I think it's been tried before but it was canceled due to it being quite chaotic. I'd be up for one if we put enough thought into it.
I'd expect getting hit by a softball at 60 mph causes the same amount of pain yet less injury than a baseball at the same speed. Softer materials have a certain elasticity to them while hard materials do not, so that's my guess. Don't know a thing about either sport though.

It depends what kind of job they are hiring for. There's no shame in hiring the best person for the job, and there are some jobs where good looks increase the efficiency of the employee. Advertising is one that comes to mind.
Give them time to evacuate. Then nuke them. If North Korea cares even a little bit for its citizens it will evacuate them.
