So I began a new game in Final Fantasy X

For those who are unaware of my history with this game, I have had it for probably about five or six years now, and still cannot beat it. I have made two serious attempts in the past and got caught at Mt. Gagazet both times.

Right now I've just finished the very first Blitzball game (despite my failure to actually advance the plot of the game I ****ing adore Blitzball), which I beat (yay!), and am heading to the Temple at Djose.

Any hints on how to supercharge my characters or just general ones are appreciated. 3:

The Bond Between Nobodies

Chapter 1: Enter the Witch

It was another day like any other, except one thing was different. I usually just sit in my chair all day long, ignoring all the others arguing and chatting. Something was different that day, and that something was a girl. She was just there, no introduction, and she hadnâ€™t said a thing the whole time she was there. I had been staring at her for some time, what a strange but beautiful girl. Of course she was going to notice me watching her, she finally looked up but didnâ€™t blush, she didnâ€™t look away in embarrassment, she just stared back at me looking into my eyes as I was hers. Her hand was moving in amazing motion on her sketch pad, I wondered what she was drawing but I couldnâ€™t look down to see. I was stuck, I couldnâ€™t move at all, itâ€™s like my whole body is being controlled to fixate in the same position. Her hand stopped and I can move. A coincidence, or maybe?

Chapter 1: The Encounter

â€œNo, no, no . . . come on don't do this to me, not right now!!,â€ the Doctor was flipping switches and turning knobs trying to put the TARDIS back on track. â€œCome on, just a little bit further!! There!,â€ the Doctor settled the machine as it came to a halt with its normal wail. â€œNow, let's have a look at where we are exactly. Oh, the planet with no name . . . well that is technically a name isn't it?? Let's have a look outside shall we?,â€ the Doctor realized that he had no traveling companion with him any longer after he took Martha home. â€œYes well, moving along.â€ The Doctor opened the TARDIS door revealing a planet enshrouded with moonlight, there was no grass on the ground or any forests near by. The planet, by all rights, was considered an unstable world. â€œSuppose I should be moving along then . . . a shame really, such a lovely moonlight.â€ The Doctor had only finished his sentence when a ringing came from back inside the TARDIS.

First Chapter of Story:

It was a calm and peaceful evening on Destiny Islands, which would be either blissful or slightly odd, depending on your point of view.

Sora was about to fall asleep and thought to himself, "I wonder what Kairi is doing..."

Roxas chirped in, "The same thing you are." "What? Falling asleep?" "No, she's probably thinking of you, smart one."

"Hey!"

"Hey yourself."
"whatever,master blah-blah-blah. And, besides I'm usually right about these things. I am a nobody, after all."

"Right. Perhaps if this was elsewhere then yes, but here, no."

"Well........ night."

"G'd Night."

Meanwhile at Kairi's house, Kairi was going over what seemed to be an endlless list of things to do with about five minutes to do them all, or at least it felt way....

"Exam @ 3, Drama Class after lunch, Projects due soon, Sora leaving AGAIN!?!?!"
"Why does always leave when we just get back TOGETHER!?!" "I mean, it's not like I don't have a Keyblade or anything, oh no, it's just that I'm weak, that's the whole problem!"

"Maybe he's trying to protect you, or save you for something like that.", replied Namine, staring out the window overlooking the bay.

"You're right. He just thinks I'm important or something like that."

"Goodnight, Namine."

"Night."

And with that, she faded off into her dream...

In Sora's dream, like, he was on the beach with Kairi, and then, as if out of nowhere, he was on this, weird, stained glass, cylinder? There was someone in a cloak, no, wait, a Organization 13 cloak?
Oddly enough, it's as if there was no voice, but yet a voice, that was coming in piece by piece...
"Hello!?!?!?? Are even here or not?!?", The Voice rang out at Sora.
"Hey! There's no to be upset now... Who are you, and what do you want?", Sora replied back, being confused as to: A, who this was, and B, whatever this persona wanted, it wanted it five minutes ago.

"Me? My name? What do I want? Why would you care about this puppet, left to die one day, alone, and utterly forgotten? But, if want to see my face I might as well...", the Voice trailed off as if it was pausing for something. Something very, very important.

In-between the split seconds when the persona pulled down the hood, and very surprising, showed her face, a Kingdom Key hit Sora square in the stomach, giving the hero enough pain to make him collaspse to his knees in a moment. The next thing he knew, Sora had kneecap hit him straight to his face. He was able to keep his compousre for a little longer, and saw her face. It looked liked Kairi's, but her hair was black, and she held what looked like a Kingdom Key, but instead of a crown, the teeth form an XIV, symbol or something like that.

"Why?, Why... did you do that?", Sora said, half-exhausted from pain, nearly causing his vision to blurr.

"The name is Xion, hero. Remember this puppet well."

Third Chapter:

Kairi quickly got dressed and raced down the stairs as fast she could, nearly falling on her face twice. After hurriedly eating a light fruit salad, she rushed out the door to find Chris, just, standing there. He had one thumb in his right pocket, causally standing on the front lawn.

"You know, you could have tried not to hurt yourself getting ready so quickly...â€ he said, having a slight light tone to his voice.

"Well, that would be easier if-, humph!â€ Kairi stopped herself mid-sentence to give Chris a stern look. And if looks could kill, this one might leave a bruise or two.

"Pardon me, then. Back to the matter at hand...â€

"There's a matter at hand? What exactly is that?"

"Hmmm...â€ Chris paused, apparently in thought. "You see I am here, but not here, at the same time. I am merely projecting my image to your mind. I'll explain later, say, 10'o'clock?â€ Chris replied his voice raising into a more light-hearted tone.
"Um, yeah... I kind of have school then. So, maybe 3-ish?â€ Kairi said back, her voice dropping with hesitation, her face slightly leaning towards the ground.

"Oh, I had already figured you would say something like that."

"You did?" Kairi did a quick mental double-take and thought,

"How did he know that?"

"He just did, I hope, said Namine, if there is another reason, he won't be here much longer..."
"Namine! Have a bit more... less of killing theme?"
"Right." Namine gave a small chuckle, "Says the princess of heart."

"Na.mi.ne! I ought to, but I won't and can't due to being a princess of heart...â€ Unfortunately, the last sentence came flying out of her mouth in a very hurried manner.

"I, uh, didnâ€™t, um say that. You were just... imaging things, and thought I said that, right?"

Kairi's face turned as red as the sun is in the sky. And, mind you, that's a pretty deep shade of red now.
"Lemme guess. You have one of that have-somebody-in-your-head-who's-a-part-of-you-but-annoys-the-living-daylights-out-of-you-and-you-can-do-almost-nothing-about-it, problems? Hmm? I am, correct?"

"How, the heck, did you know that?!?"

Kairi voice shrilled, hands clenched, teeth almost bared, mentally wondering why she done any of that, hoping she gone about it, gentler than she had.

"Now, now no need to have fake anger and all, just relax. I can see Nobodies too, if you need to know."

"You can?"

"I can."

You said 10:00ish, right?"

"I did. So, 10:15, daresay, 10:20?"

"Deal!"

"Fine, then. 10:00ish it is."

School passed by slowly until 10, which had Kairi and her stomach in more knots than Xaldin has in his hair. Luckily, Destiny Islands History was next.

"Excuse me, class. But your History Teacher had to leave on notice so you will be having a substitute teacher for the rest of the week. That is all.â€ The vice principalâ€™s voice clicked off the PA system.
The door opened and... In walked the EXACT same guy, (Exact same, mind you, reader...) Kairi had been talking with earlier in the morning.
The class was rather shocked as well, some gasping, others sighing relief, others puzzled as to who this was.

"It's almost been a year..."
"Hmm?"
"A year. Since things ended."
"Oh...right."
"Ayden?"
"Yeah?"

It was at this point Ayden looked over to the boy lying on the grass beside him. His black eyes were cold, yet his face was glued in a smile. His blond hair rested against his hands, which were holding each other against the back of his head. He wore a blue suit, the sleeves rolled up and the jacket unbuttoned. The other boy sat up, and looked Ayden in the face.

"Do you miss it? Do you miss the heroism, the thrill of fighting with everything on the line?"

Ayden stared into his eyes for a moment, a wave of nostalgia washing over his mind. He shook his head, breaking the other boy's gaze and looked to the water below. He could see his reflection gazing back at him. His creamy, light brown skin appeared hazy in the water. Though, he could still see his clothes clear enough, the black hoodie, its sleeves cut off, and the white polo shirt beneath it, whose short sleeves extended through the sleeveless hoodie down to his elbow, were relatively clear. His face was soft, and the reflection made it look like it was so fragile it could be destroyed with a single touch. He could see his spiky hair, two bangs in the front, then multiple tiny spikes running down the side until they conglomerated in the back of his head, and he could see his light brown eyes, hanging there like glistening spheres of light in the middle of his murky face.

