Clattering onto the ground, the gem had exploded in a flash of radiant light it had vanished. "Whoooaoaooaooa," was the cry that sounded out as the anthropomorphic dog landed flat onto his face. Sprawled out across the ground, the man opened his eyes to try and take a look around where he was, seeing the completely unfamiliar around him. Standing back up, the man looked around trying to get a bearing as to where he was, a hand put to his chin as he started to recount what had happened. "Well let's see. I was with all my friends in Disney Town and then that witch came and," as a sudden realization hit him as to where he was, or wasn't rather, with a shocked expression and a small hop the man went, "oh no!" Turning around, the man started frantically looking for his friends, his eyes darting from place to place until he saw his son in a similar position to himself. Rushing over to him, practically tackle hugging him he exclaimed, "oh Maxie, I'm so glad you're safe! I was so worried about you, I thought we might never see each other again but now we're all back together!" As he went on rambling like this, he then let go of his son and looked at the guards on the ground and the rather strange looking person who was here. Waving to them he said, "well hello there fellows, me and my son here are a bit lost, could you tell us where we might be?"

While Stratos was sure that something was troubling the girl, he didn't actually understand the depth of the issue. As she began to recount her tale, he was definitely not expecting her to be leading off with how she was married. The idea of marriage was one that always seemed completely far off and maybe a bit unrealistic to Stratos himself, and he never really took into account how much of a life people had before getting their keyblades and fighting the heartless. In fact, that alone made him realize just how little he actually knew about everyone who he had fought alongside, with perhaps a few exceptions. Regardless, he let her continue onward with her story about what these issues were.

It was obvious from the get go that this was not going to be a story with a happy ending. Even as she seemed to have fond memories of the moments leading up to it, Stratos was bracing himself for what it was that was going to happen. As he listened to how she had been attacked by some hooded figures and how her fiance had sacrificed himself in order to save her. While the girl seemed to be breaking down from this memory, Stratos in contrast became more pensive. Of course, these thoughts were completely broken up by her starting to sob and leaving Stratos in an awkward position. He understood that what she went through must have been painful and he did feel sorry that she had to go through it but...he wasn't really that good at comforting people. In fact, the only time he had was with Karina and that was more yelling at her then comforting.

As the boy thought more and more, a thought then occurred to him. "He fell into a hole of darkness right? Well, we also fell through a hole of darkness right? It was on a lot bigger of a scale sure, but we still fell into some giant hole of darkness thing." Waving away the semantics of his comment he then continued. "And we're both alive, and I'm sure the others are too. So he could've ended up here too, and if he did then I'm sure he's still alive too. After all, a guy like him probably wouldn't rest until he found his way out of here and I doubt any kind of darkness could get in his way of finding it." He wasn't exactly sure how much of what he said was any bit true nor if it was actually comforting, but he could hope.

As Stratos began walking towards the light, he realized something. There were no sounds of anyone following after him. Wondering if Luna was having trouble with something, Stratos turned around to see that she hadn't moved from her place. Raising an eyebrow at this, the boy started to walk forward towards the girl as he noticed the expression on her face. The girl definitely seemed to be deeply troubled by something, given the expression on her face. And based on the rest of her body, she had definitely seemed to be in an almost fearful state. While he couldn't do much, not knowing its source, he couldn't very well just leave her like that. If that light was their ticket out of here, then they both needed to get to it. And so, walking in closer, with a concerned tone in his voice, Stratos asked the simple, "hey, Luna. Is something bothering you?"

There was nothing around him. Just black. His eyes didn't seem to work. Or were they working just fine? Was this that was all that was left of the world they were in? Just a solid black as far as the eye could see. No. Black would imply there was something that was taking in all the light. This was different. If this was really all that was left then it would make sense. This wasn't black. This was nothing. An expanse of nothing as far as the eye could see. Stratos couldn't quite be sure if he was awake, if what he was seeing was actually true. He couldn't feel himself move any of his other body parts worked. He made concious effort to move his hands. But he felt nothing. He tried to move his legs, but it was as if there was nothing they were touching. He tried to speak. But no words came out. He tried to listen. But no sounds were to be heard. Was this what reality had really become? A black void where nothing could be felt, nothing could be heard and no one could be called. As this realization occurred to him, Stratos started to feel something. It was the sense that the was moving, closer to drifting then actual purpose filled movement. He started being able to feel his body as it was just aimlessly floating about the darkness; no where to go and no where to end up at.

