"I mean..." The fact that he needed to explain his sister's words meant that Cal had probably not caught on to what Anna had said. So instead, Soren shook his head to drop the subject so he would not have to dig himself further into a hole. "Um..." Soren scratched the back of his head as he wondered what they would do. He was not in the mood to play today but he was more curious about the places Cal had seen and what secrets this place held. "Can you show us something..." What was the word for it? He had already forgotten.

"Someplace cool." Anna finished his sentence.

Soren nodded quickly. "Yeah. I wanna explore." And unfortunately, this was all the time Arch had to type out because he was leaving for work. Naturally, Soren blamed Alice for this.

    Thunder Surge.

Well, since I can't leave a two word response, I'll add in Terra's Chaos Blade. It's better than Sonic Blade in every way. Well, it's slower but that doesn't really matter considering that I think it has a high number of invincibility frames. I don't remember ever taking damage while using it. It deals more hits, is stronger, and has a chance to bind enemies. Plus it looks ridiculously cool with all the teleporting.

Soren turned away from his sister when Cal brought up something about cool hiding places. Even though he did not want to admit it, that got his interest. "Really?" He asked curiously. Soren was just about to ask what kind of places Cal was talking about when Alistair walked in with a baby. His eyes narrowed at the man before shifting over towards the small child. He had no idea that they would be getting someone new.

    "Baby." Anna spoke up.

    "We can see that."

Though he was curious as to what its name was, Soren was not willing to go over to it while Alistair was still around. He didn't want to go look at the baby nor did he want to stay in the same room as that man. Besides, he was not so fond of babies. They looked weird. Soren reached for Cal's arm and tugged on it, wanting to leave. "Come on," Soren whispered. Anna took the hint and walked outside of the room without a word to wait for the two. "Sorry about my sister. She gets ahead of herself sometimes." He muttered lowly, referring to Anna's earlier pestering and insistence of a certain something. There were times when Soren thought she was the smartest one between them but not when she started saying things like that. She would even say that picking on someone meant that they liked that someone. What a silly thing to say. He didn't pick on Anna and he liked her just fine.

Soren blinked several times at Cal's reaction to his "niceness". He never knew she could react like that. He scratched the back of his head before he tugged at the covers she was using to hide her embarrassment. "You just said they need us. That's the only reason we're here." Soren lowered his head and sighed. "They don't actually care about us..." He pressed his hands down on the bed and hunched over as he stared blankly at the sheets on Cal's bed. The boy chewed on his lower lip as he thought over what was the point in even running. He hated the adults here and there was no reason why anyone would be any better outside.

Soren looked back up at Cal and sat down beside her without any invitation. "We have to stick together." He smiled faintly and glanced over at his sister who nodded silently in approval. Soren believed they could only rely on each other and no one else. "I-I'm..." He wanted to say he was sorry for having kept the girl at a distance from himself and his sister but words were not something he was good with.

Just as Soren was trying to find what he wanted to say Anna pushed herself off of her bed and walked over towards the two, stopping beside her brother. She looked at him, shaking her head, before turning towards Cal. "He says he's sorry for being a jerk."

    "Yeah...that..."

"And he wants you to play with us."

"You're the only one who wants to play..."

    "I bet he likes y-"

"Sh!" Soren frowned at his sister. The one time she spoke up, she said too much.

Soren leaned back when Cal finally sat up and responded in a tired fashion. He began to regret waking her up so early as it would not help his case if she was already in a bad mood. He looked over towards his sister as if to ask for advice but Anna merely blinked at him before motioning for him to turn around. 'Thanks a lot, sis. On my own I guess.' Soren scratched the back of his head as he tried to piece together what he wanted to say.

"No, nothing happened." Soren spoke quietly. "I know we're not exactly friends...but...Why are you friendly with the adults?" They both had to know that their real parents were not around yet Cal continued to call Lu "Momma". Soren stared at Cal and folded his arms across his chest. "They're not good. They would kill us if we got in their way." He hoped that Cal would agree and that maybe, just maybe, she was only pretending to be nice to the grown ups so she could get away from this place. They couldn't be fighting each other if they wanted out and with how he had been acting towards her, he knew he hadn't made it easy for her to get along with him. As he once told Anna, it was hard to be nice when he was so angry all the time.

