Riku never submits to the darkness, he has only been seen to use it as a means to an end. Everything went awry when Xehanort's heartless was thrown into the mix. There are a lot of implicit aspects of the darkness that no one really picks up on. Like Cloud, for example, who like Riku used the darkness as a means to an end, had a black wing.
Batman would EMP the playboy and leave him helpless. Ironman only wins as Tony Stark because he gets more women. Besides universe crossovers don't always mesh well.