And just as he started to feel as though he were drifting, that feeling started to change once again. This time, he was no longer floating about in any given direction. Instead it felt like the world around him started to move upward, or perhaps he was just sinking further downward. He felt as though he were being pulled by something, as if the darkness itself were a crowd of hands that were slowly creeping across the boy's body. That they were clutching onto him, a grip that was far too tight for any normal person to resist, and were dragging him down. As the grip seemed to intensify, the pulling increase, Stratos attempted to fight against it. But it was of no use. Not only did it feel like an innumerable amount of creatures were working against him, but it felt like his body was in water. There was resistance against every movement he made, everything felt absolutely sluggish and there was some kind of force other than that of the hands pushing him down. If the darkness were quite like an endless ocean, then this would be that water's current. Farther and farther it felt like it was dragging the boy towards its depths, never to resurface again.

As he continued to sink, the boy kept trying to struggle against the current, but realized that he was too weak to do so. Since they had left the wasteland, everything had felt off. He had felt all of the power that he accrued over the journey slip away. All the skills he had picked up, unusable. Possibly even forgotten. All of his strength was completely wiped. His heart was reset and with it, any hope of him fighting back against this darkness. No. That was a lie. Stratos knew that he had never actually been strong to begin with. He was weak, weaker than everyone else who had been there. He was in no way strong enough to match literally anyone in the squad that he was apart of, every last one of them being able to carry much more force behind their blade than he. He was nowhere near as fast as anyone, each and every other person in the group likely being able to run laps around him. He was not the sturdiest, though he could outlast others, there were definitely people who could take a hit far better than he ever could. His only saving grace was his magical aptitude, but even then, it wasn't like it had any way of matching the strength of the physical bruisers in the group, and there were many more who were far better at magic than he was. He had thought he could make up for that difference in learning newer abilities. The commands that the teammates he had made were using always seemed to work out great for them, so perhaps if he could use them then it'd work for him too. Of course, they never did. They were the same in use, but overall their effect was different. It was something that he couldn't ever hope to match. And if he couldn't hope to match his teammates, then he'd likely only ever stand to hamper them in their progress. And if he was only a burden, than it'd stand to reason that he should just fade.

No. That wasn't quite it, was it? If he were always this weak, then perhaps he was exactly where he needed to be now. If the husk of his former self was as strong, as apt and as useful then his old self was, then perhaps he could do something about it this time. He had been weak. His whole life he was nothing but weak. But now, his whole life didn't matter. Everything that he had worked towards was erased. Which meant everything that made him weak was gone. If he was only filled with things that made him useless, then perhaps this time he could try and become something more. He had been weak yet attempted to copy those far stronger than him. That alone was not the issue. The issue was that he had only thought that going through the motions was what the technique work out for him. But his heart was never properly synced up with them. He couldn't use things that weren't truly his, because he couldn't begin to understand how others did so. The weakness of his old heart had made everything he did a far cry from its original. It fooled him into believing he was stronger than he actually was, without having to make any effort into actually becoming so. Simple imitation was all it took to become better than what one was. That attempting to reuse the same motions of the greats, without any adjustment or adaptability on one's own part was what would make him equal to them. As such, he needed to embrace his heart's reset. And if he were to do that, he couldn't just give up here and let himself be devoured by oblivion. He had to keep pressing on. Even if the journey was tough, he hadn't given up at any point prior, and so now was not the time for it either. And so, as his heart reconciled with this, he felt the pull of the darkness start to loosen. And soon, he felt as though he were drifting more and more, until finally he had as though this time he were rising. With such a feeling going through him, soon, the nothingness around him finally seemed to be filled with something.