"Um..." Soren refrained from looking over towards his sister for more advice. If he wanted to get along with Cal, he had to at least say something nice. He found that he was taking too long to speak again so, without much thought as to what he would say, Soren blurted out the first nice thing that came to mind(which wasn't easy), "You have nice hair."

    And Anna facepalmed so hard.

Henrik fell to his right knee and before he could recover Nakah's icy blade pierced his left leg and ran all the through before digging into the ground, pinning him. He gripped the hilt of the sword, trying to pry its tip from the ground so he could begin to remove it from his leg but the blade would not budge. His blood ran down along its edge. The pain coursing through his leg was nothing compared to his wounded pride. Not once had he defeated this man and here he was again at his mercy. Henrik growled, gripping Nakah's blade as he struggled to free himself but the only thing that managed was cutting his own hand on its edge.

    "Alright. That's enough."

Dark mist rose up from the ground, solidifying as thick chains around one of Henrik's arms. "Why do you keep trying to kill me? You've already died! Years ago."

"Lei will not allow both of us to challenge him. It's a headache having so many consciousnesses to keep under his thumb."

Once more the man spoke as if he was real, as if his spirit had somehow found its place in Henrik and Lei was just pitting them against each other to get rid of the extra baggage. "Why hasn't he killed you himself then? Or me for that matter?" Henrik pulled at Nakah once more with his free hand, wincing when the blade budged less than an inch. It had cut right into the bone.

"Have you ever considered that he can't?" The man crouched in front of Henrik and looked him in the eye."He killed my family and he'll kill yours too. I'm stronger than you. I can hold him off better than you can. Isn't that reason enough to relinquish your body?"

Henrik remained silent and lowered his head. His free hand clenched into a fist, squeezing blood out of the cut on his palm.

"Then I must kill you. I'm done trying to convince you. You're finished."

"Not even close." Henrik smirked as he opened his hand, directing his bloody palm towards the man. A drop of blood began to roll off the tip of one of his fingers and as it made its descent it stopped in midair without ever having touched the ground. With enough speed, a jet of water can cut through steel. The density of blood just a little higher, but Henrik had a good enough idea of what it could do to flesh while traveling several hundredsof miles per hour. A spray of Henrik's own blood accelerated instantaneously at the man, punching holes through his body. Henrik's predecessor fell over onto his back, clutching his chest.

"Your own blood?" He chuckled as he struggled to sit back up despite his injuries. "I'll give you credit for creativity." After a moment the man began to stand up once more despite the largest of the holes that was punched through him was wide enough that Henrik could clearly see through it. "Good. That smug look of yours is gone."

Henrik gritted his teeth and yanked on Nakah, tearing it out of his leg before using it to cut off the chains of mist. He hastily swung sword down to finish the man off only to be stopped a hair's breadth from the man's face. He had stopped the blade but just barely as he seemed to be slowing down from his injuries. Henrik pushed down on the sword, trying to overpower him but despite everything Henrik could feel the man's strength begin to overwhelm him once more. Henrik took a step back, losing his ground. The man grinned. 'No! God dammit! I had him! STAY DOWN!'

Henrik's arms began to shake he he struggled just to hold onto Nakah. Then it hit him. He had more than just one weapon to rely on. Henrik released his hold on Nakah suddenly, putting the man off balance. Before his own sword could be used against him, Henrik drove the knife right into his enemy's heart. The obsidian knife.
The two looked at each other knowing what this meant. The man fell to his knees, his eyes fixed on Henrik. He opened his mouth to speak his last words and...disappeared into a black mist without ever having spoken.

"Good riddance." Lei drew back Nakah, its tip having been in the exact spot of the man's head just an instant earlier. "Looks like you're the winner, Henrik. I never doubted you had it in you to kill another man desperate for revenge. Here's your prize." Lei snapped his fingers.

