Freya watched as Tucker drove off, hoping that what she had just done wasn't the biggest mistake of her life.

Man, what a bad girl you are.

She turned to see Evan standing next to her, somehow wearing shoes all of a sudden. E͏ń̶͡d̶̢ ̀h̵̸į͘m. ҉̸͜H͜e̸ ͡w̶̧̨i̕ll̛ ͏g̕͟e͢t ̶ì̕͟n̡͞ ͜y͠͏ó̷͞u̷̸͟r̛͝͞ ̷͢w̷̶͞a̢͘͡ỳ

Oh, Idunno, maybe see how things go first, ya know? Actually learn what Cupid's Brew does. For all I know that drug could kill the man.

He said with a wry smile on his face.

Does everyone know? First Richie, now you. I've thought about what it could do...I hope to god that this works out. Observe if you want, but if you get in my way, I will remove you from the equation.

She asked, turning to him with a deathly somber look on her face.

    I don't know about everyone...
He pondered for a second. But continued on, the devilish smile returning to his face.

Ah well, it's not like there's anything I could do right now anyway. For now, though, gooodluck!

    Freya watched as Evan walked off. She didn't want to think about how this would complicate things. Ỳ̡́o̕u͟͠ ̡͏s̵͠h̸͘ǫ́u̵̵͜l͢͜d̨͢ ҉͏͢h͠͝a͞v͝e̵̕ ͞s̛͘t͏̡o͏͝p͟p̡͘e̶d̢͘ ̶h̷̵̷i҉̕͢m͏̶̡,̴̕ ̨͢he͟ ̴͢w̕͏i̕͡l͘͟͠l͢͡ ̛b̧e̢͞ ̨́͞à̶͢ņ̛ u̸̧͞n̵s̴̛̕t̨abl͏e҉̨ ͏v̸́a̴rì̡a҉̵͟b͜͠ļ̵͘e

    ‹|Nervous|›

Freya stood stepped in the door to see Tucker sitting across the table from Evan. Just how often did Evan hang out at the café? She didn't think anything of it. As Freya made her way over to the table she could make out that they were talking about Christmas. The moment Tucker noticed her he jumped up to greet her. She always loved the goofy ways he got excited to see people.

Freya! Hey good morning! Did you walk all the way? Hope the weather wasn't too bad!

She opened her mouth to tell him things about how she didn't mind the weather, and how she enjoyed the walk over, but with so many people around to hear her say things all she could get out was
    Hi...

She blushed for a second of embarrassment, and broke eye contact with Tucker, taking a glance at Evan who, in a pair of roller blades in the middle of a café during the cold of winter looked just short of ridiculous.

Oh! Freya! You know Evan right? He stopped by at the café for coffee... of course... and then kept me company while I waited for-

Mid-sentence Tucker's phone began to buzz, as Tucker looked at the phone his eyes widened a bit and a goofy smile crept on his face. Freya wondered who it was on the other line, and nervously crossed her arms. I̷t ͡i̷͘͠s͡ h͘͜è̢͢r͜,̧ ̢҉yǫu̵̵̵ ̶k͡ǹ͠o̵w̴ ̵̀͝i͘͞t ̨i̸̢s̡̕ ̨̧h́e͏ŗ

Freya just nodded a bit. She tried to think about what she was going to order while Tucker took the call. She didn't want to think about who it could be on the other side of the-

    Hey Maria! Good morning!

Freya's heart sank. She was afraid it was her. She knew Tucker and Maria were close friends, and she'd seen the way that she interacted with him. Freya let out an almost inaudible whimper, she hoped no one had heard. Y̴o̕u ͟m̴̡ų͞st̨̛ d̷o͡ ̕͜s̵͜͟o҉͝m̢̛͢e̵̡t̛ḩ͢ìn̴͠͝g ҉̴t̵͜o̡ ̢̛̀s̴̢t͢op̸ ̢͝t̢҉̛h͠is͢