Sight is a heedless illusion. Vision is a wave that pulls apart shapes and reconstructs them into something unnatural. Colors swirl in the cornea's abyss, vomiting a rainbow through the irisâ€™ crystal sieve. You always felt as though everything you saw with your eyes made no sense. The only vision you trusted in was that of your heart. The only sight you could truly say existed was the stars, miniature eyes in the sky. And the force that waved between them, something that joined you with deities and limitless heavens above â€” the lights.

You had first noticed the lights after your mother died. You were seven then, and to everyone else around you, you were the â€œsuffering child with positive outlookâ€. You can remember sitting on the stairs as the black shadows of the front door clawed at your feet. In the ground, you could see the shadowed blurs of people come and go to your house to pay their sentiments. At first their voices were distinguishable, but all of them eventually seemed to conform to the same note; â€œSorry about your wife.â€ Your father was the same at first, emotion running over him like a landslide. Over time, he too, conformed to this dirge.

â€œThank you. I am sure my son will get better as well.â€ You wanted to fight it then. You wanted only to revel in the pain that was your motherâ€™s exhausted flame. My mother is dead, my mother is dead, and sheâ€™ll never come home again. Now she is dead. Yet time was as blind a guide as fate. Memories of your mother were an old photograph, the flow of time slowly fading away the edges. In your mind, her once high definition blue eyes turned to a static green-blue. The perfect white teeth melted into a gray color. Even the color of her skin dwindled from a milk chocolate river into nothing more than a trickle of black. Sometimes on her birthday, you became overtaken with a sense of obligation, to drive down to her grave and pay your respects. You always found yourself lying on a blue checkered blanket, her onyx gravestone shining in the light. What more do I have left to say? The only response you had was left to the crows flying overhead, their cackles filling a void no words ever could.

Walking down a lonely street,

A Rainy Introspection

Stood out here under stormy skies and I realise I am lost
With so many roads, and so many paths, my head is spinning
So many wrong choice, so many lost chances, and I wonder
When did it become so difficult? To know how to live I mean
I breathe in the scent of the rain that hits the concrete
and for a moment its like I'm-
Breathing in my childhood
Rainwater floods my shoes whilst memories flood my mind
And I remember the past,
Hazy
like a late summer evening
I was going to go places; I was supposed to be somebody
Except somehow it went wrong, and I became a nobody
And not even the cool kind, like in the games I used to play
And what do I have to show? For this rainy introspection
A realisation, as I look at my reflection

Midnight Star

What do I do?
Iâ€™ve got to write a poem and I donâ€™t know how to.
My head is a mess and my mindâ€™s in a spin,
Do I rhyme it or not? Is it thick or thin?
I try to remember what I learnt in class,
When I sat behind the guy with the gorgeous ass,
Teacherâ€™s lips moved but I didnâ€™t hear a word,
I only wanted to be his bird.
I try so hard yet I always fail,
Leave me feeling like a trodden on snail,
Squish me into the pavement and throw me away,
I donâ€™t really care what you guys say.

A Deeper Shade Of Shallow

A rogue am I...
I sedate the souls of five days as I dabble in the dark of thirst
I reveal the untold, the unheard, but never the unthought
As the gold flourishes from cage to gutter to possible dreams

Enjoyed though it oughtn't be: a perdition dousing its own flames
I am a vessel cornered into trivialities and questing for rhinestone
Craving more than an illusion but less than actual meaning
I submerge only to rise above me

Though this shines in its own right, I have a truer beacon still
Pursuing me, not in name nor in form, but in spirit
Casting breezes from up high, worth a thousand sentiments
Discreetly guiding me to what I am, to more than this

Her turtle shell eyes that like uncharted islands lie
In worried blue, sickly shed in this ship's wake
A wailing blaze embarks on sailing days
Traversing waters hued a deeper shade of shallow

A return, and a vow for the derelict to be derelict over time
Reflected by her acknowledging this deadlock of needs
To be where the glaring sky meets the churning oceans
In the throes of being absolved with a smile

2011 User Awards: Cycles & Polls
Because there are so many categories in the User Awards, we separate the polls into â€˜Cyclesâ€™. If we did not do this, the polls would all go up at the same time, and users might find it difficult to vote in every single one. With the cycle system, we avoid this, because it is staggered--each cycle lasts 10 days. (Plus it creates suspense).

It would be difficult. Naturally, as everything there was. But Rhia fathomed that if it had been a convenient task, it wouldnâ€™t have been worth the trouble. The resistance was a part of the adventure, she thought, and if there was no hazard, then there was more than likely no rewardâ€”at least not the one they were searching for. And how long had it been? Maybe two to three years on the surface, about a thousand there? Some ridiculous number like that. But this time, it was it. This time, they would make it. They had to.

Where is thereâ€”excuse me, here? Well, this begins in a certain somewhere that doesnâ€™t really exist. Actually, thatâ€™s not entirely true. It exists, to them. Itâ€™s a sort of in-between world, where the spirits who werenâ€™t too bad, or too good end up. A sort of purgatory. At least thatâ€™s what they call it. Thereâ€™s not much to say on it. I mean, how it looks and everything. You must at least have a bitof an idea. It doesnâ€™t look too good, or too bad. Itâ€™s all kind of dead seeming, which is, natural. I really wonâ€™t go into detail about how dead everything looks right now. I really wonâ€™t.

I do, however, feel as though I should tell you who I am. I should tell you who am I and what my obsessions are. This will seem obvious at first, but there is a purpose. I am the narrator. I am the all-seeing, all-knowing creator of worlds, stories, characters. I am the author. I am obsessed with commas, italics, insanity and paradoxes. If you donâ€™t like to be confused, or you donâ€™t like emphasis, I donâ€™t think youâ€™ll like my story. Hell, I donâ€™t think youâ€™ll like me. But my introducing myself to you in such a way does not mean that this story isnâ€™t real. Or that I donâ€™t have anything true to convey to you. Or that Rhia and the Rebellion is a fabrication. I just donâ€™t like pretending like I wasnâ€™t there. Authorâ€™s do that so often. I do wonder what on Earth is so fascinating about telling a story as if you werenâ€™t bloody there. Like youâ€™re some kind of God hidden away in the clouds somewhere, telling someone elseâ€™s tale, when you must have been there to know so much about it. Itâ€™s completely illogical, if you want to know the truthâ€”my truth.

â€œDamn it to bloody hell!â€

A second hadnâ€™t even passed before all eyes were locked on the noisy redhead, conversations ceasing and a cell phone accompanied by a single pen clambering to the floor. A series of piercing green glares returned things back to normal, if not for a bit sluggish with tension. Gwen turned her gaze back to the mirror, frowning at the image before her. Scarlet strands of hair were pulled back into a high ponytail, braids undone and leaving her front side bangs cascading down her cheeks in gentle waves. It wasnâ€™t as though the dress didnâ€™t fit her right, or that it wasnâ€™t the right color or height. It was simply the fact that it was a dress. All of this preparation was, bluntly, freaking her out. Crude as it may have been to exclaim such â€œvulgarityâ€ in the middle of a clothing store, poor Gwen felt it a necessary exclamation. She couldnâ€™t remember the last time she wore a dress, much less a strapless one with lovely floral print.

She always wished looks could kill, or at least fracture a mirror. Maybe then sheâ€™d fine some kind of motivation behind the glassy cracks. She turned away from the furniture, flustered and releasing a high shriek-like groan of exasperation as she clicked and clacked her way back into the dressing room, heels scraping against the tile floor and digging into the carpet to follow. She hastily pulled the plastic band out of her hair, locks tumbling down her back and draping over her shoulder lazily and she unzipped and tugged the cloth from her body.

â€œI donâ€™t have freaking time for this!â€ She moaned to no one in particular, though she was positive there were people listening in on her ranting. She quickly got changed back into her regular outfit for the day (a pair of black skinny jeans and a blue shirt with the grunge print â€˜EX-TAZYâ€™â€”her favorite bandâ€” plastered over the stomach), lifting her legs one by one to remove the heels and striding completely barefoot and frazzled to the nearest check-out stand. After maneuvering right in front an ever-growing line of shoppers and stepping in front of the next customer in line, she curled and snapped her hair band around her wrist like a bracelet and ran her fingers through her hair with a huff.

The customer behind her politely tapped her shoulder as to say something and she just held up her hand and rolled her eyes, making her way over to a cashier and slamming the dress down on the counter. The cashier blinked at you incredulously, tilting her head curiously towards the line of people behind Gwen.

â€œUmâ€¦â€ Gwen glanced behind her shoulder, ever-piercing eyes narrowing and lips pressing together before she turned her attention back the cashier. â€œSomething up?â€

A continuous buzzing on her right thigh made her jump and shudder, a hand instinctively digging through her pocket until grasping the light blue flip phone and using her thumb to flip it open, scowl leaving her lips.

