So I've spent a lot of time with this game now(and attempted to put on the mask that came with the Limited Edition) and took some time to gather my thoughts about it as well as the complaints some people have had before and after its release. Don't worry, no spoilers. The "Graphics Downgrade": If you're playing on next-gen(current now?) consoles the game will look beautiful. I've looked at a lot of PC footage of the game running on Ultra and I can honestly say the PS4 looks really close to it if not, identical. A lot of the people out there whining about the graphics are either trolls or just upset that the PS4/Xbox One versions of the game don't look like they're running on $2000 rigs. It's silly really. Watch Dogs is a beautiful game even during the daytime. The Driving: Cars have weight. If you speed everywhere and think that just a little bit of breaking will be enough to get you around that tight corner, you'll find a little thing called inertia will get in your way causing you to lose control and slide. The amount of complaints I saw about the driving had me worried. Fortunately it's easy to see that it's a simple case of people either being bad at the game or being used to having perfect control of their cars. Admittedly, driving takes a bit of getting used to especially since spinning out of control could lead to sliding onto the sidewalk and killing everyone. Take it slow. No need to rush. "The game forces me to shoot": I've seen this floating about in a few places. Something similar being said in Kotaku. This is just another case of people being bad at the game. It's not easy to get through all the missions with just hacking but it's totally possible to do most without even killing a single bad guy. If you screw up and get forced into a gunfight it's almost certainly going to be your fault. I managed to do so many of the missions without firing that I never even knew where the reload button was until I screwed up and fought my way through most of the mission I was on. Hacking is much more satisfying though. Even while driving. Now that all of that is out of the way, here's my spoiler-free thoughts on the game. I'm not a fan of the strict morality scale. I thought reputation would be kind of...invisible in a way. Maybe that it would be deeper than a simple scale of how the public views you. Of course, I think it really does do a good(or at least decent) job of telling you how the public sees you indirectly. I hacked into a text conversation of someone saying they thought they saw the Vigilante and how cool it was. Maybe the conversation would have been a little had my reputation been in the dumps. I might do a second playthrough just to see how things change with a low rep. I'm pretty sure I'll have the cops around more often if I do that. Aiden as a character isn't the most interesting man in the world but he is pretty cool and he doesn't brood all the time. He has some humorous moments and however slight they are makes a huge difference between a good character and a one-dimensional character. The story so far? It's kind of what you'd expect. No big surprises, nothing too deep, not much that'll get you emotional. It's probably the game's big weak spot but the story isn't bad. It gets the job done for what it is. The profiler(the thing that lets you spy in on everyone's lives and get a look at what they do for a living) is more fun than I thought it'd be. I found a gunman who was "sexually attracted to musical instruments". All in all, the game's lots of fun, it's pretty to look at, and hacking is really damn satisfying. I honestly think Aiden Pearce should be the new Batman. Taking down enemies one by one when they don't know what's coming after them is textbook Batman material. tl;dr: If you love feeling like you're Batman, get this game.
"My name is X." His arm morphed back into a hand and extended out towards Shulk as a sign of trust. Odds were that Shulk was taken from wherever he called home just as he was. They might not even be from the same world. "Do you have an idea of where we are or what brought us here?" He paused and lowered his hand before Shulk could shake it. The human more than likely could not have picked it up but there were other voices coming from not far away. "We have company." X spoke lowly. "They don't sound friendly." Roxas froze in place when he heard the all-too familiar voice. He jumped away from the crystal creature and looked around for the source of Xemnas's voice. "Show yourself Xemnas!" Oathkeeper reappeared in his hand as he shouted. The anger from hearing the Superior's voice reinvigorated Roxas. This must have been all his fault. It was his fault that she--she... "Gah! Why can't I remember her name!?" Oblivious to his dilemma the crystal weapon charged at him with no warning. As quick as his enemy had been Roxas was faster and in a flash of light he cut the thing in half. He spun his keyblades and readied himself for it to get up again. When it did not move he finally relaxed and let his weapons vanish before sighing out and hunching over to catch his breath. "I just...need...a moment..."