Under his body he felt something cold. What it was was completely uncertain. Stratos was sure that, given the fact it felt his entire body was sprawled across it, it was some kind of ground. Though, what kind of ground he couldn't actually be sure. It was like it had the hard feeling of stone, the chill emanating from it. But at the same time he felt as though it had the same kind of give one might expect from dirt. He was very unsure of what exactly it was, as it seemed far too foreign and unfamiliar for him to really make sense of. After trying to discern where exactly he was simply by touch, the boy then realized that his eyes were closed and if he were to figure anything else out that would need to change. Slowly, and with seemingly more effort than one would normally need, the boy opened his eyes to see what was above him. Darkness. A very unnatural darkness. Or perhaps it was far more natural than what he was used to. It was one that seemed to swirl across the sky is a myriad of different colors, and though for whatever reason the boy's vision was not obscured by the lack of light. As he looked to the sky, he was then reminded of the dark orb in the sky that had swallowed all of Disney Town not moments prior to his awakening. At least, that's how long it felt. If this darkness was similar to that one, then there was no doubt in Stratos's mind where he ended up. This was the birthplace of the enemy they had been fighting for so long, one that he had only ever heard rumors or stories about but never actually saw with his own eyes. This was the Realm of Darkness.

The boy felt a feeling of dismay and weariness flow through him as he realized this, but soon shook his head in an attempt to rid himself of those thoughts. This was the Realm of Darkness, sure, but he had managed to find his way into here from the Realm of Light. It wasn't exactly of his own volition, nor by anything he could consider natural, but the fact that there was a bridge between the two did exist. And so, he just had to find that bridge again to get himself out of here. In order to do that, he needed to move from where he was and get walking. That required the boy to get up on his two feet, and when he tried to push him off the ground, he could barely push himself up. It was then that his brain finally caught up with something else that had happened. In addition to just feeling weak in general, Stratos felt a wave of pain shoot through every part of his body. Letting out a grunt and a groan, the boy quickly fell himself collapse back down whenever he tried to push himself back up. In the end, Aux had really done a number on him, and he still had to recover from it, but he couldn't just sit around doing nothing either. And so, trying to force himself through the pain, the boy eventually managed to stand on his own two feet, and look to the black horizon. He wasn't sure what to expect, but he knew that there was the answer to him getting back. With that, the boy started walking.

    -----Present Day------

He wasn't exactly sure how long it had been since his journey here started. Time was incredibly difficult to tell in this world, because there was no day or night. There was just awake and asleep. And it wasn't like he kept how many times he had done the whole sleeping thing since he had been here. Were it not for the fact that his soreness had faded, he wouldn't have thought it was unreasonable to think no time at all had passed. But, that was irrelevant, what was relevant was trying to find his way out, or secondarily, the other (former) keyblade wielders. Over the course of his journey he met up with Luna, who was similarly by herself and trapped here, and so the two had ended up journeying together with each other. Meeting back with her had managed to make Stratos's blind hope start to feel a little less so, as if the both of them were here, then the others likely were too. And if they all were, then surely they could all figure a way out together. As he thought of getting a way out, the boy instinctively flicked his wrist in an attempt to summon his keyblade. Of course, it did not come, but this was a habit he had found hard to break since his journey started. Upon the reminder of this once again, the boy's hand clutched tighter into a fist in slight frustration before returning to normal.

As the duo walked further and further through the realm, Stratos the darkness seemed to be pierced by something. A pillar of light, unlike anything he had seen in this realm before had shone through the veil of shadows. Having not seen such a thing in who knows how long, Stratos took a bit to register that it was actually light, until his widened in realization. In the midst of this endless darkness, it was like a beacon cat that showed them the way. Clearly something had to be there, and if the others really were here, then they could be gathering there as well. Pointing to it, he looked back at Luna and said, "hey, look at that over there. I think our best bet out of here is right there." Turning back to see the pillar, he started to pick up his pace in order to get there much quicker.

As the rest of the group had been freaking out over the loss of power, loss of cornerstone, loss of this world and overall loss of hope, Stratos had just stood there silently for the most part. Physically he didn't feel much different at all, maybe a bit more fragile to the touch. However, the lack of any magical ability and the inabiltiy to summon his keyblade was all Stratos needed to confirm that he too was effected by this whole baseline power thing that the rest of the people were going through. However, he wasn't so much stunned by it, nor was he really freaking out from it. With an oddly level head of the whole thing, Stratos was trying to figure out just what emotion it was that he was feeling at the moment. He had always thought that the keyblade had mistakenly chosen him when he acquired it, and now he was freed from it, right?