â€œLillian. Update, now.â€ With this, she nodded towards the cashier like nothing was wrong, who reluctantly started to scan and bag her dress.

â€œHeâ€™s there! I told you, I told you, I told you! Now all you have to do is hurry up! â€¦Where are you? ARE YOU STILL AT THE MALL?â€ A shrill voice shouted from the other side of the phone. Clearly this woman was just as shameless as Gwendolyn.

â€œShh, Lily. Youâ€™re stressing me out, Iâ€™m almost there! Stall him for me!â€

â€œMy pleasure, Gwenny.â€ A flirtatious giggle followed.

â€œâ€¦Oh, shut up.â€

With a few more friendly words and a cash exchange, Gwen was out the door and through the mall exit, running barefoot to her car and unlocking it with her free hand, the phone still clasped tightly in place by her jaw and shoulder. She threw the dress into the backseat before climbing there with it and stripping down again as she had in the dressing room. A cry of frustration left her as she struggled to zip the back of the dress up. It would have hugged her curves perfectlyâ€¦if she had had any for it to hug. Unfortunately for her, her body type was skinny and skinnier. Not that she didnâ€™t like being skinny, but it didnâ€™t leave much room for feminine growth. Maybe thatâ€™s why she didnâ€™t find strapless knee-high dresses like this one to be all too worth it.

â€œBut if he likes themâ€¦â€

â€œWhat?â€

A soft blush caused her otherwise pale cheeks to glow pink, eyes cast down to the heels she was currently strapping on. â€œNothingâ€¦â€

â€œAlright, wellâ€¦Iâ€™m going to go stall. Love you, Gwenny.â€

â€œLove you, Lily.â€

Once the phone went silent, Gwen tossed it and climbed back into the front seat, her heart pounding and thoughts racing. As she was pulling out of the parking lot and heading to her destination, she was almost positive she was about to have a heart attack. She mentally checked herself for all of the signs while paying mind to all of the roadâ€™s rules and stoplights. Her finger tapped nervously against the steering wheel.

I suppose I should tell you exactly what poor Gwen was off to do, if you havenâ€™t figured it out by now. This is how most tragedies (and chick flicks) start off, actually. â€˜So, thereâ€™s this guyâ€¦â€™ Not something you havenâ€™t heard before, right? Exactly. And no matter how many stories and movies and poems and songs start off with this fact and end in heartbreak, the same fools keep falling for it. Though sheâ€™s a clever, independent and determined girl, dear Gwendolyn had fallen for the same clichÃ©. There was a guy. Not just any guy, oh no, Gwen had standards. This guy was hot. Movie start hot. Teen drama hot. Not only was he drop dead gorgeous and much too perfect for her, but he was a gentleman. Edward Cullen gentleman. Yup. Oh Gwen, the poor fool. Hook, line and sinker. You would think someone like her would know better.

Well youâ€™re wrong. Here she was, dressed up and dazzling for this hot teen hunk whose name is surprisingly not Brad or Jake, but rather Alejandro. She was hoping to catch him at the park taking his afternoon jog, like usual, and maybe convince him to grab lunch with her; all according to her perfect plan. They were classmates. Not close classmates even, just classmates.

As painful as this may be for those who know better, pay careful attention because here comes the tragedy. As soon as Gwen had parked and hit redial seven or eight times on her cell phone to reach her dear friend Lillian, she realized something was wrong. First, Lily-darling hadnâ€™t answered. She always answered. The second thing that was wrong didnâ€™t even matter at this point, for this was tragic enough. Was she dead?

With a deep breath Gwen cut the engine, wiped her eyes and made sure those blasted heels were fastened tight and properly. She slipped out of the car, smoothing the dress down in the back and slamming the door shut. It was an average enough looking day at the park. Children ran around so wildly that you wondered where on earth the parents were, bums were littered across the green meadows like giant smelly mushrooms, the scent of mountain water mixed and joined with that of the scent of sea salt, and teenagers were placed awkwardly on benchesâ€”lips connected in a heated and primal passion, arms locked around each other. Lovely sight, really. Well, actually, only two teenagers were tangled in each otherâ€™s arms swapping spit and possibly mononucleosis at the moment. Two oddly familiar teenagers.

Gwenâ€™s head cocked to the side like some kind of broken machinery, heels sinking into the plush green beneath her as her eyes locked onto the scene. Her lips parted, eyebrows pushing together in confusion and breath catching on the growing lump in her throat. There was only one comprehensible word flowing and repeating in her brain, her arms lip at the sides of the stupid dress she wore. So, she spoke it.

â€œYouâ€¦Youâ€¦You traitor!â€

Lillian flinched in Alejandroâ€™s mega-buff, tan, bare arms.

â€œJust start at the beginning.â€
â€œRightâ€¦the beginning.â€
A long time ago, a secret project was commenced by the founder of the SOL. The Secret Overworld Liberation front that was to cover for all the expenses that were being secretly forwarded to a laboratory underground. The scientists brought there were working on, or I should rather say, forced to work on a project in which they combined Biotech weapons with deceased human beings. This project was calledâ€¦DBW - Dead Bio Weapons, or what the scientists started calling itâ€¦Gaia. It was just so people wouldnâ€™t feel like they died for nothing. Their bodies would go to a greater purpose when they died. Butâ€¦they were too attached to the project that even the smallest glitch would send thousands of them into madness. We were loosing scientists by the hour so they created meâ€¦Eden. They said I would be their salvation. A way to put the wrongs right and let them begin anew with a different project. The only fault wasâ€¦I couldnâ€™t do much. They had forgotten, in all their eagerness to put Gaia behind them, to give me what most humans have. A heart. Soul, heart, inner essence, whatever you want to call itâ€¦I didnâ€™t have it. For the entirety of what you could call my childhood was spent training and learning how to act human and kill the DBWâ€™s. Unfortunately, an accident occurred the night of my nineteenth year of creation. Soldiers from the government came to check up on where exactly their money was going and I was trying to enjoy my day. I could feel their heartbeats through me as if they were my own. Oh, but donâ€™t worryâ€¦Iâ€™ll tell the story betterâ€¦