Henrik pushed himself out of bed and rubbed his eyes. His leg was sore but when he checked it there was no visible wound from last night. He checked the time and raised an eyebrow. This had been the earliest he had woken up in some time. As Iris and probably the others were still asleep, Henrik decided to head outside and check up on the stolen car he had sloppily parked when they arrived at the hotel. No one else seemed to be outside so rather than get in and move the car he chose an alternative way to fix the poor parking job he had done. The last time he tried using telekinesis to move a car he had failed. But that was days before he had even joined this group. So once more, Henrik tried again.

Soren was the first to wake up. The boy sat up and rubbed his eyes before patting his hand against the hard bed. To him, it was comfortable as he had never known another bed, and every day the bed seemed to be getting smaller. Well, that wasn't true. Every day he was simply getting bigger. Anna wanted him to stop taking notice of that considering it was the norm but he just couldn't help it.

Seeing as how yesterday Cal gave him attitude...for giving attitude to Alice, he decided to go over and talk to her. He went over to the girl's bed and nudged her on the shoulder. They were supposed to be on the same team weren't they? They were both nephilim after all. Maybe Cal was angry because he and Anna never tried being nice to her? She was weird after all... "Hey. Cal. Wake up." He nudged her again.

Soren's voice served to wake up Anna who sat up in her bed and stared silently at her brother who already seemed willing to stir up more trouble. Anna frowned and watched as he disturbed Cal's sleep.

"I told you, I don't want to play."

The raven-haired girl frowned and sat down, crossing her legs in front of her brother as she stared up at him. Soren sighed and knelt beside Anna, placing a hand on the girl's shoulder. "We can do something later but it's my job," He pointed towards himself as if to show some kind of authority, "to take care of you." He was the older brother, even if it was just by minutes, so he knew he was responsible for his sister. Anna continued to stare up at him with her bright curious eyes without saying a single word.

Soren shook his head towards her. "I know, I know...but..." He lowered his voice, "We can't leave yet." He faked a smile for his sister to assure her that it would be alright but it only caused her to frown even more at him. Soren gave up trying to get through to her and sat down in front of her, his eyes shifting towards the other children. They were weird. He didn't like them. Anna on the other hand seemed to be indifferent towards everyone save for himself. Soren hated this place and he especially hated that lady, "Momma Lu". He wanted to hit her...like...really hard. Including that guy Alice who had the nerve to think he could teach them anything. Soren narrowed his eyes towards the other kid, there was a fourth who had left to go somewhere, wondering why no one never spoke out against the grown ups. Were they afraid? Maybe it's because they were younger. At least, he thought they were younger. Soren was the tallest of the bunch so he thought that must have meant he was the oldest and strongest. They were getting stronger every day too... Maybe soon it would be enough to get away from everyone. Anna tilted her head at him. He knew that she was asking "where" they would run to. He didn't know, but he couldn't stand this place.

"Yo, hope you all don't mind my little entrance"

Soren immediately turned his head towards the voice, seeing Alice at the door. Without any thought, Soren spoke up. "Go away."

Gardner tapped his fingers impatiently against the wheel of his car as he stared at the turn signal of the vehicle in front of him. "Come onnnn. What are you waiting for?" His hand hovered over the horn and the instant before he pressed down on it the car in front of him finally turned and got out of the way. He let out a sigh of relief and he pressed down on the pedal and rested his left arm against the frame of the door, his eyes shifting down towards the speedometer every now and then. The snow on the road kept him from going the speed limit. He couldn't risk spinning out of control and wasting more time out on the road. Not when he finally got his hands on a copy of Etiam.

The more he thought about it, the more he wondered why he was so impatient to get to play the game. He had gotten the opportunity to beta test the game two months ago for well over a week. Then again, maybe that had only made him more eager to play the final version. His friend knew a guy, who knew a guy, who knew a guy's cousin...Well, long story short, Gardner had gotten a free pass to beta test Etiam. Sadly, a lot of the content was locked and he had been stuck playing a generic Hume Soldier whose equipment couldn't be changed. The only choice he was offered was the gender of his avatar. Still, from what he experienced, it was glorious. Under his jacket he had even been wearing an exclusive shirt the company had given him for taking part in the beta. It was a little itchy but he couldn't really complain. It was free after all.