It took me this long to make a new song? I didn't know I was stuck in a creative block for so long.
Yes. It does. I'm not sure if KH2 had a higher quality soundtrack than KH1 but I'd really love to at least hear BBS's OST redone. Mostly just for Terra's theme, Rage Awakened, and Black Powder. KH1 got the soundtrack makeover. So it'd be a little strange to not do the same for KH2.
This is funny because I don't normally listen to songs with vocalists. I'm an instrumentalist. Anyways, while I can listen to and enjoy your average mainstream music...that's kind of like the junk food of music. I prefer more musically interesting pieces. Layers, harmony, odd time signatures, things that just require active listening instead of letting the song just run in the background. It's this reason why Progressive Metal and Post Rock are my favorite genres.
A wisp of black mist trailed off Soren's shoulder as he entered the church. His mother would have his head if had shown up late. He touched his hair to make sure it had dried enough not to be dripping. A quick shower back in his family's home in Norway was good enough to hide the fact that he had been doing something other than getting ready to be here. While Anna had been keeping up with her studies he had been doing everything he could to get stronger. Even a year later he couldn't help but feel like his father would still be here if-- "You're Araquiel's boy aren't you?" It was Milo who greeted him when he arrived. Soren wasn't fond of him even if he did help out his mother and sister in the past. "What about it?" At Soren's question the man smirked. "I have a proposition for you. Armaros may have hated Araquiel but he has a soft spot for children like you. Care to hear it?" Tiia looked back over at Min and smiled, "Thanks for the offer, I'll think about it but... I don't know." In truth, she wasn't actually considering it, she didn't want to. If possible she didn't want to have to fight anything ever again, but she didn't know if it was a temporary thing. Maybe in a few years? She had no idea if they would still be demon fighting in a few years. Tiia leaned back into the pew and spoke, "Does anyone else find these pews seriously uncomfortable?" Min jumped to her feet and clapped her hands together. "All pews are uncomfortable. I get that ya' know, like, angels and stuff -- wanting to be closer to God and all that jazz; but we should seriously have this thing outside. Would be way better. Plus we're in Spain! Can't waste the beauty." Min exited the pew and approached the altar, gathering up the candles. "I was looking around earlier and there's some chairs through that door. If we move quick we can get set up outside before it starts." She turned to face everyone with a wide grin and an armful of large candles. Tiia jumped up immediately and replied, "That sounds like a good idea to me! I'll go and get some chairs." She almost went to run for the door to the room with chairs in it, but realized she was in a church and instead made a point to walk with purpose instead of run. "Well what do you say, kid?" At Milo's question Soren looked off to the side, unsure of whether or not he could even trust the man. It was too good to be true. His eyes caught sight of both his sister and Reuben. "I'll think about it." Soren muttered as he walked past the man. The two nephilim were not headed in his direction at all and when he turned his head to see where they were headed he stopped dead in his tracks. Soren took a moment to adjust his coat before quickly heading over and passing the two by with little more than a quick "Hi" to them. He stopped in front of the blonde girl wanting to speak to her before the others had a chance. "Hey Cal. It's...it's been awhile." Cal parted her lips into a smile, grinning from ear to ear. She let dropped Caius's arm and stepped forward, throwing herself into Soren. "Hey," she breathed into his chest, with her arms tight around him. Cal pulled away, her face a bit red and looked up at him happily. "That it has," she agreed. Her arms unwound from his body and she stepped back. Red eyes fell past his shoulder and a curious look crossed her face. "What are you guys doing?" she asked the two girls down at the front of the sanctuary. "We're moving the wedding outside!" Min announced leisurely. "We could use some help moving stuff." The Asian girl walked past with her arms full of candles and gave a wink before heading out the doors.
It looks pretty but the short gameplay shown is making me worried that this'll be Shooting Gallery: The Game. Hopefully E3 shows us something a little more interesting about this game.