â€œItâ€™s raining againâ€¦â€ Eden surprised the black haired man sitting quietly at his desk over a computer screen, â€œOh? How do you know?â€ Eden though the question was rather ridiculous but if he didnâ€™t want to know, he wouldnâ€™t have asked. â€œI can hear the rain hitting the roof and wallsâ€¦itâ€™s aâ€¦sad sound?â€ He turned slightly at his desk to look at the brown haired, red eyed girl sitting on a bed. The straps theyâ€™d used to tie her down when she was younger hung limply from the sides. It seemed so long ago that theyâ€™d had to restrain her. She was so little back then, he couldnâ€™t fathom how she couldâ€™ve frightened them. â€œAre you guessing?â€ Eden jerked her head up toward him, blinked her blood red eyes and looked up at the ceiling. She knew above that ceiling, there was nothing but dirt and stone and then the headquarters of SOL. â€œNoâ€¦itâ€™s raining.â€ He turned fully to look at the girl heâ€™d raised from a strange test tube baby, â€œI meant that you think itâ€™s a sad sound. Do you think itâ€™s sad, or is that just your programming telling you to believe itâ€™s sad because thatâ€™s what a human would say?â€ Eden dropped her red eyes to her lap, her shrot brown hair falling around her face, â€œIâ€™m not sure. I canâ€™t tell the difference between my programming and what I think. Itâ€™s all the same to me now. Do you think Iâ€™d ever get to feel the rain?â€ The man ran a hand through his black hair and stood, â€œI donâ€™t know for sure but Iâ€™d like to give that to you if I could. I wish youâ€™d been born instead of created. Or at least created on the surface instead of down underground,â€ he slammed his fist down on the desk and her eyes flew to his face before dropping down to his hand, â€œYou areâ€¦madâ€¦because of me? Iâ€¦I donâ€™t understand.â€ He rushed over to her and cupped her face, â€œNo, Iâ€™m not mad because of you. Iâ€™m mad because of those idiots and their, â€˜we need to keep her secret until sheâ€™s readyâ€™ bull. Itâ€™s not fair for a girl like you to be kept prisoner down here against her will!â€ Eden stood. Her lithe legs were long like the rest of her was well muscled and toned for battle with creatures that packed a lot of punch. â€œI donâ€™t have a will. My will is your will. What my master desires so do I. That is how I was created. Itâ€™s a code written in my programming that tells me to do as the one who commands me wishes. If you do not want me to see the rain, then I do not want to see it.â€ His face pinched into a look of pure sorrow, â€œIâ€™m sorry, Eden. I didnâ€™t want you to turn out like this. Obeying your code is good and all butâ€¦I wish you could think on your own too.â€ Edenâ€™s thoughts settled on that one wish her master wanted, â€œThink on my ownâ€¦â€ she whispered to herself. â€œI wishâ€¦â€ he stood up as Eden started her own though, â€œI wishâ€¦I couldâ€¦end the suffering of the ones who became DBWâ€™s. I want to help them.â€ he suppressed the urge ot jump for joy, Eden had had her very first thought, â€œYou can help them Eden! You can!â€ Eden stared up at her master, â€œHow?â€ His face sobered, â€œWell, youâ€™d have to kill them. The only way to ease suffering of that kind is to end what life weâ€™ve given back to them.â€ Eden nodded slowly, letting her programming store his words into her databank as her primary mission. â€œThenâ€¦that is what I will do. To ease their suffering is to end their lives. Understood.â€ He sat down as she stalked out the door for the first time with full intent and knowledge of going to the surface and doing what sheâ€™d been created to do. â€œUhâ€¦E-Edenâ€¦Eden! Eden!â€
Eden walked out to the lab and watched calmly as the soldiers she didnâ€™t recognize hefted their weapons to their shoulders and took aim at her. A scientist reached out for the gun of the nearest soldier, â€œNo, sheâ€™s one of us! Please!â€ The soldier smashed his face in with the butt of the rifle and re-aimed at her, â€œLook at her eyes! Sheâ€™s not human! Itâ€™s another of those things! Quick, kill it before it can escape to the surface!â€ Eden had no clue what they meant by escape, she had full intent of leaving but if anyone was going to stop herâ€¦well, her programming calculated that no one would try to stop her. She was going to do her job. It was what they wanted. Bullets started flying past Edenâ€™s face as she ducked quickly and flung out her leg in a sweeping motion to knock them off balance. As each soldier fell to the ground the scientists stared at her in awe, â€œEdenâ€¦? Where are you going?â€ Eden turned on her heel and waved goodbye to them, â€œMy job.â€ It was all that was necessary to tell them. Her first impression of the SOL soldiers wasnâ€™t a very good one so she made it her secondary objective to eliminate any and all SOL soldiers.
Leaving the lab was harder than her programming had calculated. She had no map of the area and thus locating an exit was proving difficult. A nearby computer blinked on as her programming went wireless and activated a search for a map. Once sheâ€™d found the map, she scanned it and committed it to her databank. The nearest exit was on the top floor, where an elevator would take her up to the surface. â€œHmm, seven floors to get through. All filled with security, SOL, and probably stray DBWâ€™s that couldnâ€™t get out.â€
Eden ran for the stairs, all quiet on this floor. Too bad the stairs werenâ€™t connected to go all the way up to the top; sheâ€™d have to find the other stairs without setting off the alarms. Her programming added it up to the hard part to beâ€¦avoiding biohazards. Rounding the stairs, she spotted a group of SOL soldiers and slammed her back against the wall. Her breathing was elevated and only when her programming blinked that she would be out of their line of sight if she ran now did she run around the wall and slid behind a crate filled with something marked with a bold CAUTION sign. Eden waited until she figured the best time to glance around. Lifting her head above the boxâ€™s edge, four SOL soldiers caught the quick movement. â€œWhat was that?â€ â€œI donâ€™t know. Check it out.â€ Eden silently scolded herself for being careless, pinpointed where they were by their voices and the sound of their boots on the metal floor coming closer to her from the northeast. Suddenly the footsteps stopped; it seemed illogical to Eden until she heard them speak again, â€œWhoa, trip wire. Wouldnâ€™t want whatever this was connected too to fall on our heads.â€ â€œHeh, yeah, hey stand back, lets see what it is connected to.â€ Eden heard the trip wireâ€™s *ping* and her programming quickly located the end of that wire. A crate located roughly above her head containing numerous toxic fluids. The result of this crashing on her head would end in numerous gashes in her skin as well as chemical burns and she would cease to exist. Death was almost a hundred percent if it fell on her. Eden didnâ€™t want to risk dashing out of her cover and risk being seen but her odds against the soldiers were better than against something she couldnâ€™t harm like the toxic. Quick as her body allowed, Eden dodged the falling crate and dived for the nearest wall to hide behind. Her bodysuit caught on a corner of a pipe and ripped. No matter how fast she ran now, the toxic in the crate would affect her through itâ€™s fumes. Almost immediately she felt the fumes sear her skin where her suit had ripped open. Eden stifled a cry of pain, her red eyes watering, she ran for the stairs. Those two would die when they breathed it in. Although unscentable by normal humans, she wasnâ€™t normal. Biogenetically enhanced she could scent the fumes until the stair door was safely shut behind her and she was halfway up the stairs. â€œTwo floors down, five more to go.â€ Eden continued up the stairs and through the open door until she spotted four SOL soldiers rounding a corner coming toward her and a single guard of the Gaia labs turning another coming toward her too. â€œOdds are, someone wonâ€™t survive.â€ The Gaia guards were her protection; if the SOL soldiers fired in the small enclosure, a stray bullet would definitely hit him. The SOL soldiers spotted the guard and Eden bolted from the wall at them. â€œHey!â€ the soldiers hefted their weapons to their shoulders and took aim at the guard as Eden slid under their line of sight and jumped up in front of them, â€œSalutations and farewell.â€ They hesitated as her red eyes glowed in front of their faces and she took advantage of their hesitation to snap their rifles from their hands and dismantle them. Even faster, her hands blocked their deft punches and slammed her fist into oneâ€™s nose. It cracked and broke off to the side under the force and she leaned sideways and kicked the other soldiersâ€™ stomach, cracking two ribs and flinging him to the ground. With the soldiers dazed, bleeding and unconscious she ran back toward the Gaia guard, grabbed his sleeve and pulled him upward to the stairs.

Catch the Rain

"She surfaced back to the present and tilted her head back to look at the sky, closing her eyes and enjoying the breeze shifting through her hair. She knew without looking that his eyes would be on her, just as they always were. It unnerved some of their friends how even after years together they never could stop watching one another, it was as though they shared a thirst they could never quench, a thirst for each other. Their closest friends joked about how it was as though they had been born for the sole purpose of being together.

Scratch...scratch...scratch, don't you just hate those little itches, the ones that refuse to go away no matter how much you scratch at the skin with your nails. Those nasty little itches that persist even when you leave the skin red and sore.

Flakes of skin caught under your nails, but still the damn itch remains, scratch...scratch...scratch. White lines over the surface as your nails move back and forth desperate to relieve the itch.

You have an itch and you scratch it, you do it without thinking the majority of the time. But did you know that irritation you feel, that frustrating little itch that refuses to go away no matter how much you scratch at it, is actually the work of Them.

A long time ago, longer than you or I or anyone can remember, They came to our world from another place. They have been here ever since trying to take over.

That itch that you feel, that prickling of your skin is the work of Them. Their hosts work their way inside of your mind via dust on the wind, then once inside They start to take over your body. They multiply by the thousand, scores and scores of Them run around through your veins until They have used the resources of your body as much as They can.

They begin to look for a new host, a new being to invade and take over as They systematically work on reducing the population one person at a time.

Escaping your body isn't as easy as gaining entrance though, They need you to release Them. So They throw themselves at your skin from the inside. They poke and twist the nerves to the cells, itch...itch...itch...it feels so good to scratch, scratch away at the itch. It won't go away so you scratch harder and harder opening the flesh, tearing it to ribbons, so They can escape and leave you for waste as They find Their next target.

The pristine, pearl white halls of the hospital's first floor were a buzz with the murmur of machines striving to keep the clientele alive and well, intermittently interrupted by a call from one room to another. Occasionally there would even be a call at the front desk, but it was a slow day for incomers. Up a flight of stairs the situation remained consistent with the floor before. In fact, it was not until one came to the fifth floor that there was a break in the pattern. This floor was almost silent, that is until one came across room 516. There was an occupant mysteriously in the middle of this seemingly empty floor being monitored for heart rate, blood pressure and many other bodily functions as he or she slept only making themselves known with the rhythmic chime of their heart triggering their mechanical guardian to give the temporary all clear. Beep. And so it went on. Beep. And on. Beep. And on. Beep. And on further.

