It's considered fanfiction if you're using settings and/or characters that you didn't create. That's when it goes from original to fan works. It doesn't matter if you write an AU fic of Sasuke and Sakura from Naruto meeting for the first time in a desert in a completely different universe with completely different histories and back stories where they're not ninjas but merchant travelers and in the end save the world from a giant mutated Octopus that can piss radioactive uranium from its eyes. If you take a character that you didn't create (but rather, you *changed* the character completely), it's still fanfiction.

AU fics are generally harder to write because a lot of backstory info is required to fill in missing gaps, and quite frankly, if you write fanfiction, you have to be consider yourself a 'little' lazy. Of course, you could take the story of KH2 and rewrite the entire story and that would be considered AU as well despite you being in the same setting, having the same villains, same worlds and same characters and their personalities, but I'd say no one really tried it because it'd just be boring.

    And it's 'canon'. XD

I fail to see how I did that. On the contrary, my post is probably the least ass-kissing one there is in this thread so far.

What I meant was that Euro release dates haven't really changed since the N64 days. It shouldn't have surprised anyone that Brawl would take a few months to hit Euro after it hit NA, since it's been this way since way before this generation of gaming (It was like that for N64 and Gamecube days). That being said, if I lived in Europe and the Wii was just announced to the public, I would've simply imported a North American Wii from the very beginning instead of getting a Euro one at launch. I wouldn't care about not being able to play PAL versions since I would be literally importing all my games from NA (months before they hit Euro shelves). What I'm suggesting here wouldn't require modding Wiis at all, but rather, you're completely immersing yourself in a different market.

And because you'd be buying a game that's in a language you speak, I don't see any problem whatsoever in doing so. And I *know* there are NTSC TVs over there, so having said that, becoming a NTSC gamer living in Europe isn't difficult. You might spend extra money on every title you buy because of shipping, but personally I would think it's well worth the few months in advance that you get the game.

I remember the first time I saw the Bongo Bongo text appear on my screen. I nearly died of laughter remembering the innuendo. DEATH BY BONGO BONGO.

We all love Xaldin, though. He's the guy who'll accidentally shut off the power in a hospital, then scream from the bottom floor "Sorry! I didn't know what this machine was and I was curious! I'll have it back up in a second!"

Cell phones in Japan are far more advanced than others, for starters.

And besides, many people could very well have the same argument about Final Mix+ or the first Final Mix, saying it's 'not necessary' or Nomura's trying to 'get us all to spend our money for 'bugus' games like this'.

And there lies the answer to your own question; you said it yourself: "it just doesn't seem interesting to me at all."

Anything that isn't interesting to you will seem pointless. I'm sure anyone who didn't care about the new Data Fights or extra cutscenes in KH2: Final Mix+ would've considered Final Mix+ a waste of money and an 'unnecessary' title.