There's all sorts of launch trailers and TV commercials out for this game but none of those show anything really new. So I thought of the many videos to come out about Watch Dogs I'd put up a totally legit and official review of the game...by Conan O'Brien.
"Zero?" X looked around the unfamiliar territory. One minute his red-armored friend was by his side and the next he wasn't. This must have been yet another one of Sigma's traps. The old maverick never knew when to give up no matter how many times they had to put him down. "Alia are you there?" Silence. There were no transmissions he could feel. He was in the dark. He stared at the grass beneath his metallic boots and tilted his head as he scanned the terrain. None of it was artificial and he knew this was neither a residential sector nor a park watched over by any Reploid he knew of. He looked up towards the sky and continued his investigation on where he was transported to. Despite the fact that it was day his eyes were still capable of seeing the stars above. None of them matched any known constellations. This was not Earth. "Very well, come then, you are no match for the Monado's power!" A male's voice was clearly heard not too far away. X rushed ahead knowing that it sounded serious running in to find a boy fighting against some kind of crystalline weapon. His right hand morphed into his X-Buster but as X aimed down towards the thing attacking the boy he hesitated in firing fearing that he would miss. Despite the fact that he seemed to be holding his own he still appeared to be human and X could not just stand back and do nothing. X knelt down and held his aim steady as his power began to concentrate within the buster as it charged up. "Hey! Move out of the way!" He shouted towards the boy. After waiting a moment he unleashed the stored energy in his buster in one brilliant surge of blue light. Roxas dropped Oathkeeper and panted as he watched the blade vanish into bits of light. He had just beaten down that hooded guy who was using his powers of darkness when he was suddenly jumped by some strange creature. It wasn't even a Heartless nor a Nobody. Maybe if he hadn't been so tired he would have done better fighting something so weak but... "Gah!" Its blade cut through the sleeve of his cloak. Roxas jumped back and gripped Oblivion with both his hands. Was this all some kind of illusion? No, that couldn't be it. Zexion was dead and even Xemnas did not have the power to do something like this without him noticing. He shook his head and backed up several steps. "I should stop asking myself questions. That's not going to get me out of here. I'll just portal back when I'm done here." He tensed up and winced when he did so. This was not going to be easy.
Oh look. A new trailer.
It saddens me that anyone would vote for anything other than Peter. Even though Beast Wars was awesome. Maybe it's because not enough people have seen this:
Let's all be honest here. The only reason anyone's complaining about the movie is because Godzilla is all CGI and not enough "guy in a suit doing martial arts". Either that or the fact that the movie doesn't take place in New York...by having Godzilla come from Japan tearing through Asia and Europe on his trip.
"Hmph. He's lucky I didn't gut him for ripping me off like that." Rigel muttered lowly as he dragged the bloodied flat of his blade against the coat of a sturdy-looking man standing just outside the door. The man growled at him but Rigel smirked and pointed towards the shotgun strapped to his side. "When I get angry things get messy." Luckily, the bodyguard backed off because the gun was empty. Sighing as he left, Rigel lamented over his lost profit. What kind of buyer from the black market would need an entire werewolf body? Weren't the faux scientists only interested in things like brains and hearts? Besides, it wasn't as if he could drag the entire corpse four miles with the rest of its pack still hunting him down. Choices had to be made and he choose to cut the beast's head off, harvest its heart, and call it a day. Unfortunately his "contract" had some fine print about bringing in "damaged goods". Rigel was too tired to fight it. He just wanted some rest after having spent the entire day out hunting. "Hm..." With one glance at the wall Rigel walked forth, glad to be in the city for however short a time it would be before he headed out again.
I want a series about Superman now. Another one. We can never have enough Superman. The fact that in CW's DC universe powers exist...makes me wonder if we'll start seeing supervillains in Arrow. Besides Slade of course.