"But do you really think it did?"
The memory all too long ago played back in Stratos's head. Of course he did. "And what makes you so sure of that?" I'm weak. Weaker then everyone else. "True. Compared to the others, you were more like a fly or a gnat then anything else." That proved it only more. "Ah, but that weapon won't leave you now, will it?" Never. I try and I try, but I can't live up to either the weapon's expectations or get rid of it. "I'm not too sure of that, yet if won't leave, that just means that this was the hand you were dealt. And a rather good one at that." Nothing good has come from this 'hand.' "I suppose so. But I find something remarkably interesting about you." Stratos said nothing in return. The man looked ready to say something before going into something different. "Unlike all others who have fought me before, you are only at your starting line. And in order to overcome that, well, you must run from it as fast as you can, and never look back."

As those words played through his head once again, he remembered what he felt back then. The man's smile seemed nothing more than sinister, his words the most threatening thing he had heard in his life up to that point. However now, they seemed to bear some kind of different meaning to them. As his comrades went to fight the apprentice that had appeared before them, it was clear what was going to happen. The man had the goal to snuff out all hope, in all of them, and yet despite that, one after another they kept going after him. Despite the futility of their assaults, it didn't stop most of them from trying their hardest. Stratos knew very well what it was that he had been feeling upon the realization that his powers that he had gotten were gone.

Some mixture of both sadness, over all of his effort being thrown to the wayside due to one act that they had preformed, and some other feeling. One that, despite all of the messes they had been put in and the currently world ending situation, seemed to come to light. Stratos looked at the swirling vortex of darkness above him in the bleak, darkened sky, and he understood what it was. It wasn't the thing that was going to end his life, and it wasn't the thing that would thwart everything he had ever attempted. That, the giant mass above, was his starting line. He had no way to actually prove that it was something that would at all benefit him, yet he felt oddly calmed by the idea of it nonetheless.

Despite all of the taunting that had been done by Aux, despite all of the reveals, the despair and the futility, Stratos stood firm as the man had finished dealing with D'daear. With an odd look of determination on his face, Stratos was not ready to just let him win. Even if he had thought his journey was about to begin anew, that didn't mean he wanted this one to end so pittifully. And so, Stratos walked up to Aux, the man who seemed to give barely any notice to him. Stratos clenched his fist and punched the brick wall of a man, doing nothing more than hurting his own hand in the process and causing the masked man to turn his attention to him. With little to no effort at all, Aux brought his fist into Stratos's gut, knocking the wind out of the latter instantly. While the attack knocked him to the ground, he was still conscious. Picking himself up off the ground, the fist then collided with Stratos's back, forcing him straight back into the ground, almost flattened by the blow. He had fought Nequa before, someone who likely on par with him, yet her strength was entirely different from his. Nequa had used some kind of magic that he never had seen before, and had ended it all in an, albeit painful, instant. Aux was an entirely different beast altogether. He had never been faced with such raw physical might that it defied logic, and the pain caused by each blow seemed to be beyond reason.

Yet he could not give up just yet. The hope that existed within his heart was still alive, and even if there was still no chance of victory, Stratos still had fight left in him. Mustering all of his strength, letting out gasps of air all the while, the boy brought himself back up, slowly but surely until he was just about on his feet. However, before he could, Aux had been done with the boy's resilience, grabbing him by the collar before tossing him lightly into the air. As the boy started to come back down, Aux then kicked upward, striking the boy once again in the gut with his foot, sending the former keyblade wielder into the sky. Beaten and bruised beyond belief, Stratos's consciousness faded as he was sent into the dark swirling vortex.

In an instant, it all seemed to be over. With Mortimer having been struck down by a cannon ball, it all seemed to be a bit surreal to the boy for a second there. Looking around, he saw there was nary a blotling nor bloticle in sight. The dragon had been felled, the mouse without a keyblade and the fight seemed to have come to its close. A sense of relief washed over Stratos, as he realized that they had finally managed to save this world of Wasteland and the fight that felt like it took over half a year was finally over. As the groups managed to join up through some party collapsing space, Stratos pondered on how they could get out for a bit when an idea crossed his head. "Well if we got here through a book and some ink, maybe we just need another book and some more ink to leave." His face was one that seemed to suggest that the solution was really that simple, before he thought about it again and said, "wait that sounded smarter in my head."

