I'll keep a low profile up in this tree, but once you've found stuff, head back here then we can plan what we can do with the stuff you find. Make this quick! I'll stay hidden." Tucker gave his typical thumbs up and climbed the tree he had mentioned. "Stay close together!" Quentin did a mental salute and counted the heads of his three companions. Pierce, Brent, and Stratana. The fourth cabin mate was a girl like Tucker had said. He surprised to find that it was the girl who had her bags taken by the jock at the start of the first day; the memory still made him smile. He started laughing when he saw what she was wearing and barely managed to turned it into a cough. He looked up again to see everyone looking at him. Oops. No one said anything, so after a second's hesitation he made use of the attention and answered Pierce's question. "We split. How do we want to do that?" He laid out a basic map in his head and worked out that they were the further from the center of any group. He wondered what that meant for them, but he didn't think they would be put out here if it put them at a disadvantage. He let himself relax on that account. Quentin liked Tucker's plan. He wanted to do some scouting but wasn't sure who to go with. While he wasn't usually judgmental, competition was getting the better of him. He didn't expect much from either girl. Both seemed extremely fragile and flighty. The red haired boy seemed reluctant to go anywhere, but he would be more reliable in a pinch. I'll take what I can get. He looked them all in eye as he asked and wondered what they were thinking.

I think I know where I'm goin'." He looked around at his campers, "This is the West Woods, so we're pretty much in the deep end. My only job is to not get tagged, and I think I'll be alright so long as I don't use my flashlight too much, but us moving around together isn't the best idea -- makes us easier to find. We're an uneven number, so there's no way to split us into twos, but three and two should be good, yeah?" He looked around again in case anyone might be near, "That'll be me, Elisa, and Richie -- Seb, that leaves you and Shou, 'kay? Play nice now ~ " Bryan brought the group to a stand, and then pointed off where Seb and Shou would go -- east of their current place. "Me, you, and Richie will keep going south. Richie, keep your flashlight on and lead, I'll watch our backs. Doooon't get mauled by bears." He led his group of three to get started, and they began searching around, coming soon upon a large tire swing. He wondered who his fourth bunkmate was and how Tucker had known that it was a girl, but most of his thoughts were on two different girls from a different cabin. He had seen the two girls who stood out from the crowd at dinner the night before and again at breakfast that morning. He spent the duration of his meal times studying them. One of them was pink haired, friendly and outgoing, the other brown haired and unsociable. He went with his instinct and grew more drawn to them the more he studied them. Maybe they -- His thoughts were interrupted by the act of having a flashlight shoved into his hands. The Scavenger Hunt. Right. The jump brought him to the present. He looked for the rest of cabin and moved closer to them. Quentin was in unfamiliar territory, both with the terrain and with the game. But he wasn't going to let that stop him. "So, BESTial Cabin, what's the plan?" he asked. His tone and feeling showed his excitement. Quentin loved games. He was determined to win this one if he could help it.

Fun stuff, he knew he was gonna love it. As he listened to Kevin explain the game, he thought about last night. Secret Time. Last night had gone by in the wind, but he had a bit of an idea for tonight. Since camp was just starting, and they'd be doing Secret Time every night, Bryan had some small white, spiral notebooks with him. He thought it would be a good idea to let his kiddos keep track of the secrets they told, numbering off the days. He had one for himself, too, but it was a dark green color, his name written on the cover in silver Sharpie. Day One's entry had been simple, a simple secret that he had never told anyone but Noëlle: I am scared of butterflies. But that was when he had been little. The fear had died down into a minor uncomfortable itch. It was pretty much something he had kept to himself because, c'mon -- butterflies? Really? They're supposed to bring joy, comfort, et cetera. Why be scared of them?! He was usually afraid people were gonna ridicule him. He didn't like that . . . Bryan sighed and continued to listen to Kevin's explanation until it finally came to a close. Before everyone got swept away in the activity, he looked around for his sister, wanting to make sure she was getting along with her cabin mates. Looking over the others ( most of who were shorter ), he found pale skin and short, brown hair blocking his way. For a second, the wall of girl looked to her side and he found that it was Sophie. Wow. She was pretty -- -- Oh, neat! Sophie was in Noëlle's cabin! He sure hoped they were getting along! Before he could wave to his sister, he was tugged on to get going, so he turned back to his group, clasping his hands together, "Alright kiddos, looks like y'all are my new body guards!" he announced to them with a bright smile, "We're gonna go look for treasure on our latest expedition -- I know that sounds kind of lame, but buck up, we're here to be a bit lame in the face of the public!" He looked around for his fellow counselors, "Good luck Tucker, good luck, Erik, Sam!" Telling his campers to make a chain of their hands, Bryan grabbed onto Elisa. He weaved them through the Circle that was quickly thinning out, "Alright, keep your flashlights on you and stay close -- don't get lost, and don't let me get tagged ~ !"