Name: X Video Game Series: Mega Man X Villain or Hero: Hero Abilities/Equipment: Weapon copying and his trademark X Buster. Name: Roxas Video Game Series: Kingdom Hearts Villain or Hero: Hero Abilities/Equipment: Keyblades Woo. Yay for 358/2 Days existing. I'll look into some more...classic series later.
Um...black Human Torch. That's amusing. I'd be okay with it if Invisible woman wasn't white. You're right though, they could be step-siblings or something like that. Still, it's strange. Oh well, at least it's unlikely for this to be worse than the last two movies.
Apparently, Watch_Dogs will run at 1080p/60 fps on the PS4. No word on the resolution and framerate for the Xbox One version though. Since Sony confirmed this and it didn't exactly come directly from Ubisoft there's reason to take this with a grain of salt. Likely we'll get an unlocked fps that'll average around 40/50 fps and (this is just speculation) the Xbox One will probably run at locked 30 fps with 1080p resolution.
Aiden brushed his shoulder off, narrowing his eyes at the one who couldn't have been bothered to look where he was going. He recognized who it was but given the time of day he could not remember if he was on good terms with Sam or not. Odds were they weren't too friendly with each other. Most people did not tolerate his attitude after all. "No need to get so close. I don't swing that way." He smirked as he turned to face Sam. "Don't worry. I'm sure your admirer over there would love to have you keep him warm at night." He said motioning towards the other boy who had been watching. "We should probably pick up the pace. Don't wanna be late." Aiden pointed towards his wrist for a watch that was not there before he turned away from Sam and began to walk faster. It was early in the morning and even though he had told himself he wouldn't be late...it was still too early for him to do too much about it by using his ability to get there right now. Besides, there was no point in racing there if he was almost certain that some early bird would have beaten him there before he even woke up.
It's no hoax. It's been confirmed for awhile now but at least this game won't be the horrific piece of garbage the original was. The developers seem like they want this to actually be great. I'm not one for fighting games but I'll keep an eye out for when this comes out to see if it's worth playing. That golden SNES cartridge does make me feel like I should've invested just for that.
Throughout my many travels through the depths of the internet and its legions of Final Fantasy (insert number here) fanboys/girls, it's not hard to find people who say Final Fantasy (insert number here) ruined the series. Obviously not everyone will agree on which is the best Final Fantasy or which has the best battle system or even who's the hottest character. With the approach of Final Fantasy XV, I've seen hundreds of threads on just the battle system alone. A lot of people want Final Fantasy to stay turn-based. A lot of people want Final Fantasy to go away from it. And a lot of people just think FFXV is jumping on the "WRPG/ARPG bandwagon"...despite having been developed as an ARPG for about a decade. It seems like everyone forgets that Square was the company that pretty much created the standard ARPG with Final Fantasy Adventure back in 1991 which, two years later, spawned a sequel we all know and love as Secret of Mana. Final Fantasy has always been about change. Every numbered title comes with a different story and a completely new cast. Even from Final Fantasy I to Final Fantasy II, despite being both turn-based, they have vastly different mechanics. As years progressed the combat grew faster paced until becoming a full-fledged ARPG with FFXV. Another complaint that's gone around is the fact that Square's been making sequels and spin-offs to certain games. FFX-2, Dirge of Cerberus, Revenant Wings, FFXIII-2, and Lightning Returns just to name a few. Now there's rumors and such going about that there'll be another sequel to FFX and it seems like there's plans to expand on FFXV with more games. Back in the olden days, there were never sequels to a Final Fantasy game. Once a game was released, that was it. Square moved on to the next numbered title. So, my point is, what do you all think of these changes? Thoughts on sequels and spin-offs to Final Fantasy games? Do you like that FFXV is an ARPG and not turn-based? What kind of future do you think Final Fantasy has? I'll be posting my own thoughts later but I'm curious to see if most of you are happy with the changes the brand has gone through over the years. Despite several rough patches in recent years, I'm glad Final Fantasy has not tried to remain stagnant. tl;dr: Old vs new. Have at it.