Beep
Beep
Beep
But, suddenly the rhythm was broken with the peal of a woman's shrill shouts. â€œWill you shut that bloody thing off, I know my heart is working you stupid sods!â€
â€œShe wakes.â€ He paused. â€œAnd what do you know, she's British.â€
Sitting up in bed was the rebellious patient. Patient 1004, PFC Attenborough. Standing across was the distressed doctor. Dr. Xavier Parkinson. The two locked eyes momentarily. The doctor swerved away first and began to speak in a rapid yet timid tenor.
â€œYou died Miss Attenborough, I wouldn't be so sure of your heart or any of your other workings yet.â€ He spoke with a pronounced Irish accent acquired during his time as an IRA surgeon in his teens, he didn't much speak of it.
â€œIs that so?â€ Rejoined his counterpart Miss Emiline Attenborough who spoke with a pronounced East End accent acquired during her time with Sgt. Davis Brooks, God rest his soul, she never spoke of it.
â€œYes, it is.â€ He affirmed.
â€œWell, I'm gonna bloody die again if you don't shut of that ****ing noise!â€ The woman continued to shriek. She was young, in the latter half of her twenties to be sure but still almost childish in some aspects. Perhaps it was the fringe of hair she kept in the front or the pouting face she'd make when things displeased her. But to Dr. Parkinson she only looked like a self destructive brat who needed to be sedated-- who should have been already sedated.
â€œDidn't anyone give you anything to help you sleep?â€ He asked as the thought came to him. He often did that, thought of things and said them nearly at the same time. It worked out usually but occasionally made his superiors pass him over for promotion, not that he minded.
â€œYeah, but I don't think it matters much if I don't take it. I'm not going back to sleep until you tell me what's going on here.â€ She said as she revealed the knot she'd made in the IV drip earlier.
â€œThat's dangerous, you shouldn't even be awake, you're recuperating.â€ Dr. Parkinson cried as he rushed to undo it. His patient only frowned at him with disgust and let him work as she continued to complain.
â€œI'm, ****ing, fine.â€ The doctor was assured again in spite of his knowledge to the contrary. His current charge was not '****ing fine'. She'd lost her heart, left lung and liver when she jumped in front of a grenade with the intention of batting it back at the enemy. That was three months ago. Now her organs had been completely replaced with copies grown under a living bovine's skin and her stitches had only come out a week ago.
â€œNo. You're. Not.â€ He stated forcibly, by now he was done undoing the knot and the drugs were sliding down the tube into the young woman's veins and holding her firmly by the shoulder.
â€œI'll get you for this, Parkinson.â€ Attenborough spat, her eyelids growing heavy and his hand slowly forcing her back into the reclined position.
â€œGood night.â€ The doctor whispered to her.
â€œ**** you.â€ She whispered back.

Three weeks later the two had grown even less fond of each other, if indeed that was possible wondered Nurse Hale. Though, it was true loath as she was to believe it. The two had begun with only shouting at each other and now Emiline had taken to throwing her plastic utensils at her caretaker whenever she had the chance. Nurse Hale was unsure why, but the doctor fought back and had her sedated whenever he saw her awake. The cycle of fighting could only continue until Emiline was either discharged or sedated to death decided the nurse as she handed Emiline her breakfast.
â€œYou'll find I gave you an extra spoon to tease the head with. It's metal though, don't tell him where you got it.â€ Winked the nurse knowingly.
â€œThat'll do Wellsley. That''l do excellently.â€ Grinned the wicked woman with a childish glee.
â€œNow you have a nice day and try not to get yourself put to sleep again, you're supposed to start rehabilitation in two week's time.â€ Nurse Hale informed her charge with a giggle. At 37 Miss Wellsley Hale had very little time left to change her title it seemed and at 42 the good, single, doctor seemed the perfect match. However, things hadn't been well between them since Parkinson was found hitting on the interns on the second floor. Still, he was generally speaking a good if not easily irritated man and she loved him the way he was, silly goatee and all.
â€œI will, miss.â€ The younger woman said thankfully. â€œOh, if I find any weaknesses, I'll tell you.â€
â€œThank you.â€ Nurse Hale smiled and promptly left. She felt bad for Nurse Hale, Emiline did. Mostly because the doctor was a philanderer and a twit and partly because Nurse Hale was easily the nicest person PFC Attenborough had ever met in that crazy ****ed up world they lived in.
â€œWhat are you doing awake?â€ Dr. Parkinson asked, bringing Emiline out of her musings in time to peg him with the metal spoon before he came over to sedate her.
â€œI'm fine, I don't need to sleep!â€ She cried.
â€œI'm not fine whenever you're awake!â€ He cried. He wasn't entirely lying, the woman's continuous attacks on him were becoming more and more stressful as she managed to find more and more dangerous projectiles. Still, what mattered most is he knew she blamed him personally for something and he knew he had no idea what it was. â€œNow where did you get a metal spoon for God's sake?!â€
â€œGod gave it to me because you tooketh His name in vain.â€ Smirked the PFC. She did blame him personally for something and once she remembered what it was she'd certainly get her revenge in earnest, until then spoons would have to do.
â€œYou did too! Just now!â€ He exclaimed as they started to grapple her muscles weak from months of imprisonment in bed and his from years of neglect. Just when it seemed the doctor would lose in a contest of strength against his ailing patient he managed to reach around her begin untying the knots in her IV tube.
â€œNo, I didn't. I did it all respectful like.â€ She squirmed trying to keep him from then undoing the set of knots she'd spent minutes preparing ahead of time.
â€œThat-- that's no different from what I did, now let my arm go.â€ He menaced her as best as he could. It was an utter failure as anyone could have expected.
â€œNo!â€
â€œPlease!â€ He changed tact and began begging her to distract her from his left hand which snuck back towards the IV.
â€œNot if you're gonna put me to sleep again!â€ She bellowed angrily as she swiped at his face leaving a red mark on his forehead as he recoiled.
â€œAlright, I won't.â€ He said dropping the syringe and stepping back. Emiline immediately looked at the IV and clear as day he'd undone the knots and given her sedatives again.
â€œLying's a sin, you wanker.â€ She cursed him as her eyelids grew heavy and his hand forced her to her back again.

â€œWhat was I thinking?â€ Erica said aloud to the empty room. She was sitting alone for the first time in days and she recognized that it was probably the reason for her sudden introspective mood. She'd been stuck together with others and it had kept her mind off of it but the it didn't take long for her mind to wander its way back to her old thoughts.

Thoughts of days gone by, thoughts of the last time she'd tried to step onto the wheel of fate uninvited. She remembered acutely the searing pain of her flesh being rent asunder and winced instinctively. â€œI was the one who ran in front of that car. I was once bitten but I guess I'm missing the shy part right now. Why don't I ever learn?â€

She groaned more loudly than she'd meant to and cut it short. â€œJust like old times, don't know who's listening on the other side of the walls.â€ She laughed softly. She was depressing herself again and that always made her laugh. Black was right, Erica didn't belong here. She wasn't called upon by fate she wasn't chosen to do anything, she called out to fate and chased it down only to be stood up still. If anyone ever was meant to be on the sidelines, out of danger.

â€œThat's right. I'm not gonna be a big damn hero to anyone. I'm just gonna sit by this time and when the crowd cheers for our triumphant heroes, I will too. It may be too late to stay out of this entirely but... I can at least lay low until it's over.â€ Speaking aloud helped her feel sure of herself. She still felt the sting of being useless but this time she'd acknowledge it instead of pushing it away.

She wouldn't get out on stage and trip over herself in front of the audience and make a fool of herself like last time, she'd stay quietly backstage and watch for the final curtain call and let everyone else take a bow. Satisfied, if not still slightly melancholic, she rose and made her way to find Black.

â€œHey.â€ Kip greeted her roughly as he fiddled with a small puzzle involving a ball bearing and some tracks. He was continually asking to be entertained by whoever would listen to him since he started staying in that town he was once intent on robbing blind. She had no idea what he meant by staying here with them even after he was more than half done healing.

