1000 bytes = 1kb. I could make a sig that size for you if you wanted, but good luck being able to see it. It'd be one awfully small sig.
Case and point: Two Jedi of *equal skill* with the force face each other: Who wins? The old-nearly-dead-from-crappy-age one? Or the youthful-vibrant Jedi? The younger, more healthy Jedi will win. You completely miss the point of my post when I said "in its definitive sense". Yeah, how's that for a thread revival.
OOC: Scorn Approved. (A little late, but given circumstances and current progression, I'll allow it)
OOC: White_Rook: Approved. You may now participate as you wish.
OOC: Like Kagiya said, it's my fault that I didn't provide an alias for Aelthir to use, so many of you probably didn't pick up on it, but Aelthir is an individual who *needs* to keep a low profile. Giving out his real name to strangers on the street isn't very feasible, and he will most likely have his bodyguards carrying out tasks for him if it's possible to keep him hidden. For now, Aelthir's alias will be Laryth Varlas. Please try to remember Aelthir's position for future reference. Thanks! ------------------- There was only one place to be at this particular hour of the day in Valdeaunia, and being part of the human race--creatures of habit by nature--the nimble mouthed Korwyn slowly made his way to a local pub at the far side of Estavel, the same one he had visited at the same hour each day for the past few weeks. These visits were greatly dependent on whether or not he met his quota of daily monetary success, and today was also no exception for the professional swindler who leisurely tossed a single ghel piece up and down his hand as he progressed down the street. Pick-pocketing wasn't anything exceptional; there were many who were much more talented than he was at it, but having succeeded to score quite a hefty amount by use of a skill that he considered himself weak with warranted much silent appraisal from the young thief on his own efforts. With his destination finally coming into his sights, Korwyn quickly picked up his pace after spotting a few familiar individuals sitting idly at a corner of the pub. Only after recognizing their faces, an impish grin lit up the corners of Korwyn's lips as he headed over to greet them, possible shenanigans yet again in mind. "Nealth! Hevalsa! Fancy meeting you here!" Korwyn greeted with a brimming smile, quickly pulling up a chair to sit with his two attendants. The ones named Nealth and Hevalsa turned their attention toward their unexpected visitor. Despite the manner in which Korwyn presented himself to the pair of older men before him, his greeting was reciprocated with far less enthusiasm--rather, Korwyn's presence seemed troublesome. "You really ought to learn when to use those fake imitations of yours," Nealth grumbled softly as he slumped in his chair, evidently hung-over. "Having to see such glaringly insincere performances are undeserving." "Well that's not nice," Korwyn crossed his arms, raising an eyebrow. "How do you know I wasn't genuinely happy to see you?" "Fat chance," Hevalsa chuckled to himself. "It's hard to feign innocence with a record like yours. Your ability to generously share misfortune is beyond comprehension." "Hey, don't be like that," Korwyn started. "I bought you a nice wool tunic the other day, didn't I?" "You mean the one you stole?" Hevalsa corrected. "I was apprehended by the district militia while I was shopping at Renalyn's and charged for property theft! I lost a great deal of money thanks to you and now I'm no longer allowed to step foot in her shop!" Korwyn darted his eyes off to the side. "Wasn't I the one who bailed you out of prison?" "After blackmailing the guard with infidelity!" Hevalsa barked. "I hope you do realize the point I'm trying to make here." "Forget about it, Hev," Nealth waved his hand, yawning between words. "There's no hope for boys like Korwyn. Once they reach a certain point, the process is irreversible." "Says the eternally-single-middle-class drunkard who hasn't managed to stay sober for more than a day at a time," Korwyn smirked. "I must really be at my end if I've gained pity from such a person." "Hold your tongue, boy!" Nealth hissed. "Just you wait, I'll score a beauty that scum like you can only dream of having!" Korwyn tilted his head, a look of perusal on his face. "Wait a minute... wasn't it your birthday a few days ago?" "Yeah, what's your point?" "It's your fifty-seventh one, right?" Korwyn lifted a finger with realization. Nealth furrowed his brows angrily. "Hahaha!" Hevalsa laughed. "Your words are potent with poison, young Korwyn." "It's not funny!" Nealth scoffed icily before raising his fists at Korwyn. "Get out of here you *******!" Korwyn let out an amused chuckle as he hopped nimbly to his feet, dodging a poorly executed punch from the older gentleman as he nearly fell off his chair from such terrible form. Korwyn then turned to leave. "Feel better soon, Nealth," Korwyn said. "Try having a cold glass of water. You might find there are other drinks out there just as delicious." "Keh, what do you know," Nealth muttered. And by his leave, with a cheeky smile serving as his means of farewell, Korwyn set off back into the streets of Valdeaunia, raising his arm momentarily to wave at the two older men--both who had become slightly more agitated after having their encounter with the mischievous thief of Estavel.