Tucker stopped short, it seemed like she had hung up on him. Freya was a bit happy about this, perhaps there was a problem between them.
So, everything alright on the other end?
Evan asked, inquisitively. Freya continued to avoid eye contact with Tucker.
Uh, y-yeah! Absolutely. Everything's alright. Um. Yeah...
Tucker put on a smile, but Freya could see through it, he was truly concerned about Maria. Thi̛͠s̸ ҉wil̡͢͜ĺ͜ ͟no͜t͢͜ e͏n̨d͘ ͏w̵è̡ll̷,̵͡ ̶h҉͡e̡̕͠ ͜͝is̀ ͝ć̡͘o͡n͡f̵l̨͝͞ìc̢͘͏t̕͢é̢͡d̸͢
Hey, thanks for keeping me company, man. Sorry but we've got things to take care of but we should definitely hang out again soon. I've missed you!
Tucker gave him a small jab to the shoulder.
I'll try the blades one day, but you keep rolling! It was really great to see you again. Have a good day!
Tucker stepped over to Freya and put a hand on her shoulder. She tried not to blush at the very touch of his hand.
We should get something to eat. Sorry for not responding to your text earlier, I didn't want to rush you if you knew I was already eating.
He explained as they walked over to the counter to order.
    I-it's fine, I'm sorry I was late...
Tucker didn't seem to mind. They ordered their meals and sat down, Freya, with a modest omelette, and Tucker with an elaborate looking pile of french toast, they began to eat. Freya took note that Evan was only a short distance away at another table. Rather, less that she took note, and more to the effect that he made so much noise as he rolled around the café it would have been impossible for anyone not to be aware of his location. He had his back turned to them, but he was quite obviously attempting not to make very much noise. Was he always this obvious when he eavesdropped?
After a brief moment of enjoying his food, Tucker broke the silence.
So what did you want to talk about?
Tucker smiled, with a bit of syrup still hanging out of the corner of his mouth. Freya blushed at how stupid she felt for thinking that was cute.
I-I wanted to know what you think of me...
    She nervously blurted out.
    What do you mean? Um..what??

Tucker looked a bit frazzled he was nervously tapping his fork on his plate trying to think of what to say..
Uh, Um. I-I don't hate you. I'd never hate you. Um. Um.
She began to sink in her chair, she had hoped he would have been as bold as her. She'd hoped he would have accepted her instantly. Y̧o͡u̷͜ ҉̡w̸̕i̡ll̡͝ ̨͟͏l̴o̷͟͠s̵e͟͢ h̴̀͢į͜m if҉̢ y̷͜ou̶͘ ͘͘͡do̷n͘͜'t͜͟͏ ̴ú́͡s̷̕e̵ ͏͘i̡͘ţ̡

Freya tried to hold back her tears, but it was a bit too much for even her to keep a handle on, as her eyes began to well up. Tucker noticed this and reached out to touch her arm.
Hey, hey. Um. Er. I-I'm not angry. No, d-don't worry. Um. Wow. Uh. You know maybe you're just c-confused or something. Um. A-are you sure you're alright?
Freya wiped her eyes with the wrist of her sleeve for a second and simply whispered.
    Not without you...
Tucker seemed flustered even more still, he stood up and moved over to her side of the table.
Hey, d-don't cry. Shhh, it's alright. We'll hang out more i-if you want?
He seemed to be completely ignoring her confession, was she really not anything special to him? Was his relationship with Maria more than just a close friendship to him? Y͜o͢͝͝u͡ ͢͡c̛a͠nno͏t ̸́͞w͘i̶̧̡n h̢i͢͞s̡͟ ̢͠ḩ̶̴è̷a͘rt̕ b̷y͠҉̷ ͏͜yo͝͠u͘͠͠r͢͏s̶elf̸̶͝