KHV: Carnival days
I. Silent Proclamation, the crieth of Foedus
The rays of sunlight donâ€™t filter through the clouds of this day in Kingdom hearts vids. Everyone was still out discussing, some preferred to stay inside. Chevalier liked days where the sun wasnâ€™t in full brim. The atmospheric curtain meant he could go out and just think, without worrying for the heat. It was somewhat chilly, but he felt it was best this way. He took his casual clothing and went out.
Everyone was threading around, the usual spot park had many people going around talking. Chevalier sat in one of the park benches, just watching everything go by. People gave glances, and then continued walking. Ever since Chev had been promoted to Super Moderator after the Mystification heâ€™d gained some sort of unspoken bout of respect. Some just wanted to defy the stoic super mod just for the heck of it, but he was far too laid-back to give them that pleasure.
He closed his eyes for a moment, and let himself take in the cool air of the usual spot. For some reason his muscles tensed and for a moment he saw something in his mindâ€™s eye.
A small child, his eyes expressionless, walking all over a sea of binary, creating ripples. The blue waters of binary dancing, chiming a melody that felt so familiar.
â€œCHEVYYYYY!!!!â€ His trance was broken, as a girl began to poke his plump cheeks. She slouched over and began giggling.
â€œLulus_Moogle, what do you want?â€ Chevalier gave a displeased grunt.
â€œNot much. Just wanted to see how everything is outside of Forum Familiesâ€ She sat down next to him and smiled. She wanted his full attention, and began going on about how she painted her nails with glitter and how delicate of a process it was. Chevalier wasnâ€™t interested. She kept going on and on, and Chev almost gave a sigh of relief when his phone rang. He quickly opened it; it was a call from staff HQ.
â€œChev here.â€ He replied in a dry baritone voice.
â€œHey, Chev. We need you to check on some activity in the spam zone.â€ RvRâ€™s voice came down authoritative. Chevalierâ€™s face became somewhat distorted at the thought of going into the SpamZone. It was by no means some deadly place he couldnâ€™t handle. But it was a darker place in KHV; the air was thick and charged. People moved fast in there, and it sometimes turned violent.
â€œCanâ€™t anyone else do it? I wanted to relax toda-â€œHe glanced over, and Lulus was still so absorbed in her nail talk that she hadnâ€™t noticed Chev was ignoring her â€œ,Ehâ€¦Iâ€™m on it!â€ He ran for his dear life before Lulu would notice.
Not five minutes later he heard â€œCHHHHHHHHHHEEEEVVVVV!â€ heâ€™d probably have to make it up to her somehow.
His kept running towards the SpamZone, but his mind was clouded. His Foedus was a gift and a curse. It showed glimpses of things he didnâ€™t understand. He could still get glimpses of the boy, the sea of binaryâ€¦but the image faded, the world shifted between two visions.
Not minutes later, he arrived at the SpamZone, with a few huffs and puffs. He heard the usual bustling of the particular area, but something caught his attention.
He moved forward to see what who the members were encircling, their laughs heavy and somewhat mocking. He quickly spotted a small girl who was laughing hysterically. He recognized her as RoxaSora4E.
â€œPeople, back off!â€ An angry voice shouted. Everyone turned to look; it was DPwolf, her baggy clothes hanging all over her. She looked bothered. Chevalier was hoping sheâ€™d noticed him, but she was too focused on trying to get 4E out of the rabble of people that had gathered.
He stood there paralyzed. Something was wrong; this wasnâ€™t just a normal n00b thread. Chevalier could feel it, he was sure Wolfie could feel it too. Their powers had that perk. The difference being that Chevâ€™s vision was now becoming clearer. He moved away from the commotion and leaned on a black site wall.
It was there again, the binary sea. The child. But now there was someone else, a cloaked figure. Chevalier couldnâ€™t make out who it was; he only saw the movement of lips as they uttered some word he couldnâ€™t understand. He blinked and could see the commotion again. Wolfie had driven everyone off. She glanced over at Chevalier, as she pulled 4E by the hand.
â€œYou know better than to make a scene in the SpamZone. Youâ€™re lucky it turned out okay.â€ The girl looked at her, still laughing, â€œIâ€™m sowwy Wolfie. It wonâ€™t happen again.â€ Chev was observing the girl, something was off. But she was already skipping out of the SpamZone and into the Usual Spot.
â€œChev, what did you see?â€ Wolfie was now looking at Chevalier with a serious expression.
â€œNothing. Iâ€™m just tired from all the spam removing.â€ He lied.
â€œI felt somethingâ€¦I canâ€™t tell what it is. My Lupumos doesnâ€™t tell me these things.â€
â€œMy powers arenâ€™tâ€¦very reliable.â€ He leaned on a wall. His eyes distant.
â€œEh, whatever. This is all taken care of anyhow.â€ With that, she sprinted out of sight.
Chev felt his Foedus crying. It was far too strong to ignore. But it made no sense. Misty was asleep, and she would be for a while. All threats were gone.
He can feel it
Wolfie can too
So much fun
Let the grace of our owner be upon you, children.
The Carnival has begun.

Destined

The opening chords of an electronic guitar punctuated the early morning calm, as though throngs of fans would immediately be stilled into the tranquil dance of song. Sunlight illuminates the stage, spreading rays amongst the tattered remains of receipts and discarded gum wrappers. As the first few lines of verse bleed forth, a slithering hand strikes, silencing the lead singer, forever trapping them within the confines of the small alarm clock. Slowly, the hand retracts, finding shelter once more within the confines of the striped cotton sanctuary. A tuft of brown grass lazily blows in the air conditioning, as the sanctuary returns to a still slumber.

Moments later, the shriek of The Who erupt from the cell phone. The hand returns once more to silence the beast, but stutters, realizing the phone is not perched upon the wooden sacrificial alter, but has crept down between the bed and nightstand. The cave rumbles alive, casting off the sheets as the grass evolves into a head of tussled hair connected to a sleep stained face. As the hunt continues, the shades are struck, allowing the morning light to paint further into the room, illuminating a stack of books piled next to bags of souvenirs. An i.d. card and badge rest atop dull black work shoes tucked beneath black slacks and a tie with a smattering of color draped across a white button down shirt.

Slowly the cell phone is reeled in, protesting against the strain of the power cable. A button is depressed and Teenage Wasteland falls on deaf ears. Cal yawns wide, rubbing the early day haze from his eyes. He reaches across the bed, glancing outside. The first rays of the Monday morning light greet him, slinking between the swaying branches of palm trees. Another perfect March day. The first day off in months, Cal realizes, allowing his face to deform to showcase a set of sparkling teeth beneath a smirking smile.

The Flurry - Axel's Story:

"Now," Xemnas said, "Show us your element."
"How?" I asked, "How do I find it?"
The Organization snickered at me, except for Xemnas. He raised a hand and they were all quiet. "Do whatever comes to you. Look into the empty gap where your heart should be. You'll find the answer as whatever is left to fill the vacuum your heart made when it left."
I opened my mouth to say something, but the words got lost. I simply nodded and closed my eyes. I tried to feel deep inside myself. Soon I noticed I had laid a hand on my chest. I felt a small nothingness within it, but it was very faint. Then I tried to sense what was filling that nothingness. But my mind was distant...
Out of desperation, I shot out the hand I had laid on my chest. But nothing happened. The Organization snickered once again. I shot out my other hand. Then both. I tried again and again to make something out of the ordinary happen. But nothing would work.
"Okay," said Xigbar, "This is getting ridiculous."
"No!" I said, "I can't... Nothing's happening-"
"Number eight," Xemnas said impatiently, "You can't simply flail your arms and make something happen. You must control the power as if it were an extra limb. You have to feel the connection with it."
"I'm trying!" I blurted out. I clenched my eyes shut and tried desperately to feel what took the place of my heart. All I felt was anger; heat.
"Number eight..."
"I'm trying, I'm trying!" I felt the heat grow stronger in my chest.
"Number eight! Control yourself!"
My eyes closed again. Heat consumed my entire body. The Organization members were on the edge of their seats, looking at me as if I had gone mad. Now I knew. I knew what my power was. I should have known! I was destined for this my entire life as Lea! And now that I was Axel, I could finally let out all that I'd been keeping in...
"AAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!" Flames exploded from my body in the most violent display of fire I had ever seen. They swirled throughout the room and danced in the air, scorching the walls and the floors. I breathed heavily and tried to calm myself down. My arms trembled and I quickly began to lose strength.
"Axel," Xemnas said, surprisingly calm. He waved a hand the flames suddenly disappeared, as well as the damage it had left. It was as if I had never made them. I looked up at him in imediate regret and wondered what he would do to me as punishment. I braced myself for the worst.
"Welcome to the Organization," Xemnas grinned, "The Flurry of Dancing Flames." Then, he was consumed by yet another plume of darnkess and disappeared.
I was in shock. What had just happened? Let's recap, I thought, I just got practically eaten by some big black cloud, slept for over a week, woke up in a castle that looks like it got dunked in bleach in the middle of nowhere, got renamed by a bunch of glowing letters, almost fainted, got taunted repeatedly by a guy in an eyepatch, and exploded.
I felt one eyebrow arch in confusion. What the HELL was going on with me?
"All hail the almighty Flurry!" Xigbar said, raising a fist.
"Are you crazy?" Xaldin said, "The kid is too dramatic."
I narrowed my eyes. "I am not a kid," I spoke up, "I'm eighteen! Practically a man!"
Xigbar laughed. "Eighteen? You're not a man! You're only a year older than Zexion here!"
I looked at Zexion. He looked away. Obviously he did not like to have himself brought up as a topic. Still, I was surprised. I had seen him as older than me.
"Look, Flurry," Xaldin mocked, "You have no right to stand up to us. We are highly trained Nobodies. Even as Somebodies we were highly trained!"
"And it looks like you've got no skills at all," Vexen said, "Let alone a weapon."
Weapon? I needed a weapon? What did this have to do with earning hearts?
"So, Axel," Xaldin said, "Do you think yourself as a man now, compared to us?"
I looked at all the members. Even Saix looked at me in challenge, but Zexion looked away. I think he felt sorry for me.
"No," I said quietly, looking down.

The Flurry: FINAL CUT; a remake of The Flurry: Axel's Story.