She thought that she might have picked the right bunch, and she was quite proud of it. The most perfect thing of it was, there was no way this could be traced back to her . . . That, she had made absolute sure of. Was it a rumor? Was it truth? Ahaha. Whatever it was, Sophie wanted to make a sarcastic comment about retrieving her phone and calling the police. She had thought about several things to say to the others, last night. Mostly lies, because what business was it of theirs what her secrets were? Miniscule things worked, too, but secrets were secrets. Maybe tonight. They were all relatively boring people, those in her cabin, but she saw some potential for fun. After breakfast, Sophie had retreated to her bunk, making another paper crane and then diving into her miniature black notebook, ignoring her composition notebook for now. Whenever she had some peace, then she'd work on some new songs, but for now, she had to update her list. ☁ ☁ ☁ After some blur ( this felt like it was happening all too often, recently ), Sophie found herself standing next to her cabin mates with Kevin about to begin explaining the Scavenger Hunt. In the background, she was pleased to hear people still talking about what she had heard. She wondered if the source found out yet. The outcome wasn't exactly her problem, but she was curious to see what would happen. Ask me no questions and I'll tell you no lies. She recognized the girl, the tall one, who had just . . . popped up in their cabin last night with Noëlle. Alice. Sophie hadn't interacted with her a single bit, only a nod of acknowledgement, but other than that, she seemed to be someone boring who Sophie couldn't get much use out of. ". . . your mission is to protect your counselor and gather what you find for your group. Anything you find can be kept until the end of camp." Sophie listened as the rules of the hunt seemed to . . . drag on. She looked around the Circle to see any other familiar faces, and across the way was a glaring girl, about a year or so younger than Sophie. Sitting next to her was a male twin, who seemed to look away when she trailed over to him. ". . . distributed, please take attendance and get ready to start. The last team standing will get a very special surprise! Good luck!" She snapped out of it and was handed her flashlight. The twins were gone. She breathed out and rolled her eyes. Standing to face her group, "Alright, we've all played this game before, and if I recall correctly, we're all fairly decent at it. There are several things we could do to keep Sammy here safe, but I think a five-point guard will do us good -- eyes from all sides." she explained quickly, "I assume you'll be staying with us Alice, for the time of the hunt, so I hope you don't mind helping out? If you hear anything, keep your eyes peeled, please don't panic, and use your flashlight. Don't have too many on at one time, and . . . watch your backs, mm?" This way, they would all have access to throwing themselves into 'harm's' way in case they ran into any taggers. "I'll take point?" she offered with a sly smile, "Shall we, then?" Carefully, Sophie began to lead the way into the dark forest.

She smiled. "Yes, I did. It's always nice to see Bryan." she replied. Sophie smiled more. I bet it is. "I'll give them back sometimes, so long as no one else knows." Oh, neat. She wouldn't have to be a bad little camper. Only Sammy would have to be a bad little camp counselor. Ahaha. Better her than Sophie. Of course, she wasn't one to be a tattletale, so she'd keep it to herself. "We'll go now and the others can just catch up." Of course they can. As the group walked, Sophie hummed to herself, thinking of all the things she could say to the others. How many stories and ties could she weave this year? It was always a challenge. Not like her first year at camp though, all those years ago. A meek little Sophie, used by the older kids as a scapegoat. They had all certainly regretted that the next year, hadn't they? Ahaha. They entered the dining hall and Sophie found a seat, waiting for food call.

He wasn't too worried about her since she was a little social butterfly, and it was hard to not like her outgoing personality. She'd be fine -- and they would see each other soon. Doing a little shading here and there, Bryan wondered if she had heard about that thing, that . . . 'love potion'. What was it called again? Something having to do with Eros. No, no, not Eros. Uh. Cupid! Right, Cupid. Cupid's brew, that's what it was called. It sounded kind of neat, but it definitely wasn't anything that he was interested in. A love potion? Why use something like that when you could really get a person to fall in love with you for who you were? He glanced over at a Elisa as he did her eyes. After putting down his graphite pencil and cleaning his hands from the charcoal smudges, Bryan stood from his chair. "Alright guys, we should head out to the dining hall, it's almost 5:30, and I've got a clean record. Can't be messing it up by being late!" His stomach growled, and he laughed with a little bit of embarrassment, "Err, yeah, let's get going." Bryan walked out of the cabin, taking in the warm sun and waited a moment for the others to follow before continuing through the grounds.