Meh, today's update was okay. Still no Snake final smash <.< >.>
Alright guys. RP starts right now, but before you take off with your posts, there are a few housekeeping items to take care of so make sure you read these points before you begin posting. I'll be placing this information on the front page as well, but to save some of you the trouble of going back to the front page after seeing this post, I'll write it here. For those of you who've yet to submit a bio or make your edits: The RP has started, however, I will still allow RP submissions today and tomorrow at the very latest. If you do not make your submission (or make the fixes I've asked very promptly of you) by the end of the 21st, depending on the circumstances I'm going to have to deny you participation in the RP. Due to the nature of this RP, waiting until Saturday to submit an bio may end being too late depending on how far in the RP we're in. I've allowed ample amounts of time for people to get their bios in, so drawing the line two days after the RP has started is not unreasonable. Bear in mind that until your bio is approved, you cannot post in the RP. Fix/submit your bio and wait until it is approved before you post. I will not take this lightly if people do not follow this instruction. Guidelines/Rules on how to control story characters: There are a few things I want all of you to keep in mind when interacting with story characters (more specifically: Aelthir (and his subordinates), Ariya Solanea, Dhobar Gibkoug and Theranraila Eyllanlith): - Try to keep them as very much in character as possible. The intro post you will soon read contains scenes using all four story characters so feel free to use the first post as a reference to as to how you write your scene when interacting with any of them. Naturally, I'm not expecting perfect imitations since everyone's interpretations vary, however, try not to stray too far from their character sketches. Important - when someone has taken control of a story character (by interacting with him/her) in their posts before anyone else has, they have "claimed" the character's attention and cannot be unclaimed until they have dismissed the character from their scene. If you wish to interact with a character that has currently been claimed, you must either: wait until the poster has clearly dismissed the character from their scene, thus allowing the story character to be 'claimed' again. you must enter your character in the same scene as the one told/described by the current claimer Ex. If someone claimed Aelthir and 'saw him in the marketplace in Mhaura', if you want to interact with Aelthir as well, you must either wait until the poster has explicitly dismissed Aelthir from the scene (ex. character leaving the marketplace, or Aelthir leaving the marketplace) or place your character in the marketplace in Mhaura as well (ex. while poster and Aelthir are taking in the marketplace, your character will enter the scene and interact with them as well) This system might be confusing for some, but I'm sure it'll make much more sense once it's been used in application. One final rule: At some point, all of you will have to have a 'first encounter' with Aelthir if you have plans to take part in his ascension (be it good or bad purposes). There is a simple requirement for this 'first encounter' post: - During your first encounter, you must dismiss yourself or Aelthir at the end of the post. In other words, you will meet Aelthir and say goodbye all in the same post. The reason for doing this is so that Aelthir does not remain in someone's possession for more than that post. Keeping possession of a character for more than one post will be fine in the future, however, for the 'first encounter' posts to run smoothly, I ask that all of you dismiss Aelthir promptly from your scene at the end of it. And that's all! Thanks for reading! -------------------------------------------- At the end of a long wooden table--frivolously polished and embroidered with extravagance--three distinguished individuals sat silently in their seats as they mindfully exchanged glances of boredom, annoyance or concern. At the head sat the lankily built Lord Theranraila, with his co-leaders Lady Ariya and Lord Dhobar waiting impatiently for their colleague to begin the meeting, the one he had some promptly called during the middle of the day. While they knew such short-notice meetings happened every now and then, and it was their obligation to duty to immediately prioritize them above their other tasks, neither Lady Ariya nor Lody Dhobar had any intention to hide their resentment for such bothersome events. "Soooo... care to share the news, Theran?" Ariya tossed her elbows onto the table's surface. "This had better be good! I was so close to beating Reftae's record in flame-bursting until this happened!" "You're still playing those silly games?" grumbled a nonchalant Dhobar, his words being somewhat mumbled by his