Okay, so, big dragon thing. It was breathing fire, Stratos was blocking the fire, the fire kind of hurt. Overall, Stratos wasn't a fan of the fire, and he didn't even have faith equipped so he couldn't beat the fire. But here was the secret, he didn't need to beat the fire directly. He just needed to beat the dragon and with it, the fire would be beaten. This was the perfect plan, yes, and Stratos wouldn't here otherwise. But wait, other than the pitiful combo attacks of his, he had no way to beat the dragon. Which meant he had to rely on the others to beat the dragon and thus the fire. And so, Stratos cast cure on Glen, in order to help beat the fire and the dragon and maybe the rat.

After the group had unleashed their onslaught of attacks on the rat man, and Stratos stood there, it seemed that things were going pretty well in their favor. However, just as the rodent seemed to be on its last legs, it managed to summon up some giant dragon heartless, one that pretty large and terrifying and all things considered. However, Stratos had dealt with large and terrifying creatures before, so he was positive that it would be perfectly doable to kill this beast. Soon after its summon, though, Stratos realized something particularly worrisome about this beast. The damage it could cause wasn't arbitrary.

Upon realization of this, Stratos went to go cover for Beuce, taking the green flames the beast spewed out head on, Stratos had not only taken the flames meant for him but also his white haired companion. Needless to say he was quite knocked out. Thankfully, the boy was holding onto an item that was actually his, and managed to get back up into the fight. With Beuce now doing some really weird dance that Stratos could fathom about as well as he could the one handed triangle, the boy started to feel slightly restored, and figured that it'd be a good idea to make sure he didn't go down in the middle of this.

As if there were no instrument to begin with and acting as if they had not just broke it down, Stratos looked pretty much like he had before the entire limit had been used, and thus went to go on with his turn like it would go on normally. With the reluctancy over, both sides were now cleared to attack. And with Beuce no longer having an Aero up, and Stratos not having the MP to cast another one at the moment, the boy went to go and cover for the white haired man.

After playing childhood favorite, the glockenspiel, Stratos then discarded the instrument to go pick out his final instrument. He needed something good to finish off on, something that would make all the hearts swoon and fanboys go crazy. Looking around, Stratos saw something that stuck out to him above all else. Looking at it, it looked like some weird glowing baseball bat sword thing, that didn't at all resemble an instrument. However, the young copycat knew the item's true value, grabbing it and dismissing his keyblade at the moment. Twirling it around, Stratos then held it like one would an electric guitar and started air strumming across the glowing end. While the "instrument" didn't make any noise, there was some that could be heard coming from Stratos as he tried to, terribly, mimic the noise that a guitar would produce.

With Glen on a trom's bone, Beuce on the sandstorm and Kaida on the Mexico, Stratos knew he needed to help out this ensemble with something else. And so he went to go play an instrument that most people probably knew of. An instrument that existed in all childhoods, one that most were forced to play and listen to but literally never saw outside of the first few years of school. That was right, Stratos went to play the all too harmonic glockenspiel. However, he didn't have the stick to hit the notes with, so instead he started just pounding against them with his keyblade to make some noise in the room, and deal with the rat.

After getting rid of the hick instrument, Stratos then went on to play something else. Something he'd need a lot of strength to wield and not much of it. Walking over to another stringed fish, this one was far noticeably larger than the one he had played prior. However, in order to play this one, rather than a pick he needed something known as a bow. But Stratos wasn't a ranger and most certainly wasn't an archer; after all archers were made up of archers and which just went to show why he wasn't one of them. So instead, he took out his keyblade and started to try and play it with his keyblade, after all you could turn the keyblade into anything right? Wait. Stratos then realized that he actually didn't know how to turn a keyblade into a bow, cementing even further that he was no archer, and so instead just kind of slid the keyblade across the strings of the giant fish.