I don't have to have to make anyone sleep outside." he explained with a cheeky smile. Seb, Bryan thought, could be a little depressing to be around sometimes because he wasn't too social, but Bryan could put up with that. And sharing a cabin with him . . . who knew! Maybe Seb would change his attitude by the end of the summer. Upon hearing footsteps come to the cabin, Bryan looked at the door and saw the silhouette of a girl taking something off of her face. The door opened and a thin girl stepped in. Bryan smiled at the girl. "Hello. I - I'm Elisa." she said with a smile, sounding a little nerve-wracked. "Hey, welcome to Cabin E, Elisa," Bryan said cheerfully, and then thought, "Heeeey, 'E' for 'Elisa'!" It wasn't all that funny, but he did want to make her feel better. She was pretty, he thought to himself. "No need to be so shy, we're not gonna bite. Grab any bunk you want, we're waiting for our last camper and then we'll head down to the mess hall, 'kay?" Bryan hadn't even noticed that the door opened again, "Dibs on a top bunk," and he peered around to see a boy with goggles, shorter than himself shoving his bag onto a top bunk. Bryan visibly frowned. "The name's Shouta." he said with a grin, "Call me Shou." Asian, huh? "Nice to meet you, Shouta, this is Sebastian, Elisa, and Kory," he said motioning to the boy and the other two girls. "Play nice, now." He peered down at his watch. "We'll be heading out for dinner soon, but before that, I'm gonna need you guys to fork over all your electronics. I know, the horrooooor, I hated it, too. But you'll be fine without them for the day." Bryan knew what it was like to be without communication and electronics, so he had a secret little side plan to give them back to the campers before they went to bed, and then take them back in the morning. He walked around the room with a Tupperware box and had all phones, music players, cameras and et cetera dumped in. "They'll be perfectly safe, don't worry!" When all was collected and done, he capped the box and slid it under the bottom of his bunk. "Now, we wait." And he returned to his makeshift desk in the corner to continue his drawing. It was great because now he had subjects to draw instead of just objects. After flipping away from the scenery he had drawn of the cabin, he began to sketch up something new while waiting.

As she mindfully watched Samantha move around with sticky notes and a Sharpie, writing names and placing them on the wooden boarding of the bunks. When hers was placed, she laughed and grabbed it off, swiftly folding it into a paper crane, "Don't worry Sammy, you'll never have to remember my name." she told her with a wry smile and a certain glint in her eye. Samantha was, so far, pretty boring and Sophie rolled over on her back to look at the ceiling. In the corner of her bunk sat one of her carrying bags. At the bottom of that back was a delicate vial with something very delicate and interesting in it. Cupid's Brew -- or so it is called . . . Such an innocent name for something so sought after. There had been a few people she had thought of, but no one really stuck out, yet. She knew many people -- she was used to knowing many people, used to messing with more than one of them at a time. Ahaha. The effects/affects were what she was most curious about. It was the most honest reason she could give. The door opened and a rush of slightly too-warm air breezed in. A shine of pink hair later and Sophie was looking over the edge of her bed to see Noëlle. Oh, this was more perfect than she could have planned. "Heeeey, everyone." Silly, the way she had said that -- as if they'd been lifelong friends of the not-so-close kind. "Bonjour," she murmured, looking at the girl with pink hair. Should she start now or wait until later? Probably wait. Sophie wasn't one to rush into things. "Wonder who else we'll be sharing with . . ." and then she muttered something to herself in French. "Did you have a nice reunion with your brother?" she asked with a smile, rolling onto her back, "Also, when is dinner?" "It has to suck, but the rule is to fork over all phones, music players, and so on. If you have anything too big to fit just set it on my bed." Sophie frowned at this. Last year, she hadn't handed her stuff over -- the cabin leader had been intimidated by her, hadn't even attempted to tell on her, and it was amusing to watch him squirm under her thumb, but Samantha . . . She sighed dramatically and rummaged through her bag for her iPhone and headphones. Maybe she would sneak them away in the night to fall asleep to Bach, or something. She dropped them into the ziplock bag. ". . . dinning hall, since it should be opening soon." Sophie wasn't very hungry, come to think about it.

Chill out with that attitude? Hah! Quentin was hungry after the long ride, but he could wait half an hour. Oh, the nickname . . . The BEST cabin? I'll add -ial to the end, or something. It was as good a name as any, but Quentin would have liked something with more flash, more dramatic. He stayed focused on the counselor's animated expression; Tucker's energy was contagious. Quentin smiled back at him wryly. Sam and Pierce were gender ambiguous names, but he figured out which was which by their reactions. The boy was named Sam and the girl was named Pierce. He couldn't tell what the girl played, but the boy had a guitar. This fact was less interesting than his drawing, but he would get to know them before dismissing them completely. He could engage them later. He brought his mind back to their counselor. "Do I give you my electronics?" He started to turn to grab his player whan a thought occurred to him. "How did you know our names?" Quentin didn't remember giving a photo with his application. He wondered if the cards were rigged. His expression was still one of quizzical amusement. He finished getting his player. He leaned forward, put his elbows on his knees and waited for a reply.