The breaks of his truck squeaked, reminding him that they needed to be changed, as he arrived home and parked. He stepped out of the car and quickly ran to the front door, nearly slipping on his way inside. The door slammed behind him leaving Gardner to try and warm his hands up as he rubbed them together before he pulled his scarf off and hastily tossed it aside. He picked up his copy of the game and placed it into the console without wasting any time. ...And then the installs came. Thankfully, having the PS4 master race console, allowed him to boot up the game even when it had not finished installing Etiam's data. Unfortunately, the installation that was done with the beta was not compatible with the final version of the game so none of his progress carried over but at least he got to keep his username.

Eventually, the familiar intro came to play.

    "Hello, young soul."

"Yo, Outsider. Long time, no see."

"You are being reborn into a new world...the world of Etiam. It is a world in mayhem, but you are fearless. Why are you fearless? Because you are born from the souls of the saviors of Etiam. Are you confused? No worry; all shall be revealed soon. However, before your new birth, I suggest you tell me about yourself -about the current soul that you think you are."

He was hardly afraid of anyone looking at his profile so he filled out everything as truthfully as possible without giving away details that were too personal. Same stuff as he did the last time he came to this menu. The username slot was already filled in with the title "DarkSun". It wasn't exactly original, but it was the first thing that came to mind. Gardner decided to keep it in case he got any bonus stuff in the game for having played the beta. Probably not, but he couldn't be too sure.

"Hmm. How strange. Your world is so different from mine...You'll see soon enough. Now, it is time to meet your compatriots; new souls just like yourself!"

The effects of the "souls" and even Outsider were far different from what he last experienced. It was almost too real. As if he could reach in and get sucked right into the screen. He blinked and sat back in his chair. "Whoa." Was all he could say.

"You will be a part of this world," the skeleton spoke, its lipless mouth matching the syllables perfectly, "But I am not. I am merely an Outsider. An Outsider Looking In." The letters "OLI" appeared over the skeleton in red. "An outsider...and your teacher. I will grant you form in this new world...but only if you are ready. Are you ready?"

He nodded as if the game would be able to understand that as a command. Gardner moved the cursor over the "Yes" option and smirked. Finally all the waiting had come to an end. He took in a deep breath and gripped his controller a bit tighter. "Too bad there isn't a third option. 'Hell yeah, let's do this' seems like it would have fit." He laughed before saying, "Hell yeah."

Henrik stretched his arms out as he exited the packed car. He had patient long enough. While Brandon left to find another car Henrik pulled his phone out, which had survived the whole "Lost" scenario.

"If it wasn't broken, why didn't you use that when you were stranded?"

"It's durable, that doesn't mean I get signal everywhere." Henrik turned towards Iris who was giving him a look of disapproval. "I know what you're thinking. But we're not waiting around for a boy to take his time to hotwire a car." He moved over towards another car that was parked out in the open. Doing that kind of work out in broad daylight was a sure way to get caught but luckily Henrik did not need to resort to such methods. As much as he disliked the thought of stealing, they did not really have any other choice and Henrik preferred not waiting around for someone else to do it. With a few presses on the screen of his phone, the car he was standing in front of unlocked and started its engine.

"You told me you got rid of that...app."

"I said I wouldn't use it. But things have changed." Public paranoia said that new cars had a special number that could be dialed to access their onboard computers making it easy for hackers to steal vehicles. For once, the public was actually right about something. Of course, having the ability to access any car was something only specialists had the tech for...and people like Henrik. "I'm not cramming into another car with a bunch of-" He stopped himself from finishing that sentence. He couldn't say that those were people he wanted to kill. Admitting it out loud would only mean Lei had already won.