indecent open-mouthed chewing. "What a waste of time." "I don't want to hear that from a magickless glutton!" Ariya stuck her tongue out indelicately. "And you should feel ashamed; eating such extravagant food during the middle of the day. " "Ariya, Dhobar," came Theranraila's calm and calculating tone. "If the two of you want to leave here sooner, I suggest you wait until after I finish speaking." In agreement of being dismissed as soon as possible, Ariya and Dhobar immediately ended their quarrel, turning their chairs to face Theranraila. "I was wondering if any of you heard any rumours circulating around your districts lately," Theranraila inquired, a hint of concern lingering in his voice. "Rumours? What sort of rumours? Like people dying and stuff?" Dhobar asked with a smile, taking another bite into his chicken leg. "I like those kinds of rumours." "Idiot," Ariya muttered under her breath. "People die in your district all the time. I hardly think death in Mhaura qualifies as a rumour. People 'living' on the other hand, now there's something!" "What of you, Ariya?" Theranraila turned to his other co-leader. "I hear the streets of Verlest have been plagued with interesting tales lately." Ariya shrugged. "Well, members from my militia tell me there seems to be an uprising in the works." "Haha! You call that a rumour?" Dhobar laughed heartily, some bits of chicken skin flying from his mouth. "There's been like... twelve uprisings in Verlest over the past two months!" "What are you thinking, Ariya?" Theranraila questioned further. "While it's true there have been many uprisings in Verlest, they've been insignificant because we've been able to detain the culprits with very little difficulty," Ariya explained. "And this one?" "It's been already three weeks since word spread of another uprising, but so far we have no leads," Ariya explained before slumping back in her seat, crossing her arms. "Well, it might just be a false rumour. I've already sent my Royal Guards to investigate the matter in town. If nothing comes up, I'm just going to ignore the entire thing completely." "Well, what do you know so far?" Dhobar asked. Ariya closed her eyes, uninterested in details. "Only that they seem to have many connections all over the city, but no one will fess up to that. Bunch of liars." Theranraila nodded to himself. It would seem things were still in the clear, at least, for now. * * * A young man gazed aimlessly through a dusty glass window as feelings of uncertainty lingered in his mind. The past three weeks had been met with relative success, although success for many was simply being alive at the end of each day. Such low standards were to be expected at this point, however. The current state of Valdeaunia didn't allow much freedom for their cause and even less options upon which to act; a plan that had been in the works for over a decade still saw many problems when it was finally put underway. The young man pondered the possibilities for such short-comings, but every time he spared a moment to indulge in such thoughts, the same reasons kept coming back to him. He had met with very few of his supporters over the past twelve years, and while it was not completely his fault for being unable to do so, it was certainly affecting the morale of the people who risked their lives for the cause. He had decided that the first plan of action was to make personal rendezvous with the many bases around the city, hoping that would alleviate most of the doubts and at the same time, make a proper assessment of how much of the city was under his control. These things were all important, and taking these steps one day at a time was the best way to accomplish his objective; there was only one chance to get it right. "Lord Aelthir," came a voice from behind the young man. "What is it, Lieutenant?" he asked calmly, his face still facing the window. "The base in Mhaura has been secured. We'll be ready to depart in a few minutes." The young man nodded before turning half of his body toward his subordinate, light from the window illuminating some details of his face. "Thanks for your hard work." "Permission to speak freely, my Lord?" "What is it, Lieutenant?" Aelthir asked curiously. "I don't think it's a good idea for you to personally make a visit to the Mhaura base," his subordinate began. "The district is littered with crime, and there are too many dangerous individuals who could endanger your life." "Is that not the nature of this entire mission?" Aelthir responded. "That's..." came the softened reply. "I appreciate your concern, Lieutenant," Aelthir began. "But this is something I have to do. There's no other option." A slight pause followed the end of Aelthir's words before the guard lowered his head. "Understood. Please come to the entrance when you're ready." Aelthir nodded agreeably at his subordinate's direction before turning back to face the window, hearing the door close quietly behind him.