Tucker looked conflicted, he probably didn't want to leave a sobbing mess, but he was always one to do what people asked of him. As he stood up reluctantly to leave he put a hand on her shoulder.
    A-alright..
Tucker slowly took a few steps back and then quickly headed out and got in his car. Instead of immediately taking off she could see he sort of sat there for a moment, looking down. Freya was going to freak out, she had to do something she needed a plan. She looked across the table and almost instantly, her tears stopped and her face became cold and somber. d̷o ̕҉̧it̵͢
Tucker had just finished typing up a message when he looked up to see Freya standing outside his window, as he rolled it down he noticed she was shaking with fear. It took every ounce of willpower she had to reach out and hand Tucker the coffee he had left behind. Her hand was almost violently shaking.
    You...forgot your coffee...
Tucker looked at her for a moment, she was avoiding eye contact at all costs, her face seemed pale. He reached out and took the coffee, thanking her. She quickly turned around and whispered.
    I'm sorry..
Tucker seemed so confused at all of the events, but he knew she wanted him to leave, he put his car in reverse and pulled out, placing the coffee in the cup holder. Freya turned to watch as he drove off, an empty crystal vial gripped tightly in her hand.

    ‹|??? ??? ???|›

Freya stood in a world devoid of color. Everything around her looked as if the life had been sucked out of it. A short ways away she could see a shadowy figure. She knew this wasn't real. She knew she was in no danger. At least. She hoped.

    S̨o̷͘ ͜y̛̕o̕͟ú͘'͡v͢͝ȩ̡͢ ̷̛́co͠͡m̷҉̕e͘͢ ̶͡h͞e͡r̸̢e̵͘ ̷̨t̢o̴͠ ͢q͜͝͡uè̕͢st͡͡į͢on͡ ̡͡m̡è̀͟.̵

The shadow scoffed as Freya approached.
    What are you?

The figure turned its head almost unnaturally far to meet her gaze.

Freya paused for a moment, contemplating what that could mean.

    What are you here for?
The figure turned away and stared off at something Freya could not see.

Freya was confused. This thing didn't seem like it could help anyone with anything other than a night terror contest.
You're here to help? The last time we met you didn't seem to be of very much "help".
The shadow turned to her, giving Freya an immensely uneasy feeling.

Thinking back, she remembered, almost too vividly for a dream, the events of the night prior, from what she could gather, she understood what the apparition meant.
Then I ask of your help.
Freya didn't think much of trusting this...thing, whatever it was, however, what could it truly do to her in her own mind?

Freya awoke gasping for air, the sting of being impaled still fresh in her mind. She was going to have to find better ways of getting up in the morning. She remembered she had to meet Tucker at the café, and quickly got ready and headed out the door, Enywas in tow. As she jogged down the sidewalk in the direction of the café, she sent a text to Tucker.

Freya waited for a text from Richie that never came.

    Thank god.

She thought to herself, he had wanted to introduce her to someone new and she didn't kow if she could put up with it today. She decided it would be best if she made herself a light dinner and headed to bed. As she was eating, she heard her mobile go off. This was probably Richie with some ridiculous plan to make up for. Finishing her dinner, she headed upstairs, and got ready for bed.

Plopping herself down for the night, she checked her notification. It was from Tucker!

Hey, Freya, you alright? You've been awful quiet and it makes me sad...
Richie put on an obviously exaggerated pout.

    Save it for theatre class.

    She said with a sigh.
Oh and is going to hibachi with Elisa okay with you? I think you would like her...

She almost immediately rejected him, out of instinct, but she knew he had helped her with a problem just now. That, and if she said no he would likely make a scene.

    Fine.

She sighed. As Richie ignored her obvious lamentation of the decision, he told Freya he had to head out, and support Elisa during her audition. Seeing him out, Freya shut the door behind him and got to work cleaning up the kitchen. She had a lot of stuff to think about, and plans to make. SHE WAITED FOR TUCKER TO REPLY TO HER TEXT, DINNY. killing time for a few hours, before heading out to meet Richie and Elisa.

    ‹|Exhausted |›

Freya was just ready when she heard Richie at the door, how was it he always showed up with such perfect timing? She'd never know. She picked up Enywas, who would have been verbally begging for attention, had he the capacity, and placed him on her shoulder, as usual. She made her way to the front door of her small flat.

    Hey, betch.

