girls hurried across the grounds to the girls' dorms under the protection of the shadows. It seemed, by the time they reached Olivia's room, the feeling in both girls had withered away, no harm caused by either of them. Kallisti was grateful, Olivia didn't seem like the murderous type - then again, neither did she, but her hands had been spattered with blood at any rate.

She hadn't been expecting Olivia's room to be so . . . refined, so opulent, and the atmosphere reminded her of her own room at home. This was a very well-adorned room, indeed. By the many miscellaneous items placed around, such as boxing gloves and sabers, it appeared that Olivia was truly a sort of renaissance teenager, a prodigy whose intellect had a wide and far spread.

. . . Kallisti wondered if Olivia would have it that way, had she the choice, or if she had been urged for all of this to have come to pass.

When she was offering tea, Kallisti had no complaints and sat down across from her new-found acquaintance, inhaling the fresh scent of the tea leaves. She thought on it for a moment, sweeping in the aroma, and discovered that the leaves were of Darjeeling, a tea she had never really had the pleasure of drinking before. It seemed, she thought to herself, that she and Olivia may get along better than she originally thought.

" I certainly hope you enjoy my humble room, and I apologize for the mess. " . . . This room had a mess to it? " It is a shame Mr. Jackson is unable to join us, however. Do you perhaps happen to know where he may have wandered off to? I am a tad -- how one would say -- worried, for the young man? " A slightly off gleam passed through Kallisti's eyes as she went on. " He certainly . . . gave into his desires very quickly, I must say. "

She quickly scouted out the other girl's face; clearly, she was interested in Harley, and such made Kallisti worry. Harley was a boy not to be trifled with, not to even be thought of. She did not know that, but Kallisti was unsure if she should let on to her cousin's dark behavior or not. " He is . . . certainly a rambunctious one, my cousin. " she began to explain, placing her given cup and saucer in front of herself, " We are very different, you see, despite having the same . . . cogent grandmother. Our parents were very different people. "

After her small explanation, she observed the other glancing over at her laptop, a strange expression on her face. It was soon gone when she turned back to Kallisti, " Until then, I must ask - " This time, she glanced, swifter than the first, back at the open window, " Who is this - John gentleman, we were supposed to murder? "

At the mention of Johnathan, Kallisti's already-pale face paled even more so. Had Harley succeeded in discovering his location, was Mr. Quincy no more? The thought bothered her very much; they had lost so many, already . . . With a realization she looked to Olivia - why had she not seen this before? If she had received the same murderous intent - oh, good god almighty, how could she have not noticed this - then that must have meant she was aware of the e-mail, that she, Olivia, had her name in the e-mail. Internally, Kallisti facepalmed, how ridiculous for her to have not discovered this sooner!

She inhaled a breath, taking in the Darjeeling once more, " I . . . must say, Miss Olivia, I had not the slightest that your name was contained within that . . . e-mail, that you were involved in this. I should have realized it sooner, as in before we had even come to your room. "

" I shall certainly have you know, if this is a strange prank done by the former residence of Bellhurst - " Olivia began with an unusual sharpness that hardly phased Kallisti, and when she waited for the other to finish, she didn't.

Kallisti almost laughed, this girl obviously had no belief in the words of the e-mail, but then again, at the beginning, neither had she, " I do believe that you may want to stick around for a while yet, Miss Olivia, there are many things you have yet to see, as I have these past two weeks. " she explained with a hop in her voice, one of amusement and slight defense, " I can assure you, with an absolute word, that this is no simple tomfoolery. "

She then watched as Olivia picked up the white rose, the red being left in its place, and she looked back at her. Kallisti glanced once more at the red rose and reached for it. She loved roses a very great deal, so much so that there were several rose bushes in her backyard, and some that embellished her room in several places. " It is not in the best interest of our family at Brookridge to be involved in these . . . shenanigans that border on the . . . supernatural. "

Upon hearing this, Kallisti did let out a small laughed filled with amusement, but not at Olivia's expense. She was certainly naive in this situation that they were all in, despite her high standing and education. The blame did not fall on her, but there was a long and thorned road that lay in front of the younger girl, " Once again, I assure you that the students of Bellhurst High School have nothing to do with this 'shenanigan' that 'borders' on the supernatural. No, no . . . This is a very paranormal activity indeed, and it is very real. I am positive that the bloodlust you experienced was just as potent and real as mine. " she explained, rolling the stem of the red rose between her fingers, watching it twirl.

" Now . . . About Mr. Quincy, " she began once more, her tone calmer, but slightly more dire, " He was another name attached to the e-mail, and if you did read as I hope, you will have seen fine print at the bottom that was unreadable. They are more rules which I will be happy to give you a summary of, later. One of them was 'no religion', and Johnathan was a firm believer in the Christian god, a very religious person. I do not know the actual reason for why he may be dead, for he very well might be, be very hesitant in thinking otherwise, but he is a major rule-breaker, and one does not simply break the rules without consequences. " she explained, her face dark and her tone even more so.

" Miss Olivia, rest assured that we are fated to die in less than eighty-four days. "

xxxxxxxxxx Next was the South Bridge - would that even count since it wasn't a building? Harley felt like he needed to hurry, so he set off at a jog and reached the bridge in no time, searching for signs of that little bastard.

After looking around just a bit, he found the very person he had been texting just minutes ago, " Hey, Alli! " he called out with a smile, dark as it might have been considering the circumstances, " I guess great minds think alike, hmm? "

xxxxxxxxxx After a little while of searching the library, Harley had found no God-kisser to kill, so he left the library in search of his victim. He had a feeling, though, that John needed to be killed, otherwise bad things would happen.

To the southeast of the library, there was the boys' dorms ( Harley had a map, thanks ), so he decided to check there, maybe John had gone to his room already?

He walked inside the building which was - like the library - strangely empty, but Harley didn't really care because he was out to kill, not to be a spectator. He walked down the hall and began to open various doors.
