bug anyone else when the image on the spine of a book has been printed off-center why does this happen and why does it kill me a little inside
definitely. it's strange that as big as a sci-fi fan as i am, for some reason i never made the connection between science fiction and comics in my head. i've been focusing on dc so heavily recently that i forgot image and other independent publishers existed as well har. but i can't wait to read these. i glanced through them and they look like what i'm all about. the guy i help out at the store also sold me on East of West. gonna go back and get those trades and Sex Criminals (because at this point I feel genuinely guilty for not having read the second one yet). i have the same thing. i will not shop from other people unless my store just doesn't have it at all. i'm loyal to my comics dealer.[DOUBLEPOST=1438394359][/DOUBLEPOST] a shining example of why i love justin. every sentence he says is a riot.
my work space is empty got Black Science volumes 1 and 2 and Low volume 1 today. and i had no idea Hacktivist was getting another series. how fortuitous to go in there when it's new, just happen to walk by it, and there be only one left.
so my boss isnt here today and her boss isnt either. and the next person i would report to sits on the other side of the office. so im basically just chillin today. feels nice not having to worry that someone could be looking over my shoulder admiring my master level slacking speaking of slacking, what the **** cn theres STILL no regular show season 3 blu ray? its been over a year since the dvd came out. are you alergic to money???
i uh... i kind of like green day. Spoiler View attachment 42736 went crazy for a bit and bought everything here that's not 21cbd, Idiot, and Nimrod in the span of two weeks.
oh my god. i ran into an old friend i hadn't seen since i was in 8th grade in the store. this is the person who's responsible for me liking comics. i would go over to his house and we would read through boxes of stuff. and he's still around here. we talked for a little while i alphabetized books for 4 hours (I can't even think right now. does e come before n?) and it was incredible. it's so great to not only meet up with an old fried after all these years, but also find someone with the same interests who i can talk to (first time i've been able to bounce around writer's names in a conversation) irl, and what's more, it's the person i grew up reading comics with. so. cool. and even crazier, he's going to be going to the same school i just transferred from. that kind bums me out but still cool i guess.
i just got a job(?) at my local comic shop. 3-7 on Wednesdays. they won't pay with money but they will pay with comics. i don't know what to call it. it's not a job but it's not a volunteer position either because i'm being compensated for my four hours. excited regardless.
i am the best youtube editor on khv
its nomura right
there were only 2 pieces left
so that's why i ran through my wall at top speed after aggressively stuffing my face with a couple slices
pizza hut is actually addicting
walk is so emotionally poignant that it's no contest not even a valid question for me. but the pretender is a pretty solid and enjoyable tune so to each his own i suppose
no plan here, just Garden of Words.
For me all of this is secondary to story. The meat, the actual content of the thing. I prefer comics because they give me more control over the experience. I don't need voice acting, music, animation, or even color if the story itself is doing it's job and sucking me into the world it creates. A preference is a preference, but I would encourage anyone who doesn't have a preference to research each variation and determine which medium they would like to experience a thing in as much as I would discourage being averse to reading. Comics are often likened to story boards. They are snapshots of events for the reader to visualize and fill in the gaps. Manga's approach to the comic is even more reader-friendly. It (generally) uses more space to illustrate motion and dynamic interaction with more intuitive panel layout on each page resulting in a more immediate understanding with fewer gaps needing filled. I understand that words on a page can be a pretty intimidating thing, but comics aren't actual books and are very easy (and super fun) to read. For my entertainment, there's really no reason to not read them. I get bored sitting and watching something. i mean isn't that what all of these ongoing series are doing? or are you talking about SE? sure yeah i'd love to see it adapted fully. make a new one from the beginning so all of that infinitely inferior bs from the original show doesn't matter at all
oh man post vacation blues are pretty intense this year yet i'm still somewhat excited to get back to life. feel refreshed[DOUBLEPOST=1438047127][/DOUBLEPOST]work on the guide to exploring comics i talked about has started. so don't any of you *******s steal my idea. i mean this in the most loving of ways. one sentence down. i want to go all out with this. it may end up being more ambitious than a couple tips for comics warrants, but hey, indulge me. i want it to be nice. Walk by Foo Fighters gets me every time. favorite song by them probably.
i did not know this
Also the natural response to Final Crisis. I love it and I love pretending like I know what' going on. I wish the Fourth World Omnibuses weren't so pricey.