She barely had the door open before he spoke. She rolled her eyes and pointed in the direction of the kitchen. Richie made a motion as if tipping his hat and hurried inside wearing a huge smile. By the time Freya had made her way back into the kitchen, Richie had already somehow managed to pull out a pile of ingredients, place them neatly in order, assemble the necessary pots, bowls, and utensils. To top it all off he was already wearing her apron. Just how slowly was she walking? She wondered.

She made her way to a stool on the other side of the island in the kitchen, and sat down, knowing that she'd probably just get in his way. As he started mixing ingredients, she began the conversation.

So, I wanted to talk to you about a guy.

Richie's eyes lit up and a smile beamed from his face.

OMG, give me all the deets!

    He practically shrieked with excitement.

Well you know tucker? I kind of have this huge thing for him, and I'm not sure if he reciprocates the feeling.
She asked, watching as he deftly tossed ingredients and utensils around, as if he were putting on some sort of performance.
Oh? Well, honestly, I think you should tell him, but only when the time is right. The worst that can happen is him saying no, right?
Well, I've waited for years, Richie, and I don't know if I can wait any longer...we planned to get coffee the other day, that's why I was at the café, and I was going to tell him then, but I'm not so sure anymore...if it's a good idea....
What makes you think that? Do you think you're not... good enough for him? Because if you do think that, then you're wrong. You're a great person and I think Tucker will be able to see that!
He stops for a brief moment and looks directly at her.
It's better to try than never know right?
Well, that's the other thing...I might not need to try...
She looks away and fumbles with something in her pocket. Richie looks somber for a moment and gives her a look that asks her to meet his gaze.
    ...what do you mean?
    She leans in a bit.
    Can you keep a secret?
Of course, Freya, you know my lips are always sealed.
She takes out the crystal vial filled with mysterious liquid and puts it on the counter.
Promise not to laugh but...I think I can MAKE him fall-
Richie leans back and continues to mix, cutting her off.
With... Cupid's Brew? I had some once, I know what it can do...
She is flabbergasted for a moment.
    Wh-WHAT? You knew about it?
He begins to drone off, as if reliving a bad memory.
Yeah, I was planning on using on... someone...but I lost it, maybe it was for the best...
    He sighs.
But do you really think that's the best idea?
She fumbles around uncomfortably in her seat.
I don't even know if I believe it works...but...something...keeps telling me I should try it
Freya looks off to the side, as if something recent was troubling her.
Go for it, then. But I think you should first tell him how you feel....then slip it to him if he rejects you!
He chuckles, as if to say he's only half serious.
Who knows, he may like you of his own volition, then there's no need for the Brew! It's best to know beforehand.
It's obvious to Richie that Freya is struggling with the moral implications of the whole situation.
I suppose you're right, but...what if he does reject me after all. Is it fair, Richie, to make someone love you?
    He contemplates for a moment.
Well, personally, no, I don't think so. To be honest, I'm kind of glad I lost my Brew.
He looks at the vial sitting on the counter and picks it up for a moment, examining it.
But if you really have such deep feelings for him. Feelings strong enough to make you do anything to have him...then this is the right choice.
He says, as he puts it in her hand, and closes her fingers around it.
But that means I'm the only one with a choice...but...I can't stand it, Richie, the thought of him being with someone else.
She holds the vial up and looks at it, thinking for a moment.
You're right..it may be the most selfish thing in the world, but...I have to do it.
She looks over at him, as he begins pulling pastries out of the oven. Without breaking from his task, he reassures her.
You do what's best for you, and it will make you happy...yes, it's selfish, but you honestly have strong feelings for him, and seem determined to have him. I think someone with that much resolve deserves someone like him..
She focuses her attention on Enywas, who is attempting to sneak his way over to the pastries that are cooling on the island. She pinches a small morsel off of one and puts it in front of him.
Th-thanks Richie...Hey, maybe if it doesn't work out with Tucker, I can slip this into one of your drinks.
    He chuckles for a moment.
Funny...I wish you all the best dear, and I hope everything goes your way.
As the hours pass by, the two of them continue to talk and munch on the delicious snacks that Richie had prepared.
