Two words: Social Class. Naturally, most people have this instinct that greater beauty is of greater value. Thus if some1's cloths are more valuable or percepts a greater look, people think he/she is some1 to respect. Now that's not always the case. (take me for instance, I don care...) But for most ppl, they tend to b as fashionable as they can in order to obtain higher respect from others and show themselves as people who are "rich or richer" As for criticism, most people have a tendancy to pick on things that's different. Refering back to my previous point and added with this, some people view bad fashion=some1 with low class personality, behavior, intelligence, etc.
Firstly, it is a mixture of Halloween and Christmas thus maintaining the themes. Second, I guess the black color sort of maintains his drive ability cuz it corrosponds with the colors of his regular shirt.