That'd be more of a re-titling than a translation. There's no way the original Japanese would translate into that. lol.
23 characters confirmed so far. Mario, Link, Zelda, Yoshi, Pikachu, Kirby, Fox, Samus, Pit, Wario, Snake, Dedede, DK, Zero Suit Samus, Metaknight, Ike, Sonic, Pokemon Trainer, Lucas, Diddy Kong, Peach, Ice Climbers... and Bowser.
And count on them Japanese to unlock every cranny as soon as possible. Besides avoiding anything Smash Bros Brawl related on the internet, stay off the WiFi. With Japan having a good 17 days to play Brawl before North America gets their hands on it... With Anyone matches will be dangerously filled with surprises. ;D
True, but Sonic's inclusion contributed to a whole lot of hype for Brawl. Revealing Sonic to the public and milking the excitement of his inclusion definitely trumps a 'giddy surprise' that would probably last a few minutes at most, if you ask me. Then again, I'm a person who really couldn't care less if they revealed the entire roster before launch.
RP's being delayed until tomorrow--unless by some fleeting chance I change my mind. Sorry guys.
I think he means "10 to 9" as in 8:50PM. Therefore he's worried maybe perhaps it'll be far too late where he is when the RP gets started (assuming it starts today).
My mistake then. For some reason, I tended to see you online a lot after 10PM EST my time, so I thought EST evenings were fine. Maybe I'm mistaken about that too. Anyway, about 6 1/2 hours until I'm done the the fall term. Off to studying again, I go.
It's just another stage that floaty characters will excel on. Nothing unusual. ;p
Haha, it's really up to you. As much as I want diversity, I don't want people changing characters if they're not going to enjoy them. If you feel you can have just as much fun RP'ing as a Knight (or any of the other neglected job classes like Merchant, Scholar or Blacksmith) then by all means go for it. But don't feel pressured to try to make the RP more diverse if you're just gonna get uninterested and drop out after 2 posts since that's just worse.
Final Mixes are almost always produced if there was a large fan reception to wanting one. Thus, Final Mixes are decided upon some time after a game's release. This question is being asked too early. It might, it might not. But not many handheld titles I know have received director's cut versions.
Repliku: Bio's fine, just a small note on your Magick element. As much as I would've liked to include other 'elements' like Ice, Lightning, Dark, Light, etc, I didn't want magick to be a collosal part of the game's mechanics and thus kept it isolated to the four traditional ones; Fire, Wind, Water, Earth. To stay uniform with this, your 'Ice' element will have to be changed. For the most part, Ice is pretty much a manipulation of water, so changing Alish to having Water affinity might still suit your purposes. And since nobles usually are able to manipulate two of the four elements, if you wanted to justify Ice magick, it could be a combination between Water and Wind mastery (however, at its core, it's still primarily Water manipulation). If you can change your magick ability to one (or two) of the four elements I outlined, that'd be great and your bio will be ready to go. The moment you edit your magick to one (or two) of the elements I've prescribed, consider yourself approved and begin posting (if I give my co-leader to 'okay' to begin the RP without me while I'm at my exam). darkriku: Approved. --------------------- Finally, some Knights. I was almost going to remake my character (as unwilling as I was) into a Knight if none were going to show up.
All you need to know is that Aelthir and his supporters have already begun their movement to take Valdeaunia. Either myself or Kagiya will make the first post of the RP, which will set Aelthir's journey in motion. It will be brief since for the most part, everyone's role in this RP is one of their choosing. How and when you encounter Aelthir for the first time is completely up to you as well. Tomorrow I'll post the guidelines regarding how to control story characters, as well as how to write your first encounter with Aelthir (there's a small requirement for that post alone) then if it's possible to start the RP, we will. Just bear in mind that my final tomorrow is at 7PM EST and won't end till 9PM at the latest, so I probably won't be getting home until well after 10PM tomorrow night. This might be optimal for some people who live in certain time zones (like Jade) if the first post arrives around that time. Just keep a look out tomorrow for a starting post. If not tomorrow, Thursday for sure.