â€œDonâ€™t eat too fast or youâ€™ll choke to death,â€ a voice came from behind me. I felt a thick hand ruffle my hair and I looked up at the face smiling down at me.

â€œDonâ€™t worry, Reno,â€ I told my brother. He smirked and pushed his long, red ponytail from his shoulder to behind his back. â€œI can eat. Iâ€™m not THAT much of an idiot.â€

â€œUh-huh, rightâ€¦â€ Reno said, his blue eyes glinting with sarcasm.

I punched him lightly in the side, when I noticed he was wearing his uniform. It was a dark blue color with lots of pockets and padding. He was part of Radiant Gardenâ€™s security force. I frowned. â€œAw, Reno, do you have to go out on patrol?â€

Reno did a sort of half-grin and then sighed. â€œI have to, kiddo. Things have been getting worse around here. They need someone to look after things.â€

â€œOhâ€¦â€ I frowned. â€œWhen will you be back?â€

â€œIâ€™ll be home later than usual,â€ Reno said, â€œThereâ€™s an important meeting up at the castle. I have guard duty; itâ€™s confidential.â€

â€œOkayâ€¦â€

â€œHey, donâ€™t get depressed before your date, flame-head.â€ He ruffled my hair again and smiled. â€œIâ€™ll be fine. Have you ever seen me get hurt before?â€

I grinned. â€œNo.â€

â€œThen relax, kiddo. Thereâ€™s nothing to worry about. Heck, Iâ€™ve never seen any real action around here anyway.â€

â€œI hope you never have to,â€ I said, â€œAnd donâ€™t call me â€˜kiddo!â€™ Iâ€™m a man!â€ I puffed out my chest slightly.

Reno chuckled. â€œRight. My little man of a brother.â€

I opened my mouth, but then decided to let that one slide and stuffed more eggs into it instead.

â€œWell, Iâ€™ll see you when I get home,â€ Reno said. He patted my back and left out the front door, closing it behind him. I saw him frown before he closed it.

I swallowed my eggs and watched as he left, wondering if it would be the last time I saw him. But then I shook the thought out of my head. That was stupid. What could happen? Radiant Garden was a peaceful, friendly place. There was no danger here.

Apparently my mother had seen my worriedecided to take my mind off my brother. â€œSo how are things with you and Arlene?â€

I looked at her. â€œThings are great. I thinkâ€¦â€ I shook my head. â€œNevermind.â€

â€œLea,â€ My mom said in that prying tone every kid knows, â€œThereâ€™s no need to keep information from me.â€

I sighed. â€œI think she might beâ€¦ The one. You know, the one I choose.â€

â€œTo marry you?â€

â€œâ€¦Never mind, itâ€™s stupid, I know.â€

â€œLea.â€

I sighed again. I knew the speech that was coming.

â€œIâ€™m not saying youâ€™re wrong, but you know, youâ€™re still only fifteen. Iâ€™m not sure you really know what love is yet.â€

I swallowed the lump that was growing in my throat. â€œButâ€¦ But thereâ€™s just something special about her.â€

â€œThat may be so,â€ my mother said as she folded laundry, â€œOf course I donâ€™t know that, but you still have a long way to go.â€

â€œYeahâ€¦â€ I said, finishing the last of my eggs and bringing the dish to the sink, â€œYouâ€™re probably right.â€ But I knew she was wrong. How could Arlene not be the one for me?

â€œHave fun,â€ she said as I opened the door.

â€œThanks,â€ I said, and ran out, taking in the fresh, floral air of the Garden. The sun seemed to melt and trickle down through the air in streams of golden nectar, shining onto every cobblestone in the ground, every flower in the endless garden patches that lined the streets. Everything was bright and beautiful, from the petals of the infinite breeds of flowers growing in the flower boxes to the quaint but colorful buildings overlooking the street. This place was, as its name stated, purely radiant.

Blood of the Cascade

Ever since Misty was appointed Admin, you couldnâ€™t help but to feel as though something were lost in Headquarters. You were seated before the computer desk once again. The sky was bruised, the moon hanging onto it like a Band-Aid. You had returned a few hours ago. When you walked through the door, Misty was coming out of the spare bathroom. Most of her injuries had healed within days of her fight with Stardust. The only reminder of this incident was the white cast that clasped her left shoulder. She had looked at you, smiled, and then returned to her room. Thatâ€™s the problem with her. All she does is seclude herself away. It was a thought that always stuck in your mind. When Repliku was still an Admin, you two would always throw nightly dances together. You would both wear nothing but a pair of underwear and tie, then dance to Itâ€™s Raining Men, laughing at yourselves all the while.
With the advent of Misty, the dances were wiped away, all the fun dying away as quickly as it had come. Your gaze turned towards her room, a single light shining underneath the metallic door. You always wondered what she did in there. The only computers in the HQ were in the Main Hall, so it couldnâ€™t be about designing a new layout for the city. Maybe she was writing a history of the city for future members? Or maybe she was cleaning? You shook your head in submission. Whatever it is sheâ€™s doing, itâ€™s probably best to let her do it herself. You wanted to believe that, but you found yourself walking towards her door. With a gentle rapping, the door opened. You were about to ask to help her as the bodies fell upon you. You were buried under them, clawing at the floor until you forced yourself from beneath their clutches. You looked on, horrified, as you spotted the faces of Jayn and Bueno, the screaming expression a scar on their face. You saw other members you knew as well: Reptar, Rat, Zeonark, Zter, Spaze; the faces seemed to go on forever. You fell to your knees, tears smacking the floor, as you heard footsteps enter the room.

â€œI always knew you and Repliku were pansies, but I never thought Iâ€™d see the day where youâ€™d cry.â€ Mistyâ€™s voice was mocking. She stood wrapped in a shawl, her red hair falling to her mid-back. She was clutching a large duffle bag in her right hand, her arm trembling under the weight. You never noticed until now, but she looked more mature than she had even a few months ago.

â€œMisty, w-what are these bodies doing in your room?â€ You rose to your feet. â€œIt must be another accomplice of Fearless. Weâ€™ll track them down and Iâ€™llâ€”â€œ

â€œIt was me.â€ Your jaw fell open, the appalled look in your eyes causing her to laugh.

â€œWhat are you saying?â€

The Flurry - Axel's Story

From Chapter IV, The Eternal Flames

"What do I do?!" I yelled at them, "What are these things?!"

"They're called Dusks," Zexion said, "Innihlate them."

But how? I thought. I looked at my chakrams. This time I couldn't run. I had to stand and fight. As a Dusk neared me, I threw out one of my chakrams. It flew through the Dusk and it immediately exploded into a puff of blackness.

The chakram spun around and came back to me like a boomerang. I tried to catch it, but again my eyes refused to focus. It hit my hand and fell to the floor. I winced in pain and shook it off, and then picked up the chakram just in time to jam it into another Dusk.

"Work on your throwing," Xigbar said. "Throw it horizontally! Overhand! No, with your hand on top of it!"

I was becoming annoyed. I threw my chakrams again and again, expelling more Dusks. But then one of them came up behind me and wrapped its arm around my leg, nearly tripping me. Another one jumped on my back, clinging to me and attacking.

I groaned and shot a swirl of fire out of my hand. It went around me and knocked the Dusks away. I threw my chakrams again, hitting and killing them. Again and again I threw them, also using them as meelee weapons and hitting the Dusks directly. But then two more jumped on my back, one on my front. They tackled me to the floor and I was becoming overwhelmed.

"Get up, Axel!" Saix said, "Keep moving, or the darkness will overtake you!"

But I couldn't get up. The Dusks held me down and I couldn't move. I outstretched my arm toward one of my chakrams, which I had dropped. But I could not reach it. I stretched my arm as far as it would go, but I just could not reach.

"Fire, Axel!" Zexion called, "Use your fire!"

Fire. Fire! I felt deep within myself to the gap where my heart had been. Gathering that heat, that flame that filled the gap, I let it expand and burst outward, fire exploding from my core. The dusks flew off and died into the darkness. My chakrams spun around me and I threw them outward, flaming, toward the rest of the Dusks, and killed them all. The fire died away, and I collapsed to the floor.

"Axel!" Saix said, appearing next to me in a Corridor. He helped me up and put my arm around his shoulder. I leaned against him as I stood up. "Are you alright?"

"I-" I gulped in exhaustion, "I think so..." I looked down at my arm. I had a gash in it, but it wasn't a normal gash, and the Dusks hadn't caused it. Blood didn't come out of it, but a small wisp of black shadows. "Wh- What's happening to me?" I began to feel faint in panic.

"Are you alright?" I asked him.

"I'm fine," he said, "Let's go."

"Show no emotion," I said, although I knew that it was no use. He showed too much already. "They're gonna be very critical, and they enjoy making fun of new rookies. Just don't let them get to you."

