When Sora released Kairi's heart, he also released his own. That's how he turned into a heartless, and Roxas and Naminé were born. It's all in the Reports.
During the destruction of Destiny Islands, we see Kairi going through Sora and vanishing. That's when Kairi gave her heart to Sora, who releases it with his own during the events of Hollow Bastion. That's when both Roxas and Naminé were born. I don't know that why we haven't seen any heartless versions of the bosses. Or maybe we have. They might be ordinary Shadows and Neo-Shadows.

Well, two things make it unlikely. 1) Kairi's heart had another vessel. Meaning that her heart wasn't really free. Maybe her body and soul didn't respond to the seperation of a heart because her heart had another body and that it kept a link between them. 2) Kairi's a Princess Of Light. Without darkness in her, she can't have a Heartless.
I wish the game'd start... I mean, I'd play CT but I don't want to miss anything.. @Amber: Yes, it is. I always mess it up.