After playing the fish, the Stratos then went on to destroy more favorite instruments by going over to the hickest of instruments he could find. The Banjo. Grabbing the hickville instrument, Stratos then realized that he couldn't actually play it as he didn't have the finger picks that were needed for it, and so he decided to invent the pickless banjo instead. Which is to say he just used his fingers as regular, making the already odd sounding instrument just sound absolutely god awful. But hey, when did that ever stop the boy from playing an instrument before?

After having played the gracious kazoo, Stratos then went back to doing what he did best. Mangling string instruments so that all who heard it wish they never heard it again. Looking around for something else for himself to play, Stratos saw a fish just floating about. Grabbing the fish, he examined that there was some kind of strings across the bass fish, effectively turning it into a lower sound guitar. Playing the fish, Stratos let loose the noise of the Symphonia towards the rat man once again, trying to be his own one man rock band here.

After jamming out on the organ, Stratos then heard that the beat was being picked up by Beuce, playing the majestic triangle. The boy looked at the instrument that the man was playing and couldn't help be baffled by what he saw, as if the very existence of what was going on defied all common sense and logic. Stratos then remembered who he was watching play this instrument and once again said, "right right. Still makes sense." Moving on to the next instrument of his own, the boy went to go play one of the most versatile, harmonic and melodious instruments that ever did exist. Picking it out kazoo, Stratos started to play renditions of all the most notable songs in Earth history, which was a wonder how the non-earth boy even knew about them to begin with, and boy did he play them.

Being accompanied by a singing voice, Stratos kept on playing the violitar, letting loose terrible sound after terrible sound. However, all good, (or in this case bad) things had to come to an end, and so Stratos discarded the violin after playing it enough. The next that Stratos did was go to play, and subsequently ruin, another classic instrument. Sitting down at an Organ piano, Stratos cracked his knuckles as the boy started to go to musical work. He wasn't entirely sure which keys made what noise, so the only real way to find out was start hitting them at random. And that's just what the boy did. Sliding his fingers up and down all the keys, a lovely noise that only a deaf person could mistake for actually lovely resounded throughout the field, dealing the damage he needed to do against the rat man.

While Stratos heard a noise quite similar to the one he was playing, he thought he was going a bit crazy. Clearly no sane person would be able to replicate such chaotic and random bad drumming down to the note and make the same noise as he. Looking over to see that Beuce was playing the drums, a look of understanding went across his face as Stratos simply said, "oh. Well that explains it." He then heard the exact same noise, again, being duplicated, wondering if Beuce had some managed to clone himself here. Seeing that it was Glen who was now on the drums as well, Stratos said, "yup. Still makes sense." Getting away from the drums, Stratos then went on to deal with the next instrument; the violin. A classical string instrument that produces beautiful melodies for the world to hear...when it wasn't played by someone who decided to play it like a guitar. And so, Stratos went on to rock out with his violitar and deal damage once again in this weird limit thing.

Having successfully failed at playing the classic rocker instrument, the guitar, Stratos then moved on to getting to fail at some other instrument. The drums. They were also a classic that he could horribly butcher. Walking over to a set of them that were just floating about, he took the drumsticks in hand and started to play a mighty fierce beat. Which obviously meant tapping the sticks together followed by striking the instrument with the sticks like a madman. Given that Stratos had barely any strength to speak of, it was no surprise that the drums didn't break under this frantic, random and consistent pummeling of the instrument. However, that did not mean that they didn't produce noise, and a noise that would destroy the rat's ears simply from hearing the discordant rhythm and sharp sounds that made zero sense.

As the fight continued onward between them and this oversized rat with a pipe, it seemed that they needed to take a break and jam. With the strength of one's heart and blah blah blah, Glen had managed to somehow summon a large mass of instruments for them to all use. What were these instruments going to do, Stratos had zero idea. However, all he needed to do was not think and play, and something was bound to happen. And so, he turned his attention to the nearest instrument; the guitar. Stratos grabbed the stringed instrument, and looked at it. He suddenly realized he had no idea how to play the guitar, or any instrument for that matter, but that wasn't important right now. What was was that he play the instrument like no one's business. And like no one had any business listening to this, Stratos started to strum across the strings of the guitar, letting loose the sound through the air doing all he could to participate in this symphony.