Myde nodded. I led him in. I got a flashback of when I first came through here. It was the same; all the members were there in their thrones. But this time, Saix was there in his throne as well, and I was the one leading the rookie into the room. And as I looked around, I saw that there were not seven thrones as before, but eight. Xemnas had added one for me?

When we reached the center and stood on the big, grey Nobody insignia, Xemnas appeared in his throne with a Corridor. He gave Myde that same, chilling grin he had given me, and I felt Myde quiver behind me.

"You seek answers," Xemnas said, "I can give you purpose."

Myde said nothing. Xemnas raised his hand and summoned the letters of his name. They spun around him faster and faster as they had to me.

"Do you wish to accept it?" Xemnas asked.

After a few moments, Myde answered. It surprised me yet again. "Do you have fun here?"

Everyone in the room was silent. Xigbar tried to hold in a laugh.

"If regaining your heart is what falls under this aspect of 'fun'," Xemnas said impatiently, "Then yes."

Myde thought. "Yes, then." I was shocked at how laid-back he was acting, just after he was scared half to death! What was with this kid?

Xemnas ignored this, and created the 'x'. The letters stopped in their position, and the blue 'x' Xemnas had created spread its color to the other letters. The Nobody grinned in satisfaction of his new name.

"Welcome to the Organization, number IX," Xemnas said.

Buying a PS3

So, now that the PS3 has been out for a while and is being sold used for cheap, I'm considering getting one. c:

What I need some help on is which one to buy. The Gamestop by me has:
- 40GB for $230
~~- 80GB (Backwards Compatible) for $300~~ Eliminated because I don't need B/C.
- 80GB for $250

Additionally, my friend's boyfriend is willing to sell his to me. I know it's a slim, he's checking how many gigs it is and then giving me a price.

I do intend to keep my PS2 so I don't think that the backwards compatibility would be that big a deal to me. It'd be nice but I'm not really going to pay extra for it, you know?

What I'm really not sure about is how much hard drive space I'll actually need, or if I should get a slim. What are the differences between the fat and the slim, besides the obvious?

Overall I just need advice on what to get. xD

Cutscene Archive Update - Kingdom Hearts II

I'm sure some of you are confused; Kingdom Hearts II came out years ago--we already have videos for it! Well, thanks to the efforts of our staff member mixt, we are now working on providing the Kingdom Hearts community with higher quality versions of those videos.

The collection is far from complete (though we will keep working at making it so!), and the files are larger than the original videos, so the originals are still accessible by clicking the Cutscene Archive (Low Quality) link, in the Kingdom Hearts II section of our Cutscene Archive.

To give you an idea of what we mean by 'higher quality', here are some comparison images we're sure will convince you:

Due to popular demand, we have finally installed AutoPM. Making a new separate thread for it as to avoid confusion.

Basically, this is what AutoPM is:

AutoPM is a plugin that will automatically send you a Private Message whenever one of your threads or posts is deleted, undeleted or edited by a staff member.

To be more specific, you will be PMed when one of the following actions is performed on your posts:

What are the benefits to having this installed?

You no longer lose track of your deleted messages, meaning you can't accidentally repost a deleted post.

You can see what sort of posts are getting deleted, meaning you can take steps to improve your posting in future.

If you believe you are being unfairly persecuted by a staff member, there will be decisive evidence, instead of your suspicions against their word.

A greater appreciation for the work of staff will be created, as members will be able to see a fraction of the effort staff put into keeping the forum clean.

What are the downsides to AutoPM?

It cannot be enabled or disabled on a user-by-user basis, so you cannot opt out.

If many of your posts are deleted, then you will receive a lot of PMs, potentially overloading your inbox.

It could lead to conflict between members and staff over the deleted works.

Installing many plugins reduces stability of the forum.

The strain on the server is unknown. (However, sending out PMs does not put noticeable strain on the server currently.)

KH3D Details & Play Impressions

Hey everybody! Ty is unfortunately without internet right now, so I'm posting some news up for you all. =]

SQEX☆GAL translated the following summary of an interview with Nomura in a recent issue of Famitsu. It gives some of Nomura's opinions and comments on the game series, as well as hints about the future of the series, including KH3D!

On the Ranking Results
Since I hear a lot of opinions that fans really like one particularly, I’m surprised to see that KH2 Final Mix ranked number one and then KH2 ranked after it. I didn’t want Birth by Sleep to seem like a spin off, so I’m happy to see it ranked in the top five.

My favorite character Sora must be ranked number one since he’s an uncomplicated, good guy. He gives us trouble though; when we make the promotional trailers it’s hard to find lines of his we can use since he doesn’t really say much useful.

The second ranked character Roxas, fans think he’s the most Final Fantasy-esque. Along with his friendship with Axel, they make an impressive set.

The most impressionable scenes for me were the endings of KH1 and KH2, and the scene in KH2 when Roxas’ summer vacation ends.

My favorite abilities are the popular Glide and Dodge Roll as well. They have a reinvigorating feel and are comfortable to do, so I like them. Along the same line, we’re including a one-handed rotation ability similar to Dodge Roll in FF Versus 13 too.

My favorite Keyblade is the top ranked Oathkeeper. It carries a deep meaning with the story and the design of it is clean, it’s the one I’m most pleased with.

With the most popular world, Twilight Town, we really fussed over embodying the image of coming from school as the sun sets. That song gave Shimomura-san a lot of trouble and pushed her to improve. We had an image derived around another artist’s song, but it really worked out well, the result was a song with a completely different sort of anguish.

The worst world to deal with was Atlantica, sorry it was so difficult to move. We had trouble adjusting the character’s movement while swimming and simultaneously fighting.

The popular enemies like the Shadows, Neo Shadows, White Mushrooms, Dusks and so on; I drew them myself. The enemies dictate the overall design aspects of the series, so I work them out with the staff afterwards. The hardest enemy for me was the Dancer Nobody, it was formidable enemy.

On Story Development
The story is mixed with elements of surprise. I try to develop it so that the parts that you expect to go one way go another.

We don’t come together and decide on the story from beginning to end. The staff helps flesh things out and I supervise myself making the final decisions. Since I’m the only one who can see the big picture and knows what happens after each development, I have a hard time figuring out how to draw it up for the staff.

On Internationalization
Though it’s an international series, it isn’t regulated for specific regions since I believe it will be well received if it’s interesting enough. Those at Disney said it has a very Japanese sense about it, I guess you could call it ‘Eastern thinking’. I thought that we’d make the storyline simple and clear, but I received this single piece of advice from Hironobu Sakaguchi: “If you don’t make it more complex like with Final Fantasy, you won’t be able to compete.” So from there the development moved to make something that would engage the colorful imaginations of the fans.

The storyline for KH3D is considerably difficult to understand. I am discussing it with Disney now, but they couldn’t understand it all at once. I’m explaining the reason and the established connections for each mystery one by one. It’s troublesome for the interpretation and localization, but there are many people in Disney who love the Kingdom Hearts series, somehow they’re following along with it.

There’s a sense that Kingdom Hearts appeals to wider age range of fans compared to Final Fantasy. Ratio wise, more fans are female. I’m especially happy to see that there is strong support for the series from fans in foreign countries too.

On Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance
Since there are so many mysteries to wonder about that are unrelated to the main volume, we aren’t trying to explain all of them. (Things like the personal information of the characters, the Room of Sleep, and the Room of Awakening.) KH3D deals with Sora’s concealed data, I’ll reveal more about the other mysteries another time.

The development status of KH3D is about 40%-50%. We’ll start recording the voices soon. The theme this time was “bold action”, but we also wanted to stress the importance of the story’s tempo. Though the story is important to fans as shown by the results of the survey, it won’t be drawn-out.

Not meaning that we’ve decreased the number of cutscenes, but having each one explained one by one reduces the tempo of the game, so we’re introducing a new system to make up for it. Again it’s directionally different from FF Versus 13. In KH3D, Sora will fight alongside various friends too. There’s also a secret movie being prepared.

On the Future of Kingdom Hearts
We’ve prepared a response in KH3D for the fans who are always saying, “We want KH3 to release!” The series that has developed so far as “the Xehanort saga” should end once and for all in KH3. I’ve outlined a tentative plot that takes place afterward, so we could continue onto a new chapter. Sora would remain the main character; that wouldn’t change. About an HD remastering, whether we release one or not is a different story, we have to think about the technical aspects of it.

I’ll read everyone’s opinions carefully.

From this summer to next spring, we’ll continue releasing information and sales dates for KH among other titles from the first development department, so please look forward to it.

I was able to play a little of the demo version. You can play in the familiar Traverse Town world. Two new characters are your teammates.* The bright bursts from the battles are even more illuminating than before. You’ll be able to climb up buildings. The battle system is large scale and has a flashy action style, it has a fun feeling. I’m surprised that the party members will be characters who haven’t appeared before. I think it seems the [main] battle opponent won’t be Heartless or Nobody.