Why did you list Cinco de Mayo? That's not relevant to the US. It's not even relevant to Mexico considering they got their asses handed to them after that battle by the French. It's not significant to anyone. Just people who believe that Cinco de Mayo is Mexico's independence day(which it's not). For some strange reason, there are people who celebrate it here in the US though...I don't know why. It'd be like someone here in the US(or in Canada) celebrating Canada Day.

Anyways, we don't get Veteran's Day off over here. At least not in colleges/universities. You don't need to have a day off to call something a holiday. It just needs to be a time of year that is nationally(globally?) recognized.

"Of all the methods I could have used to train you, why do you believe I chose this one?"

Henrik pushed himself back up to his feet and touched his hand to his cheek, pulling it away to stare at the red stain on his palm. His eyes flicked from Lei towards the man standing in front of him. The same one Lei had killed through possession in another life. Whether or not the man's spirit was really trapped here in this "world" or if he was just an illusion was irrelevant. All the same, the man wanted Henrik dead. "Because you have a poor sense of humor." Henrik muttered.

"I can send wave after wave of nightmarish creatures for you to slaughter, I can threaten Iris or that Kalia girl all I want, I can even put you through puzzles no human has ever dreamed of and yet this would not help you understand."

"Are you saying everything you've ever put me through is tough love?" Henrik motioned with his index finger to call Nakah back to his hand from its place on the ground.

"Power does not equal strength. The only way you can understand is if I put you up against someone with real power." Lei chuckled. "Of course, this would be more interesting if he was still alive. ...Okay, not really. He outclasses you and your little gang of phonies."

Henrik tightened his grip on Nakah and took a deep breath. What more was there to "understand"? The man was stronger than he was and more experienced. This time, as Henrik charged at the man things would be different. Nakah switched shifted into an axe, a form he had not tried using until now. The man immediately swung his own sword in an arc to cut at Henrik's side. With how recklessly Henrik had run towards the man, he should have been struck down. Even now he should have been unable to dodge such an attack, but Henrik did not need to be fast enough to do so.

The sword cut into the air as it harmlessly sailed by with Henrik already having cleared the blade's path. He swung the axe right at the man's back expecting to hear the sound of flesh tearing only to have it phase right through his opponent. The edge of a blade touched the back of his neck. Henrik growled in anger. He turned around and smacked the sword away with his hand. The fight was over and upon this revelation the man vanished leaving Henrik and Lei to themselves.

"I thought by slowing him down with my telekinesis, I wouldn't have to be on the same level as he was to cut him down."

"Be as clever with your powers as you want. It won't make a difference. I told you before. The only path to power is-"

Henrik snapped awake at the sound of screams, Hana's followed by Joslyn's. Apparently Hana had been kidnapped. Morbidly, Henrik was glad it wasn't Iris but even so he would not have wished that fate on Hana. Still, she seemed to be a tough girl and considering that she wasn't pregnant, probably did not have nearly as much to worry about as Iris did. Maybe Hana would eventually be found in the middle of nowhere...

Whatever the case was, they needed to get moving. Henrik looked off to the side to see that he and Iris were still on the edge of the boat. She was still asleep even after all that noise. He pushed on her shoulder to get her to wake up and after a brief moment of musing on the fact that they slept in a very uncomfortable position, decided to head towards the others to see what was going on.

"So you actually suggested sailing off the island with a raft?"

"Making one seemed feasible. I guess we'll never find out if I'm sailor material or not. Pity, Captain Brandt did have a nice ring to it though." Henrik leaned against the railing on the deck, taking in a deep breath as he stared out into the dark ocean. He shifted slightly, feeling Iris lean against him. After having reunited for the second time, Henrik wasn't sure what to do or say to Iris. He was just glad to still have her after everything that had been happening.

    "They're not dead..."

Henrik tilted his head and looked down at Iris. "Mother's intuition?" To this, Iris nodded slightly. He turned his attention back towards the ocean and remained silent. Soon after he could tell that Iris had drifted off to sleep right on the spot. He smiled faintly and allowed himself to relax for a moment. Sleeping was hardly something he needed anymore but even so his body felt heavy. Henrik closed his eyes for a moment, listening to the waves. He too soon fell asleep.

