It's already being anticipated that California will no longer be as we see it on the map today within the next hundred or so years. The fault line there continues to show signs of deterioration and will eventually just split.
The odds of it becoming a mass-death kind of thing are just astronomical though. In most cases the microbes that manage to enter our bodies are destroyed by our immune systems. It may make people think about where they like to swim, but really this is a freak accident determined by heavy odds.

Okay but you're still hung up on a black and white view of the possibility of a gay gene. It isn't simply a matter of dominance or recession, it could simply be the effects and interactions of hundreds of genes that simply code for different proteins that in turn facilitate a change in some form of thought structure. Keep in mind we've only learned to understand DNA and the workings of the brain in the last century. That's not a lot of time to determine anything. Also male enhancement pills like Viagra don't stimulate adrenaline. Blood flow is increased but not in terms of a flight or fight response. It's an entirely different hormone altogether that allows blood to flow into the ***** and produce an erection. As for hormones acting within the brain, the only one that is able to act in the brain is adrenaline, because it is able to act as both a hormone and chemical neurotransmitter. Any other hormone like testosterone or estrogen are too large in size to diffuse directly into the brain. the only things that enter under normal circumstances are suger and oxygen. At most any chemicals produced in the body naturally only affect the most primitive of brain structures, the most prominent being the hypothalamus which in turn elicits a number of responses in the body (i.e. the production of testosterone in the testes). Other than that neurotransmitters and the general operations responsible for producing behaviour in the brain, are produced in the brain, recycled in the brain, and maintained in the brain. Again though, even if sexual orientation was determined by an imbalance in a certain hormone it would still be traced back to a faulty gene responsible for controlling the production, releasing, and amount of said hormone in the body.
We're a very material species. We enjoy going beyond simple necessities simply because we have evolved to enjoy it. It's not something that's difficult to make peace with. What really gets to you is the fact that money is really just worthless paper and that it's value depends on how much is produced and how much is returning.
That's funny, I don't recall anyone who has survived/ is surviving with testicular or ovarian cancer showing a change in sexual preference. Hormonal imbalances affect topical behaviours at best (i.e. correlations between high levels of testosterone and aggression) , and aside from the physiological characteristics they bring about with regards to sexual traits that's as far as it goes. Neither one affects consciousness or complex behaviour.
I still maintain that as of now we can not be certain if such a thing exists. The human genome project just began at the peak of the last of the last century, so who is to say that such a thing could not exist simply because we haven't found it yet. Yes sexual orientation and gender have a great deal of roots in the way we react and interact with our environment, but to be honest nature is still building its defense against nurture in the whole debate.
The world simply is not a fair place. When you realize that you transcend the entire issue altogether.

Interesting how America is quite the multi-cultural country though. Granted it's not as multi-cultural as Canada, but it's still pretty multi-cultural. With that in mind racism wouldn't apply. A proper interpretation of that statement would be to have it refer to American/ north American culture-- everything is large and luxurious.