He was attentive now at the Camp Circle where he stood chewing on a marshmallow and watching the excited crowd. Nobody seemed to notice him here or there, but that was alright. He had been busy with a drawing that he'd later turn into a painting; unfinished products got priority. Being last off the bus, he saw a jock type guy play a prissy redhead for a fool while he made off with her bags. Quentin had smiled at that display, but nothing else interested him just yet. One thing you have to say about redheads, they definitely stand out. He kept an eye out and twirled a pencil between his thumb and index finger while he waited to be told what to do. Unlike the girl, he was travelling lightly; his MP3 player, a sketchbook, his lute, and camping supplies were his only companions. Plus one vial of dubious quality . . . We can't forget that. It had only been two weeks since he'd heard about the camp, but he had to admit, he was excited for it. He had researched it thoroughly; this camp was famous for hosting a variety of wild personalities, and more importantly, many people who came here went away with someone having stolen their heart if not virginity. Looking at the crowd of restless kids, he could see that it would be the perfect place to test out this potion. Cupid's Brew. An innocuous name for something so hard to come by. He didn't have anyone in particular in mind -- in fact he didn't know anyone yet, but he was used to that. It would be used during his stay, he just didn't know when. Having reached a decision, he pushed it from his mind and answered the call to grab a card and go to a cabin. His mind's eyes brightened as the speaker explained about camp events. He carried his small backpack and lute case with him to the spot. When he noticed what he was doing, Quentin took his headset off at the last second and tried to hide it. The music flowed with his mood so he had forgotten about it. Now that he thought about it, he was scared of having his player stolen. At least it's cheap. And better off with the counselors than hidden in a cabin. He pulled out a card, spun back with dance in his step and read it aloud for effect. "B, eh? I should think of a nickname for it . . ." He glanced at the crowd to see if anyone reacted to his behavior. One or two female eyes sparkled in his direction that stood out from the rest. He got a clear look at their faces and then turned away. Cabin time! Even as tuckered out as he was, he was eager to meet his bunkmates and get some time to finish his drawing. He arrived to find two of his bunkmates already settled. Neither of them caught his eye, but Quentin nodded to them and took a bottom bunk in the far corner. He turned to them after setting his things down and addressed them. "Salve."

She couldn't have gotten much more pleasure out of that than she had. "Please, I beg of you to say something," she asked them, a genuine smile plastered on her creamy face, lighting up her white-blue eyes. When no reply was made to her, she laughed at them and walked towards Kevin to get her cabin set. She hoped they were people worth messing with. Cabin C. After making her way away from the Circle, she smiled in passing at Bryan and Noëlle , two siblings who she had encounter in her previous stays at the camp. She greeted the both of them, but didn't stay to chat. She could play on Noëlle later, maybe. Half of her hoped that she would be the first person to the cabin, but then she saw Samantha, and sighed. She looked tired. Sophie smiled. "Good day, Samantha," she said, immediately claiming one of the top bunks and climbing up the ladder to lay belly-flat on the bed, "Seems I will be in your cabin. When the marshmallows were tossed out, Bryan actually caught a few of them with a laugh and then passed them to any campers who didn't get some, mostly the newer kids who were way nervous about their first summer here. When Kevin came down from the stage, passing around what would have their cabin campers on it, Bryan wondered if he would share with anyone he . . . "Here you are, kiddo," Kevin told him with a grin, "Good luck!" He looked down at the note. Cabin E with . . . Ah. He recognized all of these names. He smiled at the first one. Well, then it was time to get going! Bryan didn't wait to find his campers, but he headed out to Cabin E to be ready to greet them. Before he left out, he stopped by Noëlle, "Hey little sis," he said with a smile, grabbing her by the hand and swinging her into a hug, "Are you excited for this summer?" he asked her, setting her down, and then stayed to talk for a bit. "It sucks that you're not in my cabin -- I was kind of hoping for that! I guess we'll see each other during activities, though." After talking to her for a few minutes, Bryan bid his sister goodbye with a kiss on the forehead and began to head off. Deciding to jog, Bryan was to his cabin in no time, setting his stuff down that he brought to the Camp Circle, and sat in a chair, popping one of the three marshmallows that he had. He smiled brightly at the thought of being a counselor.