Eh...technically my tastes have changed but to be specific it's more like they expanded rather than completely changed. Though since I've been getting older and busier...and I'm much more experienced now, I don't really join "nooby" RPs anymore. After RPing here for 6 years you kind of develop really high standards.

"It didn't take me that long to make this." Henrik admitted, scratching the back of his head as he looked down at the star map. As for anything he thought of during his watch that night, he had to keep from saying that he spent most of that time worrying about Iris. True, he had managed to keep a fire burning and get to thinking about a basic plan but aside from that he hadn't thought of any finer details. "Hm..."

"We need to search the island in case there's any nearby ships. Hitch a ride if we find one, if not..." Henrik looked off towards the distant landmass. "Well I hope none of you get seasick." They needed to do anything they could to avoid having to get off the island by raft. The logistics of making such a trip without sinking or frying in the Sun, let alone keeping themselves fed, would be a pain to figure out. "Oh and stay away from anything too brightly colored." Henrik was no wildlife expert so he had no way of knowing what was poisonous or venomous out on the island but a little common sense would at least keep them from getting killed too easily.

"Good morning, sunshine." Henrik muttered as he passed by Richard and stomped out the fire he had kept going all night. Between gathering firewood and exploring, he had gathered a good idea of what they could do on the island. Of course, he hadn't explored very far so there could always be some tourist ship he hadn't come across in order to hitch a ride in but from what he knew, building a raft to get them to a more populated area was not entirely out of the question. The materials they could find on the island was more than strong enough to make a sturdy craft.

"We have two options. Search the island and hope we find a tourist ship or sail northeast on a raft." Henrik pointed down at the sand where what seemed to be a bunch of almost random dots poked into the ground. It was actually a map of the stars Henrik had drawn out. Given how long they had been traveling, the direction they had been going, factoring in the tides that brought them to the island and the geological features, he was certain he knew exactly where they were on the globe. To the northeast should be an inhabited island. Peter Island to be exact. It was the closest reasonable place to go to should they be forced to build a raft. Sometimes it paid to be a genius.

"It would take us hours, maybe even a full day just to get to the next island by raft so I'd rather avoid that. I'm a physicist not a sailor."

'And I'm Arakiel, one of five angels of judgement, angel of vengeance, World of Distortion, but you don't hear me saying that do you?'

'Shut up.' Henrik crossed his arms. "Wakey wakey." He called out to the remaining sleeping girls.

The girl who began to freak out woke Iris up. She blinked at Joslyn and pushed herself out of bed, wondering what had the girl so worried. "What's wrong?" She asked, reaching over for her glasses and putting them on. "What happened?"

"I wouldn't call it the best choice." Still, complaining about it wouldn't do them any good. Richard seemed content to just sleep on the ground and that might have been fine for him but Henrik decided to take the time to do some quick searching before he would turn in for the night. The fact that they were so close to the water meant that they wouldn't actually freeze overnight as the heat stored in the water from the day would be released in the night. This was why deserts had such extreme differences in temperature between day and night. No water, no climate stability. Of course, having a fire around did serve other purposes. Like keeping away pests and animals that might try to take a bite out of them in their sleep.

Henrik was more comfortable in the dark than in the light anyways. Within minutes he had gathered enough material to start a fire and within the first few seconds of trying to make fire, Lei grew impatient. 'Just light the damned thing with-'

'Hellfire? I thought you never wanted me to use anything like that.'

'I'd rather you do that than watch you fiddle around with twigs.'

Henrik shook his head and watched as smoke rose from the pile of grass and branches he gathered. Doing things the human way worked out just fine and that meant Lei could eat his own words. Henrik reached into the back of his mind to gloat but found that the presence of Lei was gone. The arrogant angel obviously didn't want to hear it. He scooted away from the fire and stared at it, knowing it wouldn't last long unless he continued to feed it. Considering that they were on some foreign island, Henrik had better things to do than sleep. Besides, someone had to keep watch.

Meanwhile, Iris just went to sleep with no complaints. Even though she did find Jos a little weird...and creepy.
